  • Spanish car maker SEAT has launched a new model in the form of an electric moped. Yep, you read that right. The new Mó (see what they did there?) is SEAT's latest answer to tailpipe emission-free urban mobility, and it enters a burgeoning market loved by commuters and delivery riders alike. Is the Mo the class's next best thing, or is SEAT too late to the e-moped party? We've been riding one all week in London to find out...

Had mine a few days and love it. You can open the under seat area for battery access by turning the key to the left.

Good test, I have the Silence version and found if you pull both breaks together when stopped the seat unlocks. Additionally the key has an unlock function. You didn't mention connectivity which means your phone can open seat and more importantly gives a location readouts, great for security. Keep up the great reviews.

Have a 2km dirt track (fairly well packed) to my house in Portugal. Curious how his would fare on it.

I'm in Southampton where can I find one here?

Silence UK in Birmingham would be a great place to pick up the original version. Weather and roads in Southampton would suit the bike perfectly.

Its not SEAT, its a re-badged Silence S01 made by Scutum of Spain and with a few hundred quid thrown onto the price for the SEAT name. Still a nice bike though.

Scutum unfortunate name but interested in one.

That "few hundred quid thrown on" gets you, from memory, an extra USB port, a reenginereed bike(although what exactly that means SEAT don't say), one years extra warranty on the battery and possibly crucially a larger network of service centers.

This is not new, not even 2022. It's just a Silence S01 with a Seat logo.

Tell us the REAL range on urban and top speed on dual carriageways...that's the real question some of us who may consider switching to electric .

I am owning silence s01, i can share my 1 year and 2100 miles XP:
      1. I love every minute I spend on it, so for me it is worth every pound i spent on it, i do not want anything else.
      2. It has 3 modes (eco/city/sport) - so far i did not need sport at all, inside london is easy. 50 mph easy on city.
      3. Most annoying thing is speed display, it is +10%. Checked by GPS. So declared range is -10%, you also have to go 22, 33, 44 to have right speed in traffic.
      4. range: Other than -10% range is matching declared. Practically, on google maps way i do is 10.5 miles. I could go to work twice (10.5*2*2=42 miles) and each way would be 16% of battery. i'll have 36% after two runs (if I am not visiting some shops etc, but I would not go 3rd time as there might be some unexpected stuff - like big traffic and last thing you want is to move it manually - you can't bring bottle of the petrol =(. I mostly run eco, with some parts on city mode.
      4. Next annoying thing is Fahrenheit display. if you have speed in miles you have to have temperature in Fahrenheit's. Horribly annoying for me.
      5. Detachable battery works well, but you do not want big li-ion battery in your flat or house. But i guess it would be excellent if you charge it somewhere in your garage.
Ask if you want to know more =)

I do not have any dual carriageways to check - max speed limit i have 50mph, and to be fair I do not like high speeds on moped - i feel very vulnerable on moped on speeds > 30mph, and sometimes thinking i have 1 year old baby.
Overall i think if you need something for city - it is perfect. Any electric outside of cities - junk. Buy petrol for that.

I have done a few short motorway jaunts (over 1 junction), managed 65 mph, but that is not what it is made for. After 18 months ownership I have found the range indicator fairly accurate. Furthest I have gone using major roads and duel carriageway is 48 miles, which included a lot of hills, so not bad at all. Around town in eco mode 75 miles would be attainable in reasonably warm weather.
