Chevy GMC Camaro Malfunctioning Radio faceplate control panel-known GM Issue

  • I have a 2013 Chevy Camaro. I have had radio issues for about the last 6 months. First started out as cutting off and on all the time. Then it would stop working for longer periods of time. Now it doesn’t come on at all. Using turn signals or pushing in the clutch initially would make the radio stop working. Now my turn signals have no sound and the heat and air will not work. I called Chevy customer service 1-800-222-1020 and made a claim for my issues and was given a case number. Chevy then gave me a number for NHTSA. This is a government safety recall at 1-888-327-4236. I called that number and gave them my case number . What they do is enter claims and see if there are enough complaints to issue a recall. So, if you are having the same issues please call and report them. The more people that call, the better chances of a recall being issued.

    to anyone having this conflict, its the radio receiver unit that is the problem. I took my car to my guy who is a car nerd and he checked all fuses and said everything if fine, so it must be the receiver is "shot". What you need to do is go on ebay, buy a matching radio receiver unit for your car that is unlocked and take it to your local audio car store and have them install it. I bought a used unlock radio receiver unit for about $125 for a 2015 ls camaro on ebay and the install at my local shop cost around $240. The dealership wanted to charge me almost $850 for the same service. It takes a little time to find the matching part but you can go the audio store that you want to install the unit at, have them take out the old one, and have them tell you the part#. My a/c, radio, and turn signals all started working after installing this used part.

    I had the same issue...it cost me a lot to repair and the issue caused an actuator in my AC unit to break, which caused me additional repair costs. In all I have spent over 4-5k to fix the issue. It's been 3-4 years now and I just heard a pop in my speakers when turning on the car today, the radio then would not play FM stations but would play AUX. I too have a 2013.

    Both I and my father have a 13 Camaro 1LS. Both cars have this same radio problem. Mine at less than 35,000 miles, his at just over 58,000. I will be sure both cars are documented. This is definitely widespread, and definitely a NHTSA compliance issue. No door or seatbelt chime, no signal sound, etc.

      @@Sn66Kee I managed to fix it pretty cheap. The part number you want is 22923803 - radio receiver. They're readily available used. If you are somewhat handy, it isn't hard to replace. You'll have to find a GM dealer willing to reflash it for you because it is VIN locked.

    I just recently got my air issue fixed in my 2013 and it was outrageous how much they charged to remove the dash and replace the actuator because the door had broken off (the part was only 25.00). Just for that it was $1,200 to pull the dash and I was out of a vehicle for a week. I’ve had the car for almost three years and have put right at 30,000 on it. It’s only at 88,000 miles and it’s insane.
    My radio originally went out the first year I had the vehicle, but my air still worked. I knew someone who replaced a small part in the radio and it’s fixed it until now. Two weeks ago my radio started flashing when I start my vehicle. 🙄 I’ve already went through this struggle and it’s frustrating.
    I wish they would address this issue because it’s just one thing after another with this certain model, as many people have had issues with as well.
    I’ve thought about trading it in for something else, but I honestly love having a car that I can depend on for the most part and having to start over on payments worries me 🤦🏼‍♀️

      @lepgirlphx 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LB Humphrey Hah! I’m with you abt everything you said! Had mine for 7 years and still want to keep it! I don’t want payments for a while, I had to have my dash pulled 6 months ago too with windshield to fix the a/c-heater & was $2800! Now this problem & I’m worried. I would even consider getting a new camaro but don’t want payments yet & if this what’s going to happen with Camero’s now, I don’t want to go thru all this again. Do you get yours fixed yet?

      There's a video out there that I tried and worked cutting ahole in the plastic with a hot knife to pull the blend flap out from the side instead of removing the dash. Call the numbers and make a case. Eventually they need to have a recall with so many people calling. Well, if they care they will issue one!!

      @@harleyheather4208 well I'm kind of in a different boat as far as the dealership sending me notices to buy my car back catching me at a time when I need the money and fortunately they basically quoted me a price and didn't follow through because the sales manager claimed that my car had damages up to $3,000 this was totally wrong it was a way for them to try and get me at a lower price I wasn't going to fall for it because of the circumstances in the end I ended up with new radio and a new tail light courtesy of the dealership so I guess I kind of worked itself out surprisingly enough here it was willing to place my radio after 2 years as well as the tail light so just curious did you put in another factory stereo I'm guessing if it is doing the same thing it must be I picked up my own stereo and they paid for it

      Ha, ha NO. Between the face plate and control panel, it was $1200. My heat and air still doesn’t work, but my radio does now. Chevy did give me a $700 voucher good towards Chevy upgrades. So, I did get a free exhaust system. It actually sounds pretty good too.

    I have called today March 26 , 2022, and what the agent told me was, i have to take the car to the dealership and pay the diagnostic because they never receive a call with that issue. They asked me for my last 8 of VIN # AND THE MILEAGE, also my car is 2013 i got it like 2 years ago from carmax obviously the warranty already expired they gonna tell you that , so im just gonna replace the radio and fix it myself i dont want to give them any money... for diagnostic. I traded it in at toy barn and got a zl1 . But anyways when I bought the v6 I had a 6 year 100,000 mile warranty . The warranty should cover that . Because it is part of the electrical system.

      It started that problem at 25000 miles . When I bought the car it had a 100.000 mile warranty on it. And any warranty has the electrical and power tran on it . If they dont cover that then its breach of contract. My car I bought at Jeff wyler in springfield oh. But it has to be within whatever warranty you got on the car.

    Geez! I now have the same problem! I have an awesome 2013 LS2 112K miles, radio & climate control problem. Had mine brand new & still don’t want to give it up yet! I just had mine in shop in August & costed me $2800 be they had to pull out my windshield & dash to fix the a/c. Now this is happening. Never ever had a problem with my car ever! I will call the phone # to Chevy tomorrow. I refuse to spend another $1000 or more for this! I can’t even drive the car with that radio like that. My car gurus said the climates are working, it’s the radio. So..... not sure what they will figure out yet what to do. Ugh! Anyone here get this fixed? If so what do they have to do? All I can think of is to get another stock 2013 Camaro radio.
