Can't say the difference are 400$ better... It absolutely looks better on the new 4, wich it should, but for the high price, I will stick with the OG osmo action 😊 maybe an upgrade when price goes down.
@viellgas89 I tend to agree…watched quite a lot of video on comparing the original action with the 3 & 4 and the difference’s are just not saying go out a buy one right now…..I’ll buy a couple of extra batteries 😂 @M1RO…..great video, thank you!
This is exactly what I was wondering. I still have my OA1 and absolutely love it over my go pro. But the price difference to me is not worth it at least for what I use it for. Not too worried about battery life either as I connect an externalcbattrry bank via USB instead of switching the batteries out.
Very good comparison between Osmo Action 1 and the new version Action 4. Thanks for the video. I got the Action 1 and was very good for record behind the scenes when I do portrait photography and also for traveling. Technology improves every year and the OA 4 it’s better in everything. For me it’s time to upgrade to the new version Osmo action 4.
action 1 was built like a tank. Out run two gopros 😂. Still using it as an angle b cam for weddings and clients love it. Not much difference I'm seeing with the action 4, but still will get it for other angles. Best is that the colour matches really well with my canon cameras and the drones. Glad DJI kept the design action 3 and 4. Action 2 was not really an action cam and was too fragile. Keep up the good reviews
This is a fantastic comparison. I recently had an unfortunate death of my Osmo Action 2 (it slipped out of the magnetic cage and the screen module landed in water), and I'm trying to decide if I wanted to replace the screen module, keep rocking my older Osmo Action, or just go with the latest and greatest. Throughout most of the video, I was thinking I'm still happy with my Original Osmo...until you showed that low light test. It looks alot better. It looks like noise reduction processing is working overtime but no denying it looks better out of camera than the Original. Thank you for this great video.
Hello. Too bad about the Action 2. I was never a fan of the modular design but it's nice to see that DJI are trying different things. The low light performance is noticeable better and the bigger sensor and low megapixels really do wonders. I will make a video on this topic soon. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!
The first generation is still capable of achieving good results, especially in situations with a high risk of camera damage (extreme shots with grip on motorcycles, cars, ATVs)
Hello. The pocket 3 has a better sensor and better image quality so for vlogging it's the better choise but... It's not for action videos so it depends on how you will use it. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!
Thanks for the video. :) What about features? Does the OA4 have all the features, the OA1 has? (Like Hyperlapse, Timelapse, Loop Recording, Timers and so on and so on and so on...)?
Am pretty satisfied w/OA-1 & OA3. After much debate, & shallower savings...have decided to Pass on OA4, as have experienced no Major glitches w/either. Maybe? If DJI comes out w/OA5?!-lol
Thank you for this review. I have DJI Osmo Action 1 and satisfied with it. I am using it three or four times per years when traveling or doing some "action" shots. Would you totally recommend upgrading or will OA1 still be good for one year?
Hello. Thanks for the question. The OA1 is still good. The OA4 will give you more details and better colours but you have to work with it in an editing software and for capturing the moments it's not necessary to go that far. But... it is amazing though😉. Cheers!
I think I will also keep my Action 1. Yes, every generation becomes better but also more expensive. I wish they implement a mode for diving similar to the paralenz camera. It was awsome not to need to color grade the footage in post.
Ha you're right 😉. I always have both set to -2 because I use D-Log M and add the sharpness back in post. I think for the Normal colours the default settings are just fine - if you don't want to do any post production work. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!
I was thinking of getting the Action 4, but then discovered my original Action (which I thought I'd sold on ebay!) at the back of a drawer. One thing that's really tripped me up is accessories. More expesnive - if you can even find them - for the Action. The extension rod is essential but I seem to have mislaid mine. Cost for Action 4: £30. Cost for Action: just under £60. Ouch!
There's not much of a difference to be honest. If I use one of them without comparing either one of them is still relevant... if I want to save money, I will definitely buy the first generation which I have now and bought it used for $150 with three batteries and a changer, and two 32 micro-SD card. Not too bad with that price to be honest. If one day I broke mine I will consider the 4th generation.
Great review! Just checking did the action 4 have default settings on sharpness and noise reduction? I'm loving my new action 4 but still trying to work out the best settings on it. Many thanks!👍
Hello. I'm not sure if I understand but you can change the viewing resolution on the bottom right corner. The video is actually 4k. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!
Ok. Keep the default sharpness and denoising. Also keep in mind that the camera is really in focus from about 2m away. It's an action camera so it's set to the hyperfocal distance ==> everything from 2m away is in focus.
Can't say the difference are 400$ better... It absolutely looks better on the new 4, wich it should, but for the high price, I will stick with the OG osmo action 😊 maybe an upgrade when price goes down.

I have to agree also. I have the OSMO Action 1. Tough to justify the price to upgrade at this time, but still look forward to OSMO Action 5. 😃

A partir 😊
The exact comparison I was looking for... Thanks mate 👍🏼
Hello. You're welcome. Cheers!
Man I was in doubt to buy a insta360 go3 or dji action 4… the quality of your video sold me the action 4
Ha! Nice to hear that. I'm sure you will be satisfied with the Action 4. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!

Hello. Yes the original OA still rocks ;). Thanks for the comment. Cheers!
Thanks so much. I'm thinking about an upgrade from the original
Hello. It's worth it ;) Thanks for the comment. Cheers!
Good comparison between Osmo Action 1 and 4. I like this video very much.
Hello. Thanks a lot. Cheers!
Hello, I have action 1, I am torn between action pocket 3 and which one do you think I should buy, while I have action 1?
Hello. The pocket 3 has a better sensor and better image quality so for vlogging it's the better choise but... It's not for action videos so it depends on how you will use it. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!
Thanks for the video. :)
What about features? Does the OA4 have all the features, the OA1 has? (Like Hyperlapse, Timelapse, Loop Recording, Timers and so on and so on and so on...)?
Hello. Yes all of that is there. You even have pre-recording. They didn't take anything out. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!

Not much of a difference in daytime shots but it's a different story during night time, OS4 absolutely crushes OS1.
Hello. Yes, that's true. The bigger sensor really shows. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!
Hi Miro (I guess Miroslav🙂), what amount of sharpness and noise reduction you set on OA 4 ? I still not decided for those settings.
Ha you're right 😉.
I always have both set to -2 because I use D-Log M and add the sharpness back in post. I think for the Normal colours the default settings are just fine - if you don't want to do any post production work.

Hello. Thanks for the insight. The original Osmo Action is a good camera but it's getting old ;). Cheers!
Cab it record 1 straight without making smaller clips like the gopro?
Hello! Not really sure because I never record for so long. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!
Really good review. I have the Ozmo 1 and I think I'll wait for the 5. Knowing DJI it won't be long! lol
Hello. Thank you and yes the 5 will be here soon 😉. Cheers!
That's really useful, thanks.

Wish I have a camera like that!
Hello. It's worth saving the money for it. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!
Thanks for your comparison. If the screen can be compared side by side, it will be better
Hello. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!
No low light comparison?
Hello. It's right at the end of the video. Cheers!
Does dji osmo action 4 have any issues ?
Hello. I didn't run into any. Works smoothly and reliably. I do recommend. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!

Just got a osmo action OG with lots of accessories for €140. Cant imagine paying 500for an action cam I might lose lol.
Ha! Yes it's quite expensive. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!
The quality of your video seems to be 360p which is strange for reviewing action cameras...
Hello. I'm not sure if I understand but you can change the viewing resolution on the bottom right corner. The video is actually 4k.

Is not sharp at all. Check it out again and you'll see at times there's very poor quality footage.
Ok. Keep the default sharpness and denoising. Also keep in mind that the camera is really in focus from about 2m away. It's an action camera so it's set to the hyperfocal distance ==> everything from 2m away is in focus.
Can we use the same case? I cant find vertical case for my osmo 1 in my place
Hello. No it doesn't fit. The Action 4 is bigger. Cheers!
nice vieo can you make a real low light test at night?
