I've never tried to catch Tarpon but I have accidentally hooked into one..... Guess What.... it threw the HooK ! But for about 5 minutes it was as unique of a fish tale as can be told. They are like a Sailfish or others as they go airborne & throw their heads. That's what they are known for & that's where they ended my hookset.... threw it right there. Thanks man
Since I do not follow many Fisherman & I've never known any who fish for Tarpon, I don't know if they come in here in some migration or what? My experience has been that I started seeing Tarpon over towards Louisiana waters south in the New Orleans Mississippi Delta...... then over into Florida & up the Atlantic Coast into the Carolina's & I've fished all these waters thru my life, just not trying to catch Tarpon. The Art to catching any fish that can throw a hook is keeping the line taught & if they come up, pointing your rod DOWN fast! I get how hard that is w/ surf rods on the jetty, everything works against you. All I know to do is make sure your hooks are laser sharp and keeping the line tight but not so tight it breaks. You're a great angler so I know you know, I come here to learn from you. Thanks for reminding me of these fish & I'm not looking to follow their migration routes but if you wanted I'm sure there's a time here in Texas that they come each year? thanks for the video = exciting man! take care of those kids. peace
Keep doing you...Was that a Tarpon? If that was I know that was hell of a fight...And you would have landed it Bro!!! Platinum Achievement in the Texas murky waters...
Congratulations on the Tarpon hookup. Late in the year and cooler water. Hard to figure them out. I know you’ve done your homework but are you familiar with Capt Mike Williams’ (Tarpon Express) theories?
I lost a tarpon at Surfside jetty not to far from the start of the jetty to the beach side not channel, the water was super clear from when we had all the storms and I was using light tackle I threw a whole live finger mullet I caught with my net and amazingly the fish would jump out the water it was long and silver and a wide mouth it did about 3-4 jumps out the water and head shakes super vicious and in one of those broke me off I was super mad and did not get on that bite again this happened a few months ago!
We still rock with you BBF! We all learn together. No such thing as a master fisherman that knows everything about fishing. Great vid and catches bro
💯

Thank you for the videos and the knowledge that you share! Greatness doesn’t come without envy. Keep doing you and ignore the haters.
I appreciate that, I just wanna share my passion for fishing.

Those jumps are where everyone lose the fight. There's a science to fighting these guys. I don't think I've ever lost so many fish back to back lol.

Always amazes me how the water conditions can change so fast.
It's crazy huh! It went for horrendous 30mph winds, rain, huge waves, and 40° weather, to no wind and green water.
Solid hookups 💪and some doubles 🔥🔥

I am familiar with whatever cryptic information he publishes on fb. We are fb friends, so he will post a few interesting tips here and there.
What a workout for man and tackle. Most would be one and done!
10 toes down elite 🦍
Crazy to think Freeport used to be the tarpon capital of the world until mankind put its hand in the pot…
@bowdenhooser2200 crazy huh. A few months ago I was at surfside jetty and I kid you not, I saw hundreds of juvenile tarpon roll.
Merry Christmas. Have you ever fished the South Mansfield Jetty? It can be great fishing in the late fall!
saludos, muy buena pesca, disculpa estás pescando en aransas pass, o otro lugar, gracias
You will always find haters that's part of life you just have to stay strong

When you coming to Spi???
Elite AF 🤙🏽
For next time, in Texas, tarpons have a bag limits of 1. Minimum size is 85 inches, no max.
I know the regulations, thank you for the reminder though. I'll never keep a tarpon.
Neither would I, but I would get my lure back if I could.
lol should have put that Beowulf theme music with all those heavy waves at the begging haha
Where was this at?
Texas, its in the videos description 😂
Bow to the King...caught them to ~170lbs nearshore (boat) Bolivar, Galveston & Freeport.
We used some crazy doubled 7'-8' leaders and fly-away lead jigheads (like Coonpops) are a must.
Nobody gives reports because they’re jealous of you big bomber… fuck em your a one man fishing machine man👊🏻 tight lines brother.
Welcome to the stress brotha tight lines!
Yooo I’m basically the first not including these bots. This vid is gonna be great I know it 😊
May I know the rod n reel please?
Rod is the okuma pch 7'6 inshore. The reel is the okuma makaira 10,000

where can i go to try my hand at a silver king?
Florida
South corpus area
The easiest place I'd probably try florida. If not, then grand isle Louisiana. If you wanna try in texas, South Padre Island.
Where this jetty at
Heres my report, bull reds in galveston bay rn. Big drum too
What's so rare about a jack
@texassaltwaterlife4374 the tarpon are the rare ones, not the jack.
