I joined your channel cause I had bought a game called Kantai Collection on my PSVITA at the time and wanted to understand how to play it. Now i watch for coffee and stay for relaxed commentary.
Man, you are so chill, didn't except to watch and listen a random guy talk about his life... Well, i assume you learned to me that coffee and a calm voice can keep viewer to view. Thank you !
Thank you so much for making this video. I’ve always enjoyed video games since I was a kid, but I’ve never had the motivation to get really into them until the last few years. I’m glad that I’m not really alone in this! :)
I'm not a Gamer but got connected to your channel when I found your video on Wonderfest . I don't watch much of the Gaming videos but the Travel video's is why I subscribed . Keep doing the Travel video's too.
I'm a Canadian living in Japan (2 months now!) and I'm so glad I found your channel. I draw, too, and game a little (Vita, Steam, LoL)! Anyway, found your channel shortly after moving here and I'm going through your videos and getting excited and motivated to play games, get some new tech(like a Switch and a camera), get caffeinated and learn the language. Great content!!
I'm a couple days late on this but this was an interesting watch! As a fan who is very much a gamer (my games sitting above me on my desk at this moment) it's understandable that everyone has that one game that ropes them into playing video games. It's really cool that you're able to appreciate the medium even more now as opposed to before! My first game was the first one I ever played, Mega Man Legends when I was just 4. It blew me away that I could be this other person and play in a world that is unlike our own.
I remember how I joined your Content. I was searching for Comparision Between 3ds's and liked Your Channel A Lot .Keep Progressing like this NIHONGOGAMER. And make more VIDEOS on WALK AROUND JAPAN, I LOVE IT A LOT.
Man....time passes by so quickly, I think I've been following for....2-3 years. The transition from learning from japanese from games into.....the channel it is now was so natural. I did see that the focus of the channel did change, but the video content was so interesting, I partially got into gaming because I watched your videos, so it was a welcomed change. (Ahhh, watching coffee seep down from its foamy form is so relaxing. Thank you always for these coffee segments. I can't drink coffee, so these are satisfying.) AND YESSS, i like buying games, but I hardly have time to play them! I feel fulfilled just having them! (Until I started playing Splatoon and shovel knight with a friend via co-op.) But I don't have much time for them, that's what playthroughs/reviews with YTgamers videos are for. I will say that video games make my life feel more full when I do get around to playing them.
Your Channel is pretty cool and I Gravitate to The Gaming Community, I Respect what you do and Keep up the goodness that is Gaming. I been playing Video Games for almost 30 Years and man video games are getting better and better. Much Love From Las Vegas
i found you cause i bought a switch and you had the most content about the details that i couldnt help but watch. now i like anything you do on this channel because of your take on things! thanks NihongoGamer. also that song is cool as heck!
I appreciate your channel and your insight especially on life in japan I’ve always been curious but haven’t been able to go yet. You talk about all type of things I’m into joysticks and such. Most of the Japanese I know is through video games fighting ones in particular breaking down the special moves wanting to know what they mean watching the characters on screen what they do versus what they say.
Just want to say your content is great and I enjoy joining in on your streams when I can. The word gamer is one I’ve never liked as when I was a kid (35 now) the word gamer was associated with being a nerd. Now it seems ok or even cool to be a gamer. All I know is my love for gaming is still the same if not more than ever. Playing more fighting games as I get older which ties in nicely with your content and started playing Ni No Kuni 2 with my 5 year old recently as it’s cartoony style is great. Anyway sorry for the long comment but yeah keep doing what your doing. Thanks!!!
NihongoGamer no problem. I’m also a big coffee fan btw. Going to buy a Kalita after seeing your vids to compliment my Aeropress and Gaggia Classic. Ok maybe I’m addicted. Lol
Interesting that this channel originated with the intent to talk about the best games you can play to learn Japanese. But something like this would work if things like Google Translate and how Japanese culture and technology evolved over the years. I definitely do agree that learning languages by associating it with things in a video game would help but actual everyday use...maybe not so much.
I thank you for making me smile, today is gonna be a great day. I can't believe i have been watching for over 3 years. You have made me a happier person.
This was a wonderful video. I often say to my friends that I like games, I don't have the same passion for them as I do film though. When I play games it is to experience the system mechanics, to think of the game design that when into them, and the effectiveness of the developer's intentions. I do have fun playing them, but that is the fun part for me- the analysis of the game. Pulling off the 30-hit combo, acquiring the bronze trophy, and so on- meaningless. There is no particular enjoyment I take in those aspects.
Great video, I can see why you branched out into other topics. I’d definitely like to see some more learning Japanese through games videos though! :) love the idea of taking notes while playing and sharing with others too!
Like your videos for the akekon info! Appreciate the artistic touch! I know Japan has (in comparison to the US) thriving arcade scene. Do you ever participate in FGC events in arcades or elsewhere?
Love the content you put out. Welcome to the world of gamers! It's only recently I started to get back into playing my Nintendo 3DS. I've been so addicted to mobile games for the past couple of years.
I remember one of the first videos I saw from this channel was you playing a game and giving rough translations of what was being said and such. I forgot that until just now. But it got me to subscribe.
great video! I probably see myself as a gamer though even if i dont play everyday i still get the urge to get the enjoyment out off playing games and i usually stick to one game at a time and try to focus on getting good on that . Though i usually switch genre from time to time because i wanna enjoy multiple or learn type off games while keeping myself challanged.
I call myself a gamer because I like to buy a huge bundle of them at a time (For example in 2017 and 2018 I bought the PS4 Kingdom Hearts collections, FFXV, NieR:Automata, Persona 5, Monster Hunter: World, Ni no Kuni 2, Tales of Berseria, Disgaea 5, multiple Fire Emblem games, multiple Pokémon games, Breath of the Wild for Switch, and Xenoblade 2 in only 3 GameStop visits) and then complete them and then buy another fresh bundle. I’ve always been a JRPG gamer since SNES/PS1. Bought many PlayStation and Nintendo consoles over the years to satisfy my JRPG addiction. It’s like grocery shopping for me.
Watching you gets .a through my dull momments in life which are many and far stretched in between. I got into your channel recently through the 30th anniversary streetfighter videos.fighting games and fight sticks. I find common ground with that and the ritual that is coffee plus I dream of Japan and folding bikes haha more street fighter alpha please. Keep up the great work . Oh the cute girl Lolita Cathy cat or something rather mhm more that too she's a looker that one ; ) have a nice day. Nihongogamer fan, take care.
This ultra good video!!! That's how I learned English and ended in UK... 13 years now.. Lol This video completely reminds me about my journey to English language!!!! Iam glad cause iam subscribed to you few months ago!! I don't like fighting games but I adore your coffee content and videos like this!!!!! Keep them coming up!!!! I still love Vita more than Switch !!! Especially now after Loverim and EmuParadise crap... Shame a but on Nintendo!! I love love Sony!!!!!!
I noticed when i started playing mutiplayer games i genuinely enjoyed playing games the most, it started with Halo 3 and Call of Duty MW2. It was the competitive aspect that grabbed me, i do enjoy SP games but i honestly would rarely finish them especially the more cinematic titles, i always enjoyed the games where the gameplay was the main attraction. It wasn't until i decided to give SSF4 a real try, that it scratched that sweet spot, that competitive aspect and supreme control one had over their character and you could "express" yourself through it. Creating your own combos, tactics, setups. Basically since 2011 i've only been buying and playing Fighting Games, once you get over that initial hurdle and really get into one FG and really tried to learn. That's when the door to entire genre is opened because learning one FG well will make learning any other FG so much easier, you know what to look for and how to approach learning a FG. I used to think it was a "phase" but ive yet to experience the satisfaction i get from playing a FG against a human opponent in any other gaming genre. Maybe future VR games is the next step. Sorry for the rant, however i could really emphatize with you and how fg's made an impact on you.
Man I only been buying games but not really finishing. I think the most recent game I actually finished was Moss in VR since it was short and charming enough, otherwise I can't remember finishing a game in forever.
I started watching the channel when i was doing research on drawing tablets and I wanted to see what the Huion Tablet was like. I went down the rabbit hole since, :D
Currently stuck in this rut where I'll buy games and not commit to playing them or stop after a day or two. I haven't felt like a gamer since I used to play League competitively and compete in small tourneys. I miss the long binge sessions but league isn't fun anymore. I haven't found the game yet that sucks me in enough to complete the story sadly.
Watching lots of your old videos. Amazing channel. What kind of job did you first do in japan. Iv always loved the idea to live there since i was a child and i dont speak japanese yet so thought it would be impossible.
I taught English. Didn’t really speak any Japanese until I arrived. Most people are able to hold a conversation after roughly a year living here id say
In my opinion, if you enjoy games you're a gamer. Someone can play video games and dislike them, they wouldn't call themselves a gamer nor would anyone else. Another thing, some people define being a gamer by playtime. How do you know exactly how long someone's played a game? What if someone has to play less due to rough economic times? Some people also define being a gamer as how many games you play. What if someone has over 8000 hours in BlazBlue? Are they not a gamer? That's why I figured the best way to make an understandable definition of a gamer is someone who enjoys games, maybe even an enthusiast.
Here's the problem though. Your definition right there is basically my definition sure, but what you posted below that contradicts that notion. What if those 15 minutes each day on your commute to work all the time someone has to play games? Each round of a fighting game lasts 3 minutes maximum, so that's 5 rounds per day and thus 35 rounds per week. To some people, mostly busy people, that's the dedication they can put into games and thus they are gamers. Games still matter to them, they just can't spend as much time. I'd count mobile gaming, too. There is a lot of trash, but there's also a lot of good games. The runner games SEGA makes (Sonic Dash, Sonic Runners, Sonic Forces Speed Battle) are good, Super Mario Run, BlazBlue RR, and more. Plus, emulators exist. You can play anything from 5th gen and earlier, which includes PS1, N64, and anything before that. Also, you can emulate Dreamcast and PSP games to your phone, as well as remote to your PC using apps like Parsec. It's not about how much time you've spent or how much money you've spent. What if someone spent 10k hours on a free to play MMO? What if someone spent $10k on games they never play? It's not about money or time, it's about enjoyment. Gamers enjoy games, whether they're video games or not even. And trust me, video games are not that huge of a divide from tabletop games either, take it from a game designer and developer since 10 years of age (12 years experience so far).
You should try getting into Gundam model kits if you haven't already. I think it's something you might enjoy doing, sitting down and slowly assembling pieces to build a kick ass robot mecha thing. Plus you live in JP so they should be easier and cheaper to come by. The RG line is great but maybe start with HG?
Starting to get into fighting games now actually. I like short bursts of gaming and also the rush of competition. I have RPGs but they don’t interest me as much
i admit the only reason i play games i never played before is because i figured"hmm..maybe i can do First Play videos with these obscure games i never played"(i didn't get the idea from this channel by the way)if it wasn't for that i probably wouldn't even bother to play a game i heard about. and also yes, while i do play certain games that i genuinely enjoy i just don't have the will to try and finish it.
Super curious, why do you never rinse your paper filter prior to brewing coffee on it? Wouldn’t it gives papery taste to the coffee? Once I forgot to rinse the paper filter and the coffee taste very bad
Its socially acceptable - and a result (with help of the internet; social accounts) there are communities. It might have started as work for him, but he stayed because it was fun.
I always been a gamer since i was around age 4.. im in my early 20s and i still say im a gamer even tho i haven't been playing a ton of video games lately.. and surely i dont always buy every single game system out their.. expect the ones i grew up on allot of ps1,ps2 and gamecube as well as ds and also a few systems to.. but i also was always been a nerd for building pc and stuff learning about it. 🤔 i gotta say chicks digs a guy whos a gamer as well other stuff... im a mystery at my own peek haha. I do try learning some Japanese since i love anime
I've always just played games alone mostly. Of course online as well. Hard to consider you a true gamer if u don't play on your free time... You have to crave playing games and be passionate to be a real gamer imo
I have a question well more like i want to hear your opinion. my sister was confused on why I keep getting games that are remade that I've played in the past already, she says I could get ni no Kuni 2 and so on and so on instead and get a new experience. do you think revisiting game such as Okami as an example multiple times? in a way that I myself love reliving the past games and like re-immersing myself into that game. I've played Okami on the ps2 and ps4 and I look forward to playing it again on the switch.
I played the Japanese Version of Project Cross Zone because I bought my first 3DS Game in Japan and later I bought a 3DS in Japan and I didn't realized the regionlock from DS-i to 3DS because I also bought Jump Ultimate Stars for DS and that worked. But what I learned is that Japanese in Games or Interfaces are rather english, スキル(Skill)、アイテム(Item) not really Japanese tbh but i think it's funny and I call it Katakana English ^^
Honestly, you kinda look like me in that regard (buying mainly fighting games). I played fighting games for ages since I can remember, but just recently(by the end of the PS3 era) I notice how many fighting games I own compared to all other genres in my game library together... and damm... I think all other games genders combined, would barely scratch the size of my fighting games list. And so I thought to myself: " Guess I do love fighting the games the most, huh!?" Even now, this also happen in my Ps4 library as well, again. (Guess which folder holds the most games from the 101 I have currently installed...)
Yeah that’s similar for me! When I look back at my collection I realise that I’ve always been buying fighting games, just wasn’t playing them especially seriously until recently
If u like street fighter then u should play smash bros ultimate when it comes out. Only been looking at ur vids for 2 weeks now but I subbed already nice job.
Dude, i was following you just because I was curious about what is it to live in Japan. Actually I do play fighting games, but this is not the reason I watch ur videos. And my favorites are those ones : talk & coffee. Just because I love to watch u making coffee in the Japanese way. I'm not telling u to stop making game videos. But if u can make more videos about other things that u like, I guess it will more fun for u as for us. Drawing, coffee, debate, outside event : this kind of videos are great, please don't stop your plurality.
I joined your channel cause I had bought a game called Kantai Collection on my PSVITA at the time and wanted to understand how to play it. Now i watch for coffee and stay for relaxed commentary.
😁
same
I agree that spending some time to play videogames at home is always a great feeling. Very relaxing too.
It's the best thing ever. Yet my mom thinks im mentally ill when I do this...
I thought this was a channel about coffee
Man, you are so chill, didn't except to watch and listen a random guy talk about his life...
Well, i assume you learned to me that coffee and a calm voice can keep viewer to view.
Thank you !

Cool story and loved the end part about how you also get home from work and want to play video games
Keep it up :)

It's great to listen what was the transition for you. I love your content, keep up the good work.
I thank you for making me smile, today is gonna be a great day. I can't believe i have been watching for over 3 years. You have made me a happier person.
this means a lot to me! thanks!
I found your channel from you unboxing fight sticks. But now I really dig you just talking and making coffee

Chocobo Rider nice profile picture
While I'm making coffee is my favourite series!
Its good to see you being so positive. Gaming is great
I still need to finish many of the games I've brought. Haven't touched them in 4-5 years. ; __ ;

This is so nostalgic! I remember when you bought the switch!

Man I only been buying games but not really finishing. I think the most recent game I actually finished was Moss in VR since it was short and charming enough, otherwise I can't remember finishing a game in forever.

I like your videos because they help me to reinforce my English and especially to hear you talk about video games I like and I also love coffee
Love your videos 🤗
I started watching the channel when i was doing research on drawing tablets and I wanted to see what the Huion Tablet was like. I went down the rabbit hole since, :D
i found your channel through your 3ds unboxing!

Try Siege it's very competitive and fun. You can also play it casually and still l have fun
Is it only me that have to make a cup of coffee every time I watch one of these videos?
Watching lots of your old videos. Amazing channel. What kind of job did you first do in japan. Iv always loved the idea to live there since i was a child and i dont speak japanese yet so thought it would be impossible.

I hate coffee but I enjoy just chilling here, listening to your stories with an ice cold cola as you make coffee
I really like watching this series as I do my homework
I do a lot of thing in my free time like reading watching TV or playing games and exspicaly listing to music
Playstation 4 Fighting Climax
It is a solid 2Dfighting game
finally coffe!
I really really enjoy content. And You're background music is always on point. And ultimately i appreciate your honesty. がんばったねくどさい
Ayyyyeeeeeeee MIDORI! I use that app too!
Definitely a topic I’ve been wanting to cover in a coffee video when I’ve got time :)
NihongoGamer oh! I'll look forward to that as always!
Just keep making videos. Some of us enjoy watching your content.
Fighting games are the best. You should try playing at the arcades tho, if I lived in Japan I wouldn't miss this opportunity. Thanks for your videos!
Since you mentioned watching Tv-Dramas, do you watch Kamen Rider or Super Sentai shows?
I call myself a gamer because i simply like the art of games i just treat games like art the experience is just simply amazing
When I was an English teacher I always stressed to students that context is important for nailing vocab.
And so I thought to myself:
" Guess I do love fighting the games the most, huh!?"
Even now, this also happen in my Ps4 library as well, again.
(Guess which folder holds the most games from the 101 I have currently installed...)
Yeah that’s similar for me! When I look back at my collection I realise that I’ve always been buying fighting games, just wasn’t playing them especially seriously until recently
I became a gamer when i put my first cartridge of sonic the hedgehog 2 in the genesis. When i was 12! Im not a tuber but i am damn well, a gamer.
It’s all about finding your beating path.
That's a very deep video.
it makes me feel good.
True. I like buying games too
I miss your old desk when you do coffee episode... how about using a "real" desk while having coffee?
Can you list your coffee equipment 😀
Hmm ads just before the pouring stage.
This video made me want to go and make coffee too.
You should do stick envy with BBTAG
What do you think of the japanese version of undertale?
If u like street fighter then u should play smash bros ultimate when it comes out. Only been looking at ur vids for 2 weeks now but I subbed already nice job.
such gucci roast and finally ive become a commenter
Dude, i was following you just because I was curious about what is it to live in Japan. Actually I do play fighting games, but this is not the reason I watch ur videos. And my favorites are those ones : talk & coffee. Just because I love to watch u making coffee in the Japanese way. I'm not telling u to stop making game videos. But if u can make more videos about other things that u like, I guess it will more fun for u as for us. Drawing, coffee, debate, outside event : this kind of videos are great, please don't stop your plurality.
Welcome to the Gamer Club!
I actually got here for the japanese language, and stayed for the coffee
