2023 Christmas Trains: Scientific Toys/EZTEC North Pole Express and Grand Canyon Express Trains

- This is a long overdue request from someone who watched one of my reviews on these trains. Anyways, for the 2023 holiday season, here’s my North Pole Express and Grand Canyon Express train sets in action as they duel each other around the Christmas tree! The North Pole Express takes the outer loop while the Grand Canyon Express takes the inner loop. While I was running the sound on both sets, the Grand Canyon Express is so loud that it pretty much made the North Pole Express barely audible; you can hear the latter briefly during the close-up portions of the video. All newer trains made by EZTEC now have their volume significantly toned down.
These trains have been around for a long time, and continue to be a Christmas favorite! And fun fact: Lionel at one point also made trains in this style. The train I’m referring to in this case is their 24-piece Holiday train set. Although Lionel no longer makes these, Scientific Toys and EZTEC have continued the tradition. Of course, there has been many modifications since then, including the batteries being relocated from the tender to the locomotive cab, the detailing being reduced, and the (unfortunate) removal of doors on the box car. Despite these factors, these are still just as fun as the first one ever made. In fact, the battery tender model is still made for certain customers, mainly Disney, whose train sets often come with figurines that are able to hop aboard.
With this information all out of the way, enjoy the two dueling trains as they make their runs around the Christmas tree! Also sorry for the brief hand shot; I was going to remove it but I already had so much good footage of the trains that I decided to just let it go. And please, enjoy the rest of your holidays!
And yes, I know the tree is off-center (lol), not to mention the inner loop not being perfect in the middle of the outer loop. There unfortunately wasn’t enough space to position the tree in the middle of the inner loop, since the main goal was to place it so that it was visible from the center window. That also limited the placement of the inner loop.
Awesome video. I have that same Grand Canyon Express set up shown in the middle. Mine is currently around my Christmas tree.

The manufacturer still makes these! There’s also a lot of these for sale on eBay.
Funny enough, from what I have recently realized, Scientific Toys, the manufacturer of these classic train sets (one of which I've had since 2004), actually created the EZTEC technology in the 1980s, and continues to carry this technology with them ever since.
Do feel free to correct me on some of that, but I figured I'd point that out.
