    These are small floats th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rJB7cli5f1ofPVGgn80S7Yj4vqwq0gU recommend the package is smaller than my hand just to provide perspective. That said I wanted small floats for the times I need to add one when trout fishing or fishing for panfish. The peg is perfect for my application where I want a set hold point that is quickly adjustable and want to be able to add the float without retying. That’s the real advantage here. You can add this float to your line without retying and adjust the depth easily with the peg so it won’t kink your line like a traditionalit. If I need to set this too deep then I’d switch over to ait with a thread stop to make casting easier. But like I said, these are a great value for the price I paid. Probably better suited to applications where your depth is 5-feet or less for the sake of casting.

      yeah but the thing is hes using a 1 oz sinker that can cast very far, and that type of float can handle the weight and still work

    That float rig is deadly. I've tried using it on the jetty, once you get your depth right, it's non stop action.
    Thanks to the Skipper for sharing.

    This is the way everyone fished on Georgia's coast in 70's and 80's. Float-Hi-Glo floats, trout sinker, Kahle hooks and live shrimp. Fill the cooler, no limits!! Strike -Zone in Jax is the best! Enjoyed the video.

    This is my go to rig when fishing on the jetties. When that float sinks, i do an easy pull sometimes to make sure i let the fish chase the bait back or set the hook gently, then when i feel the tension thats when i start reeling.

  • @Sano_Ohno
    @Sano_Ohno 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I usually loop the line three times inside the bead instead of making a knot and there is not limit how far(depth) of your bait to sink in :) hopes this helps

    I have one of my rods rigged with a slip bobber. I have a 2oz wood casting float and a 2oz drop weight.
    I had to tie a 30ft leader of 50lb fluro so it would work smoother. It has landed me many turtles and catfish.

  • @ashrammendez4852
    @ashrammendez4852 ปีที่แล้ว

    Grew up fishing lakes and rivers bobber was the first techinque and easiest . Sometimes we need to return to the basics. Unfortuntly you need to know the depth of the beds because if your not deep enough you will miss the big fish amd most if they are feeding from the bottom. Great for calm waters though.

    You did a video on this before when you were fishing with dad by a river outlet. I totally needed to see it as my local waters are filled with stuff underwater and I lost rig after rig.
    Why he’d you video and I use a float rig all the time now (Unless I’m going for catfish or carp.). I catch fish and I haven’t lost a rig since.

    Do you know you can get plumb weights? They have a strip of cork on the base of the weight that you push your hook into to get an accurate depth to set your float.

    • @HeySkipper
      @HeySkipper  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting let me look those up!

    • @EsoxLVCIVS6776
      @EsoxLVCIVS6776 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@HeySkipper you might find them under plummets. Basically you pass the hook and line through the eye of the weight and push the point of the hook into the weight. Cast out and adjust your float accordingly.

    hi there - will this work in the surf or do you have another method for that (taking the wave action into consideration) I fish a very rocky bottom, its the only place producing fish right now and must of lost 15 sinkers already. Tried not fishing that spot but like I said earlier it the only one producing right now.
