      It's the reason I didn't left the Sony Mic alone. But the Sony wireless lacks 32 bit float, no way to see any battery feedback. So know I finally can switch to DJI❤

      i have to ask, how is this a game changer for your workflow? you're just replacing a cable that you have to plug into the camera and the receiver, with an adaptor that you have to plug into the camera and the receiver. What changes?

    • @croppixelmedia
      @croppixelmedia 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@danielarmstrong2144 The less cables I have to carry/keep track of stream lines my flow. Not to mention there's no "plug" into the camera now, it's a hot shoe mic, just like the Sony ECM-B1M.
      Also the fact that I have an L bracket that doesn't have to be adjusted or moved to accommodate a 3.5mm cable, and helps me to go from vertical to horizontal seamless on the fly, and doesn't slow me down.

  • @fofopho
    @fofopho 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Mine arrives tomorrow. Literally ordered before watching a single video because I had feeling these would fly off the shelves. Us Sony shooters have been so spoiled with their native mic systems that this purchase was a no brainer. And it’s definitely priced to sell.

  • @NewZealandBirdsNature
    @NewZealandBirdsNature หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Hi Chris, it's way to late to comment but it seems to me there are two potential issues with using the adapter. Most significant is that on my FX30 this results in an automatic and unadjustable camera audio level which is not necessarily the level you would want to choose. I just did some initial tests and with quiet outdoor sounds it is setting the level way too low. I then reverted to the cable and was then able to set the level and the result was far far better. The second more minor issue is that the adapter then charges whatever you have attached it too - in my case the DJI Mic 2 receiver - and this means in circumstances where you have the camera switched on a lot of the time but record less often (for example walking around looking for birds) the camera battery gets run down more quickly.

    The shape the adapter is means it will work in many cages directly. The front and side only stick out about 1mm-2mm most cages have that space. Also i think thats why they made it about 12mm height so it moves the receiver up to clear most alu cages. Will it work for all cages nope but it will work for many and its easy to check looking at a 'top' picture of a cage to see if you have enough clearance.

    Thanks! Great overview. 2 Things i might add: In your video you showed ONE mic attached feeding 2 channels on your fx3. Is it possible to feed the 2 mics into 2 separate channels on the fx3? And 2nd: i use the sony uwp series audio transmitter wich also has this digital transmit feature. While not having to use a 3.5mm cable is nice, the main feature of this for me is the digital transmit. Not converting it back in an analog signal wich then gets re-converted in a digital one is a huge advantage resulting is a significantly lower noise level. Audio is way more cleaner this way.

    • @scb2scb2

      Yes and Yes, you can have 2 channels in max so either stereo or mono (2 channels mixed) but with a -6dB safety track. Transfer is fully digital at 16bit/48khz or 24bit/48khz. All controls will be turned of in the camera but you can control things from the dji receiver.

    The assumption you make is the same one DJI makes… that all users own the receiver. But guess what? Many users only own the Mic 2 and many of those users own two of the Mic 2 transmitters. Why? Because they also own the hot selling DJI Pocket 3… which was offered bundled with the Mic 2, but can support up to two transmitters. So for the many DJI Pocket 3 owners there is really no way just to buy the missing receiver. It would be great if DJI offered a Receiver and Charging case bundle so Pocket 3 owners could complete the set, and also benefit from being able to use the Mic 2 with their other cameras. Because most DJI pocket owners are not going to opt to buy extra Mic 2’s since the Receiver can only support a max of two transmitters.
    I really hope someone at DJI pays attention to this.

    not needing to bring the 3.5mm cable is not "one less thing to pack" when you're adding in something else to pack. the addition of the adaptor means you're not gaining or losing anything. you still have to plug it into the receiver and then into the camera, you still have to pack them separately because it doesn't fit in the charging case, and you still need to be careful with it because if you break the pins it's the same as breaking your cable. it's net 0 for packing, nothing has changed except your mic is now more expensive AND doesn't support auto on/off...
