Good morning, I own several Uno\Nano arduino boards in clone version that don't want to know how to work anymore. What do I do? I have loaded the drivers and when I insert the sketch I don't get any error but at the end it doesn't execute the code. A port problem, com3 and sometimes com7 appears too. To load my code I guess I have to use "bootloader" or something similar? I do not think there are components to replace but I hope to find a solution soon. Regards.
You saved my life! My Nano went up in smoke as I had other circuits near and they must have touched. Turns out it was only the diode and I applied a fix with another "generic" one, just like you showed. I suppose not all diodes are the same, is there any risk of running it long term with the generic diode?

Arduino uno board is not working A4 and A5 analog inputs. It will always be positive 5Volts constant on pin A4. What it could be, I think current drain it could be, but need if you may point me.
After investigation it was concluded that the ch340 chip was a cheap version so that it became short when reading and writing at high speeds. Replaced with ic worth three times as much. hopefully safe. Diode is S4 SMD (1N5819)

I was using my Arduino Nano to drive the stepper motor by A4988 driver with 12v and 10amp power supply .My board was working well but stepper somehow wasn't working but suddenly after replugging the Power supply my Nano chip (Atmel 328P) got bursted . I checked and found that my Voltage regulator went shorted too and schottky diodes maybe damaged too but the lump(burning point) is only made on the Nano 328P Chip. I also found that my GND PIN and all +ve pins(like Vdd, VIN , 3V3) are shorted now. SO i wanna ask what had happened bcz I had all correct connecions ☹, and if u can give any suggestion to solve the issue. Will replacing the chip and regulator a good idea and should i do so? The arduino Nano board that i have, uses the Atmel 328PB chip (newer variant) , SO i also want to ask that if i can replace it by 328P or only 328PB chip.?
This Schottky rectifier is rated at 0.5A 20V, it is here to protect against an excessive current. I am afraid that if you replace it with a general purpose diode, next time you short your Arduino, you may damage your computer's usb power supply.

I am trying to upload a sketch. after some time it just hangs and does not upload the sketch. it connects to my computer thru Com port 3 andT one just hangs and says an error occurred while up loading the sketch. There is something wrong with the board. When I connect the red light blinks times and then it connects. While uploading Rx led just blinks faintly and then after long time error comes.
Its best to use a Schottky diode because it has a low forward voltage drop. If you use a normal silicon diode, the Arduino will probably still work, but your 5V output will be more like 4.3 volts
Hi, I have fried arduino nano when it was powered through VIN. Even though it burned and I saw the smokes, it still gets power from both USB and VIN but the only problem is it won't take any uploads from IDE anymore. I can see that the voltage regulator (AMS1117) has a burnt on it like the small dot on yours. Uploading codes gives this error: avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding avrdude: stk500_getsync() attempt 1 of 10: not in sync: resp=0x11 Should I replace AMS1117 in this case or what? And is there another alternative I can use like you used a simple diot instead of the original part?

I ran into this exact thing last night. I was using one of the breadboard 3.3v / 5v plug in regulators. These work so well. Somehow, I shorted something of course, this regulator board's 5V regulator chip shorted in such a way that it was putting out 10V instead of 5. Well, this caused that B2 Diode to blow. I also had a Nextion 2.4" Enhanced display plugged into that 5V line, so it was getting 10V for a moment. It has its own on-board regulator chips, so I think it's fine. Today, when I wonk on my project, I'm NOT going to use the breadboard adapter thing. Rather, I'm going to use my Lab power supply where I can control the maximum current flowing. At least, this won't short out and blow up anything. LOL Oh what fun. *[UPDATE]* Well, no luck here. As it turns out, the short was so bad that it actually toasted the CH340G chip. It's not worth fixing at this point since it seems that right now, suppliers of this chip want more for the danged chip that a new Nano would cost. LOL Fortunately, I have lots of Nano boards, so I'll just keep this one in the "parts bin" in case I come across a chip.
This is nice BUT........you will never be sure it is as stable as before. Other things (chipwise) might be damaged also wich you likely will not notice right away.
It's still works fine, and I have received messages from people who had 5-8 boards fried and all of them were fixed. It's very common that people fry the diode.
Same happens to my ardiuno , I powered it up from USB side by my own power supply ....and now no computer is recognizeing it as USB ...it is only powering up from laptop...
You don't need to replace the diode, instead you can just remove it and short both the pins. The only problem then is that its not protected anymore and next time you short it the arduino breaks completely

Hi, I have fried arduino nano when it was powered through VIN. Even though it burned and I saw the smokes, it still gets power from both USB and VIN but the only problem is it won't take any uploads from IDE anymore. Your nano, power adapter or battery anything will blow up if you use two different power source with different ratings
