  • The 2022 SEAT MO eScooter is an electric scooter from SEAT. It's basically a badge-engineered version of the Silence S01, but from next year you'll be able to walk into a SEAT car dealer and buy one. It's £4,900, has a funky removable battery on wheels and it's genuinely good fun to ride. Join me for a full walkaround, a few skids and a decision on whether you should buy one.

Everyone makes the same mistake with the battery removal, you are not supposed to raise the handle before you pull the battery out, as raised it puts to much strain on the handle, you should slide it out then raise the handle to wheel it, it's actually in the instructions!

Now that was a fun little review of a fun little scooter. Speaking of which, I need to invest in a scooter to take to the track to get around on to take pretty motorcycle racing pictures (what a terrible run-on sentence. C'est la vie, I'm too lazy to change it.).

Great video, unfortunately mine needs a new battery and charging plug, the front forks are too bouncy. I'm waiting to hear from the dealership regarding when mine is ready to pick up, seems to be having problems getting the parts, but when it's working it's great fun and cheap to run after hearing energy prices are set to go down. I can't wait to get it back, just hoping the same reliability issues I've had with mine don't return

A good review Tim from which I will highlight that there is virtually no downside to this bike. I have had one for a year and can confirm it is just fabulous. Originally bought to go into the garage of a motorhome and provide a means of transport from campsites, I now use it instead of a second car at home. I live in a rural area and can comfortably 'commute' up to 30 miles from a charge source. The option of a top-box allows for a reasonably sized shop AND room for a passenger. 👌👍

Thanks for that - I've been looking for the 'right' e-scooter for a while, the JS2A from the likes of alibaba having been head-and-shoulders above anything else I've seen, but... alibaba...
This S01 doesn't look horrible or horribly built, may have sufficient range and speed for me, and it's a nice bonus it actually has a bit of storage - most e-scooters have the battery right under the seat, sigh. I wonder if I can track down the original manufacturer to save a bit of cash?

I’m very tempted to get a scooter at the moment to commute with the price of fuel goin through the roof. Are these really a viable alternative? I’ve a couple of miles of motorway en route and the weather protection looks a bit rubbish. That’s what really puts me off.

It looks no worse or better than a ICE 125. You'll probably be able to get a windscreen for it. The weight of 150kg will make it a bit stable. My Yamaha 125 is a shade under 100kg and I drove it from York to Glasgow and it was truly a dream to drive. I know this EV won't be able to do that, but for short stuff this I hope will be perfect as I am very interested in it.

  • @The77Game
    @The77Game 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Seems like a nice bike. It's just too darn expensive and the range in sport mode just ruins it for me. I would have to charge it way too often and i would always be thinking that i'm killing the battery a little bit every time i charge it. I wonder about the motor in the hub. Does that have a weakness if you drive through a lot of puddles? Part of it could get submerged.

I have a full bike license. But with travelling in peak times in birmingham I barely go above 50 anyway as that’s the highest I can go legally on the Aston express way . Cost me £15 a week to do 120-130 miles a week .52x15 = 780
    Insurance 100
    Tax 80
Maintenance I do myself about £100 a year . So £1100 a year to run without they outlay of the bike .
This apparently needs 6-8 hours and currently Octopus energy offer 5p an hour off-peak 12am-4am
    I would need to up every night so that’s 5p x4 = 20p x4 nights 80p but call it 1 pound
    That’s £52 a year compared to £780 that’s just fuel .
But the ultimate comparison would be the Honda cbf 125 pre2021 which I owned and did 115mpg
Cost of fuel uk is 1.40x4.5 = 6.30 a gallon
    Honda cb125f pre2021 cost £6.30 to 115miles 52x6.30= £327 a year in fuel for me
Although I’m aware the new 21 is claimed 188mpg expect 150mpg
So if insurance is similar for both circa 150-200 I would save £5 a week .
Not a lot when you consider a replacement battery is £2000 and it will need one eventually.

I’m on an Xmax same sort of price and looks….
Quality wise they are different gravy to one of these, dual shock is required for heavy use, no abs. + same price even with a government scheme, I think it’s still gonna be a good 2-3 years before these are cost effective transport.

    • @jonathanmellish4439

    • @903lew

The main thing for me would be the lack of servicing (because I do it but don’t like doing it if you get my drift) and just the silence while riding. All of a sudden I’d take the boy and go listening for birds in the woods. I’d miss the Honda 125-sounds a bit I guess but I think I’d learn to love new sounds while also doing my (very) little bit to reduce oil consumption.
