Could market it (at a much lower price) as a retro gaming PC. I just built my dad a system out of old parts so he can play old strategy games from the Windows XP era, it was an interesting build since even with my old hardware everything I had was wayyyyyyyy overkill for the task at hand (2600, RX570, 16GB of Ram, 250GB SSD). If it wasn't for potential compatibility issues I'd have saved him some money and ripped out my old ATI card from my first PC (circa 2006), but he still got a deal and now I can nudge him toward more modern strategy games if he gets bored.
Nice one. Yeah, the part I dislike is that people fall for these, so the pricing for older, used parts stays high (maybe that's what the 'high' in 'high end' means?). Especially in an area like mine where we are far away from any stores that could be competition. And you can't reason with them, they just tell you to "go away" (but not so nicely). What's the real answer here? How do you solve the root of the problem?

But I have found a decent deal that I actually ended up buying over a year ago now, of a system with an Intel I7 8700 with a rtx 2070, that came With a Dell 1440p 165hz monitor, a nice steel series mouse and keyboard for only $1200.

@5:42 He must have followed Verges tutorial of "High End" gaming pc assembly.... Cables did give me that vibe, seeing RAM installed like that proved my point! xD
Was literally just ranting about this to my friend. I saw a bunch of mid tier AND old systems labeled as “high end” and even one that was both high end and also mid 😂😡🤬
Argentina used "high end": 1st gen i7 / Fx6300, with an rx570 if you're lucky. They use the phrase "solo para entendidos" ("knowledgeable bidders only") so often it has become a meme at this point.
those words should just be removed from those sites. same with gaming and all the other silly non descriptive words. specs and useful information only.
Reminds me of the person I saw on Facebook who was trying to sell the AMD Wraith cooler that they got with a 3900 for $75. Like seriously, you can get two brand new for the price that this person was trying to sell it for.
Some of these prices too. You can actually get a PC with the latest actual high end GPUs for those prices. Even with the current scarcity. A friend of mine spent 2700 bucks on a new PC with an Rx 6900XT.
can you tell me how much my pc is worth because im considering selling it. it has an i7 7700k cooled with h100i v2, msi z270 gaming m5 motherboard, 16 gb corsair vengeance rgb @3000mhz, msi gtx 1060 6G gaming x, 2 drives(120 gb kingston 2.5inch ssd and a 1 tb hdd from seagate @7200 rpm), corsair vs 650, all inside the NZXT S340 elite. all in excellent condition.
People like using terms that don't accurately describe their things all the time.. like recently seeing someone's post of their iPhone 6s that you can clearly see has had use for a couple years.. and they were calling it "mint condition" like no. Mint condition is when it was in-box sealed and hasn't ever had anyone using the device/or whatever time is being sold as mint condition.
I sold my old rig as high end. Do you think I was right to do so? I had a 3900x, 1080ti, 1 tb nvme, 32gb Ram, and both the Gpu and cpu were watercooled.
This is great. I'm looking at building an actual high end PC and was explaining it to one of my friends who was after one. I'm tech savvy, he isn't and I managed to save him $1500 AUD (roughly $1100 USD) because of misleading terminology. I'm going to show this to him to prove I didn't get him a computer that "wasn't good enough"
Okay but I just built my pc and I have a Ryzen 5 3600 and a gt710 until I get a 3070 but I overclocked the gt710 so hard. Poor guy. He did very well indeed tho. Would recommend as a placeholder
The "Brand New" gets me. You buy the parts for a pc from a retail store then sell them on they are second hand. You can add value to those second hand parts by putting them together and testing, but unless you are a retailer they are not "Brand New" Even some retailers have a hard time with this. I went to buy a gpu from a small local shop. The only one he had was in a display model that had been running for who knows how long. I asked for a discount because it would be ex display. Lets just say I went elswhere to buy.
You should try the Philippine Facebook Marketplace, they sell it at "Free", "123", "1,111,111" in other words, "Message / PM me for the price" which I don't know why they don't disclose it publicly maybe in fear of competition or I suspect it may be due to high asking price
My friend kept getting baited by stuff like this on the Facebook Marketplace. He’d send me links to check out and it would just be junk but called “High end” but still ddr3 ram...
High end to me is: B550 AM4 socket 5950XT Dual RADEON RX6900XT any AIO watercooler 64GB of ram Dual M.2 3 TBs (One boot and another storage) A spacious case Fast and quiet fans
Lots of people locally in my area will say stuff like "monster/beast high end PC" and then go on to say "it plays league of legends and dota at 200+ FPS" as if any random potato from the last 5 years can't do that lmao
I wonder. How would you sell a used laptop with bad speakers? I have ducked 1300$ from the price. I have tried to bring notice to the news stuff it has like a nvm ssd and a new battery. What am i doing wrong? Its an alienware 17r4 with oled panel and a 1080 gtx.
When I saw the 2400 i7 listing I was like, okay, that's alright, that's about what mine cost to build. Didn't even notice the graphics card missing there lol
WTS High End Greg, slightly used. Willing to negotiate, 12,500 ono, no lowballers I know what a Greg is worth on the market and my Greg is one of the better binned Greg's.
I share your anger Greg. I recently tried to warn people on my local used market website for these kind of sellers. Putting words like 4K and High End in the titles and asking way too much for their PC. Recently saw a "4K super Gaming PC with 8 cores!" for around 800 euro's! (1000 USD) with an FX 8350 and RX 570! or something like that. But people fall for it because of the nice shiny RGB case it's in... and my warning was quickly removed from the website. Keep up the good work Greg!
There are some of us who will help people build for their budget. Hell, I would build anything I was asked to for a mere $100. You buy the parts, I slap them together!!
The sad part is how often i see this. When i sell a client a pc i give them a blunt opinion where if they give me a low ball price of like 900 to 1200 cad i will say it is a good starter pc but it can be upgraded farther down the line.
Hmm who would have thought my rig that sits on 100% GPU usage in the WOT garage with the fans screaming to keep it from burning to the ground was high end. It even has a 3080...minus one 0.

I got a 3900X, with a Dark Rock Pro 4 cooler, and an RTX 2060 (I had a budget so I could only afford this from eBay since it's sold out everywhere).
@5:42 He must have followed Verges tutorial of "High End" gaming pc assembly.... Cables did give me that vibe, seeing RAM installed like that proved my point! xD
i think i have already seen that listing in michigan, i live here and if its the listing im thinking of, a bunch of us ripped him hardcore.
Was literally just ranting about this to my friend. I saw a bunch of mid tier AND old systems labeled as “high end” and even one that was both high end and also mid 😂😡🤬
I see he went with The Verge's style of ram placement / cable management
Apple fans be like "nothing seems out of the ordinary to me here"
>roasts "high end" PCs
>this video is sponsored by Ridge Wallet
Argentina used "high end": 1st gen i7 / Fx6300, with an rx570 if you're lucky.
They use the phrase "solo para entendidos" ("knowledgeable bidders only") so often it has become a meme at this point.
Greg you always do such a top notch job captivating an audience. Mans needs more exposure or something. Algorithm pls help my mans here
Been looking for a pc for a while and im glad I discovered your videos. Would’ve gotten scammed by now
I have a R5 1600 paired with a RX570 and 16Gigs of ram. I never knew it was treated as low end!
Just in time!
Thanks for swingin' by so early!
@@GregSalazar Love your content!
those words should just be removed from those sites. same with gaming and all the other silly non descriptive words. specs and useful information only.
Its called a gaming pc as long as it can run snes emulators.
I don't have a problem with that. If it games, it's a gaming PC. But _"high end"_ has a limit, and that limit for me is when a GT 710's involved 😂
@@GregSalazar High end by 2011 standards maybe
These are your greatest videos.
High End “steaming” at least that is truthful I suppose!
You can add value to those second hand parts by putting them together and testing, but unless you are a retailer they are not "Brand New"
Even some retailers have a hard time with this.
When that "high-end pc can do 1440p aaa titles at 80 fps" but your pc can do 4k aaa titles at higher frames
I think more people would search "entry level" or mid-ranged" since parents typically looks for the lowest price when purchasing for their kids.
*Call desperation high end cus you have no patience selling normal.*
I saw a very similar computer on Facebook market place claiming it could stream in 4k 120 fps with a 1660 and a ryzen 3 2200g
My favorite is "It's my pride and Joy, I really don't want to sell it"... so, you want me to overpay and feel sorry for you while am at it?
if you slide your mouse across and watch the thumbnail Greg waves his arms a lot. Thanks for the content
You forgot to add the card referencing the "Brand New vs Open Box" etc video
My friend kept getting baited by stuff like this on the Facebook Marketplace. He’d send me links to check out and it would just be junk but called “High end” but still ddr3 ram...
Hi guys! I hope you stay safe and have a nice day, God bless you!
High end to me is:
B550 AM4 socket
5950XT
Dual RADEON RX6900XT
any AIO watercooler
64GB of ram
Dual M.2 3 TBs (One boot and another storage)
A spacious case
Fast and quiet fans
Lots of people locally in my area will say stuff like "monster/beast high end PC" and then go on to say "it plays league of legends and dota at 200+ FPS" as if any random potato from the last 5 years can't do that lmao
Thank You
Real estate agents be like “buy this High end luxury condo”
Excatly.. that pc would really be STEAMING when opening some programs
The part you mentioned about knowing what other don't is actually an IQ thing in some younger people.
Where do you get that LED display in the background?
it's the ram sitting right next to each other in single channel mode for me......
I like the YT Sub counter behind you. Nice!
There are some of us who will help people build for their budget. Hell, I would build anything I was asked to for a mere $100. You buy the parts, I slap them together!!
love this kind of videos
The sad part is how often i see this. When i sell a client a pc i give them a blunt opinion where if they give me a low ball price of like 900 to 1200 cad i will say it is a good starter pc but it can be upgraded farther down the line.
I feel like being honest in building pcs doesn't get you anywhere. But when people lie and stuff rgb into computers it ends well for them.
Steaming PC..
GREAT! now I can cook and game at the same time!
My computer is so high end it's measured in astronomical units
Its like when YTers capitalize superlatives like NEVER in the title of their videos
bad as these sellers are scrolling through fb marketplace usually gives a good laugh
Hmm who would have thought my rig that sits on 100% GPU usage in the WOT garage with the fans screaming to keep it from burning to the ground was high end. It even has a 3080...minus one 0.
