Just finishing a room for our Grandson with pine ceiling, two Eastern Cedar walls and the other two walls with regular wall board for added character. On the wood we finished with Poly urethane Satan finished and looks spectacular. Cedar was from our farm that we did also mill as ship lap ourselves. The brothers of my grandson now what their own rooms like that so I guess I will be busy. Time to sharpen the chain saw...LOL
Stain with a darker stain then trim with bright white to make it pop I did that in a bathroom remodel a few years ago and painted walls with wedge wood blue looked nice
I’ve been thinking of a way to finish my basement ceiling. It’s already a bit low so I don’t want to use a suspended ceiling grid system. I like this idea but I would like the flexibility to remove some pieces if I need access to plumbing. It would be a shame to paint that nice birch. Maybe some sort of clear finish would look nice.
Pine can often go yellow after time.if you want natural look, give it couple of coats of water based Varnish. Will seal the wood, smooth the surface and stop it being a dust trap? If he's having strong colour choice for walls & frames, then continue with paint.
Looks like making hard work of it to me. Think I’d have just used a router to put fake joints in the full sheets (if that makes sense) Just my opinion tho 😊. End result looks good tho 👍🏻
Personally, I like the natural look of the wood. Nice work on that ceiling! 👍👍
Thank you, it is looking good.
looks nice the way it is... country looking. Great job!
Thank you very much!
Great project! I wouldn’t paint the planks but rather throw a white wash stain on them. Really enjoyed this video.
Great idea, thanks

Awesome! It's nice to have your own supply of wood.
And the equipment. Having said that, you are a pleasure to watch and learn from.
Thank you very much.
I would leave it natural as it makes the room feel cozy!
Thank you for your input. I like the idea.

Came out great. I would leave it as is, or stain it. But not paint

The walls are going to be a light grey color.
Awesome! Thanks
Natural Look! NO PAINT
Ok, thank you very much
I'm going to do this type of ceiling in my garage, but I'll use thinner plywood and I'm not going to cut those notches because it's only a garage.
I think painting it a glossy white would look nice.
Awesome
That looks awesome!
It does!
Stain it, then clear sealer, if they don’t like that, then go back and paint it.
Thank you, excellent idea.
My suggestion is to paint it ceiling white to brighten up the room, you can always soften the lighting with the light source😁🛫
I like this idea

It was more of the repetitive process than anything and yes it did take quite a bit of time. Thank you, I like the end result also.

Oak stain or varnish

Paint would be a travesty ! Maybe a light stain and then varnish it !!
Thank you, I will add your choice to the list.
I would be straining it will be better
What color do you think the stain should be?
@@lunnymav I think should be done with ork

Your “tutorial” is for professionals who perhaps already have the equipment and the skills. What’s your point, who’s your audience?
My audience is the almost 15000 people who have watched this video. I appreciate you watching as well. Thank you
you can't get a simple router table and do what the pros do to achieve professional results?
Yes, you can but again maybe the people don’t have a router table
Whew! Lots of labor there.
Yes, but at least I did not have to install it on the ceiling.
