I agree that it should not be viewed as a kink, but it's not like naming a sex act is some super uncommon thing. There are very few things in sex that don't have a weirdly specific name, so not calling pegging pegging seems to me to make it stand out more from other sex acts, than just giving it a name.

    • @lemo8986
      @lemo8986 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

i think what she meant was more like changing the name to something fresh and less stigmatized. which is entirely in the realm of possibility, i think, bcuz pegging is a slang word and slang changes constantly

@@lemo8986 I disagree, the example she gave was using anal sex with a dildo - so no slang, no new terms.
Kind of like masturbation. Most people don't really differentiate between masturbation with or without a toy. Why is anal different?

@@lemo8986 There's two separate criticism of the term. The first is that there is an issue with the particular word and where it came from so it should be changed. But there is also a separate group of people who believe that there shouldn't be a term for it at all. Hannah discussed the second criticism on an episode of Doing It with Quinn Rhodes.

    • @lemo8986

@@BeingTheHunt then i guess i misunderstood what she was trying to say, my bad!
if that was her meaning, then i think there should be a word for those who want to use it and those who dont can avoid using it. Its like music genres, to some theres just pop, rap, metal, etc but to those who want to be more specific theres pop-punk, trap rap, and death metal. if that makes sense
as for where it came from, savage is a bit of a dumbass but, personally, i think putting it up to a vote was a good idea. let the people decide, art from the artist, blah blah blah. perhaps someone else in future who isnt a vile person could make another vote and try for a new term if we need one at all

@@lemo8986 Yes, if people use a word to refer to something then that's what it means, no offence is intended by it. I know Hannah is a fan of using many different words to define other things, why should sex acts be different? To me it's like she's saying someone shouldn't say they're "going to the shop", they should say they're "going out".

5:44 Even if something is "female in some way" it seems very problematic that that would make it "degrading, humiliating, or weak" for a man to do. This isn't just a homophobic idea, this is very much a sexist idea. The Ancient Romans saw being penetrated as weak and feminine, and made you less of a man, and that wasn't rooted in homophobia but sexism, and a controlling idea of class and gender (and that being a woman made you like a slave and that being a slave made you like a woman).

I think it is interesting how penetrating is socially perceived as being synonymous with having power. While from one angle one might see the act of penetration as being powerful (given that one is "entering someone else's territory" or one is dominating the other, which is an act of power), from another angle, the act of providing "space" for penetration, the act of facilitating the passage of something, might be viewed as powerful as well.
Take perhaps a silly example of a phone charger in an electric socket. Is one of these positions, being the charger or the socket, more powerful than the other? No. It is the social context that assigns power to these positions.

Hi, Hannah! First of all, thank you for this video it was very informative and fun. The topic of pegging is really nuanced, as it gets at the heart of a lot of the frankly damaging social ideas around penises, penetration, and power. It is a cultural reality in our society that penises and penetration are associated with power, and I feel like you pointed that out often when talking about why strapping it on can make people feel empowered and help them embody new or different roles in sex. I also recognize that many of the ideas you were sharing came directly from people who like pegging, whose ideas reasonably reflect these cultural ideals. I worry though that you didn't take the time to critique some of the harmful aspects of this idea. I appreciate you pointing out the perspective that "pegging" as a term sanitizes the act of anal sex, but I feel you didn't really address the harmful nature of the cultural association of penises with power. The confidence that comes from pegging is real, but it comes from outdated and harmful beliefs about gender and genitals. Penises are just genitals, and while the cultural association with power is relevant in discussions of pegging, it is not inherent. The act of getting fucked in the ass is not inherently submissive, it is just one of many ways to experience pleasure. The association of penises with power, and of being penetrated with being submissive reinforces a fear we have in our society of penises, which harms transfeminine people with penises, and maintains systems of homophobia, transphobia, and misogyny. This video was extremely well crafted, and I am not about to start calling people out for using the term pegging, but I feel in this context I would be remiss not to point out how reinforcing the association of penises with power (rather than critiquing it) maintains certain systems of oppression. Thanks again for the thoughtful video, I really love your content!

You rise a good point, Try to remember everybody is different and enjoy different aspects. But I think its the power dynamic that most people enjoy, at least for me.
Being bent over is very valuable position with no direct control, So it takes trust which is a great bonding excise. When I'm submissive I gain a lot of indirect control and feel powerful, more powerful then topping.
Obviously everyone is different, so difficult people enjoy different aspects, But I do think it not cultural but mostly inherent for many people.

    • @nicojones1139
      @nicojones1139 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

@@pupip55 I really appreciate your perspective here! I want to clarify that I don't think it is wrong or bad for people to feel powerful in various sexual positions -- again, that confidence is real and a product of very real social relationships! And I agree that bottoming can feel both vulnerable AND powerful. I do want to encourage you to think about why you think attaching certain meanings to certain positions is inherent. Physical pleasure is inherent and may be associated with specific positions, but the meanings we associate with those positions aren't.

To me, the one that is dominating is the one penetrating. It's my POV, and I think majority thinks like me, idk...
Also, to me, a straight male that likes to be penetrated, it's not really straight, but bissexual. To me that's just how it is, straight males only like to penetrate females, not being penetrated, even if by their female partner. A so called straight male that's likes being penetrated it is just someone affraid to admit is own sexuality, and can "get a taste of it" without being called bissexual or gay, wich is still perceived as offensive to most of them, Because of well, society, you know what I mean.
In the end, doesn't really matter how you indentify, how you have pleasure or who you have it with, or what do you call it. They're just labels and names, that's all.
Again, this is my own POV, each rightfully has its own, based on many things.
In the end, just do whatever you want and be respectful towards everybody else, and be happy 💪🙏✌❤

So, the comment about lube is super on point. It tends to be pretty dry back there, and trying to force things can lead to tearing which you _really_ want to avoid. It also ups the friction, which can lead to other potential health consequences I think we'd all like to avoid, as well. If you're using a toy, then make sure you have a lube that won't damage it. For the first time, use a *lot.* You can dial it down in subsequent sessions until you know where the sweet spot is.
And make sure to test it on all participants prior to fun time to ensure nobody has any surprise allergies or sensitivities. Finding out "the hard way" is absolutely unfun when talking about sex. I learned I have a sensitivity to the spermicide on some condoms my boyfriend had that way, and it was pretty much hell until my body managed to flush everything. I'd hate to think what would have happened were I legitimately allergic.

I love that you said, your sexuality still is valid if you do not have sex. As someone who doesn't really have sex or even associates with dating (not for not wanting it, just busy life lol) and someone who used to strongly identify as gay - over the last few years my lack of interactions with queer people in the community or even being attracted to people of the same gender or not having the experience that I thought I should have - has made me question if I really even am on the queer spectrum anymore. Numerous conversations and reassurances with friends definetley make me feel better about the fact that sexual history or attraction or anything does not have to do with how you identify - But this one line feels like a mantra that I should adopt when I'm feeling a bit off.

Hello Hannah! This may sound odd. But I work in an art museum where one of our most famous artworks is 72 vagina cast moulds, from all walks of life age ect, all different, all beautiful! While I was dusting them (making them presentable) it got me thinking... would you ever consider doing a video on this subject? And maybe the difference in pre vs post birth? I know there's not that much information on how your vulva feels/heals/looks after baby and the subject is very taboo. I feel like it would be such a great educational video. Just food for thought! Thanks for your time! And congratulations on your pregnancy! Sending love ❤ and good vibes!! Feel free to reach out if you'd like more information on the artwork!

tangent thought, if the pegger lays down on their back and the peggee sits on the strapon and rides it, is it still pegging? Like if the sub/dom roles are reversed but the strapon wearer/receiver are kept the same, does it need a new term or does it still fall into the same? --edit-- position mentioned at 12:08, so i guess in this context the "roles" have no bearing on the term just the strapon/anal defines it

Where you are right, you are right. There is never too much lube. There are only idiots who buy it from the wrong store.
Humans are also nothing more than a dry-nosed primate aka mammal.
The lube a vet uses will do the job just as well as the sex shop stuff, it's just a lot more affordable.
At an online dealer in Germany, for example, KERBL Lubricating Gel VetGel costs between €9.14/l and €5.38/l for a purchase of 5 bottles, all including VAT and shipping. 2, 3 or 4 liters are in between, the stuff is also a little cheaper in 5-liter canisters, but handling it in the bedroom/playroom at home is more unwieldy. The 1 liter bottle is the better solution and if you buy more at once the price is right too. Whereby the provider and price is only an example, if you search, you will certainly always find a cheaper offer, also from other manufacturers.
"Lubricating gel to make hands and arms slippery and an excellent skin protection during rectal and vaginal examinations" says in the description, so it's not only suitable for pegging, but also for fisting.
Since it is water-based, it does not damage the silicone toys either.

    • @kevindaniel9924
      @kevindaniel9924 ปีที่แล้ว

No, it isnt because its a trauma or anything. Its just for us men, we arent used to being fucked, we are used to fucking. While pegging itself isnt inherently a femdom thing, there is an undeniable power exchange in it from the side of the man to and in favor of the woman. So, that power exchange is one we as men we arent used to, so it makes the man feel emotionally vulnerable and in need of after care and holding the man close after it. And even it being more important if the woman decided to be dominant or display dominance in the bedroom, which would make the man feel more vulnerable despite both enjoying their time. Hope that answers your question.

I think it's interesting that it's called pegging and not anal sex. On the podcast "unladylike" they talked about how it's about "protecting" straight men from being associated with gay sex.

In the end, just do whatever you want and be respectful towards everybody else, and be happy 💪🙏✌❤"

Partially think it’s a question of dominance but also the unknown. Definitely would have to be steps in between as well, not going straight for it. I'm willing to try it for two reasons: 1) For prostate massage purposes. Because prostate massage has endless benefits. It is also discussed on Google, TH-cam and books. 2) For the purpose of gratification in it, so that the participants get a touch of heaven. I swear to God, if this is done carefully, then It will undoubtedly create great love between the couple. Otherwise it's so boring. ☺️☺️☺️

So here’s hoping he changed but thanks for bringing it up.

I've listened for several years. I think it's mostly from situations where he tried to make a joke and it was the wrong context or just wasn't funny, or someone just got offended when it was a decent joke. His jokes won't land the same for a younger vs older crowd, but far as I can tell he says what he does lovingly, and apologizes when his meaning doesn't come across. He's pretty supportive of everyone living their most authentic lives as long as that way doesn't truly harm anyone.

The notion that "penises and penetration are associated with power" is highly contestable actually, in fact, the archetypal image throughout the anthropological record of “The vagina dentata, or devouring feminine" paradigm runs quite contrary to the modern concept of a plain "dominate vs submissive" dialectic... this unfortunate reduction of a real sexual (or social for that matter) relationship to a simple binary dynamic is a fairly recent projection, throughout the vast majority of human history people understood relationships to be dynamically complex (composed of many components which may interact with each other).
-- In Homer's Odyssey, Odysseys is ensnared by the goddess Calypso, the description of the hero Odysseus at the point that he is rescued by Athena is a shocking refutation of our myopic mischaracterization of our past as psychologically shallow and/or "toxically masculine". Calypso in the Odyssey is a nymph who fell in love with Odysseus, one of the Trojan War’s heroes after he drifted into Calypso’s island of Ogygia. She was banished to this island as a punishment for siding with the Titans during the War of the Titans. Being the island’s sole inhabitant, Calypso was proclaimed ruler of Ogygia when Zeus created men. Calypso is commonly characterized as “maiden eternal,” insinuating her as impenetrable, but Calypso characteristics in the Odyssey are somewhat different. Homer speaks about her with admiration for who she is rather than what she looks like. However, as a sweet and charming nymph with immortal beauty, Calypso seduced Odysseus and offered him immortality so that he can stay with her and be her husband forever. She bestowed a cloak, a skin-tight shirt, and a leather wrap around Odysseus, ensuring that he would be protected from the elements while still obeying her every wish. Odysseus, on the other hand, was not persuaded and still intends to return to Penelope, his wife. As a result, Calypso imprisons Odysseus on the island for seven years and *forces him to be her lover*, making Odysseus miserable.
-- Lévi-Strauss (2004), analyzing Amerindian myths and taking the Toba-Pilaga group of South America as an example to address the mythical origin of women, relates that: "Formerly men used to hunt and store their supply of game on the thatched roofs of their huts. One day, in their absence, a group of women came down from the sky and stole all the meat. The same thing happened the next day, and the men, who did not know that women existed, set Rabbit to watch. But Rabbit slept all the time, and the grilled meat was stolen. The next day Parrot stood guard, hidden in a quebracho tree, and he saw the women, who had toothed vaginas. After remaining quiet and motionless at first, Parrot threw a fruit down from the tree onto the women who were feasting below. The women began by accusing each other and then they discovered Parrot and began to fight about whose husband he should be. They threw things at each other, and one of the sticks went astray and broke the bone under the parrot’s tongue. Being now struck dumb and compelled to express himself through gestures, he could not make the men understand what had happened."
The fact that the masculine phallus is quite literally subsumed by the feminine vagina in the act of intercourse reveals that the consideration of one being greater or lesser than the other has always been an really stupid way to think about it. These are just two examples off the top of my head which certainly would seem to contradict the common caricature of human history as basically: "oppressor male dominates oppressed submissive female":
The first instance in which the erasure of the divine feminine occurs is in Judaism, but because the mythological source of the Hebrew Bible was Babylonian the attempt to suppress the feminine aspects of Mesopotemian mythology ultimately failed to produce a culture in which the feminine had been repressed, the Abrahamic project of facilitating a patriarchal order to the exclusion of the feminine really only began to take root in Rome (and it's colonial territories) after the First Council of Nicaea established the first Christian canon in 325 CE... at which point the misogyny was really starting to simmer (as portended by the horrific murder of Hypatia of Alexandria by Christian zealots in 415 CE). Of course from then on the degrees of cultural misogyny fluctuated across time from: the fall of Rome (476 CE), the establishment of the first Caliphate and Islam by Muhammad (661 CE), the Byzantines, the Ottomans, through to the end of the medieval period (476 CE), and was finally challenged during the enlightenment (1685-1815 CE) out of which grew feminism and modernity as we know it today... despite the best of efforts the Abrahamic dogmas never managed to fully expunge ostensibly "Jewish"/"Christian"/"Islamic" peoples of their paganism, and thank the gods for that fact. Having laid the literary groundwork for what would eventually developed into the literary movement of romanticism, Goethe proclaimed the reasseration of the Feminine over the creative endeveaurs of post-enlightenment culture: "The eternal feminine draws us on high".

This is something me and my partner are interested in. I have been wondering because he would like me to peg him. Love to learn more from you. Thank you for this information!

Could do without the whole "power dynamics" and "role reversal" thing. Its not about that really.

at this point, we should be talking about what is wrong with people who dont like pegging😑

Surprised you didn't bring up douching when talking about the issue of shit.

'Only 30 !' I think that if you have not explored it by 30 you are not sexually curious or into exploration of sex. It's shameful that the word 'pegging' is a no-go word. It is not in anyway a violent connotation in it.

I wish more girls would peg... I even wish they'd come to get to know me already with pegging in mind...

It's extremely unlikely to get shit anywhere when pegging if the peggee prepared properly with douching or enemas
