I love this channel and all the little tips and tricks it has to offer. Went from Champion 2 in Rocket League to RLRS in a little under a year in Rocket League thanks to this channel. Thanks eAthlete Labs :)
Hey Naomi. As a fellow RL player who's rank last season was 17-1800 in 3s, I'd love to know your advice to improve quickly/ what helped you to where you are now
That mentality is called stoicism. You can read a bit more by reading Marcus Aurelius’ journal “Reflections” although it has some old school language since he we a Roman emperor. Developing that mentality into a strength will improve you in all areas of your life.
Bro imma be honest, what you do on this channel is fucking godsend and you are the most underrated channel ive ever see i love what you do and i watch every video with a purpose and i cant thank you enough, but thanks for this amazing channel.
I used to be the noob in fortnite who didn't get a kill to the guy who carries the team and pickaxes his enemies, this wouldn't be possible without this channel, I've been following you guys for 2 years now and you've really made me better at the game, thank you.
VOD reviewing your own gameplay can help I guess, but realistically how I climbed form high plat in Overwatch (2900) to the low end of top 500 (4134) in approx like 3 months is simply by staying dedicated. Your not going to improve if you dont put the time in simple. And I think for pretty much every game, it is better to watch a pro player play and pretty much try to mirror everything he/she does - and try to avoid paying so much attention to mechanical aim/skil, because the majority of the time it comes strictly down to game sense and game knowledge and not accepting that you yourself can be in the wrong sometimes - even if you think your the best/underrated. Also try and stay motivated (I struggled with this and pretty much auto piloted for a VERY long time)
I agree with all of this, but I would like to add to it. Staying motivated is very important, but in order to stay motivated, you need to be motivated by mastery, not external award.
I’m inclined to agree. This game maybe be an FPS, but let’s be honest it’s a moba. And success is entirely between the ears. Not only being dedicated to putting time in to practice mechanics and play a lot of matches, but remaining focused for a long period of time. Around Diamond you probably have the knowledge base to know what to do in a given situation and what ultimates are coming and what to do about them in a given situation if we think hard enough and stay mentally focused enough we can execute high level plays and synergies with teammates. But staying that focused for long periods is difficult, getting our mind in shape to grind for hours on end and think quickly and critically is beyond difficult and I think that’s what I’m struggling with. Consistently staying mentally checked in over a long play session
While I wholeheartedly agree with game sense and knowledge being extremely important. In overwatch mechanical skill isn't as important as say csgo and for CS players game sense/knowledge and strong aiming capability is what will carry you to the top.
I take the time to review my games and take notes, but I never really went too deep into my every decision. I'll definitely give it a go and see what trends and other small errors I make, or practice more of what I get right. Great vid btw!👌
Yeah really. There are so many lame tip videos out there. This video was absolutely insane. Thanks so much. I will start vod reviewing myself. Ive only done it sparingly and maybe its what I need to get better.
I went from not knowing how to play fortnite to consistently placing top 25 in pub matches in just five months, thank you so much for you amazing tips and tricks. I now always assess myself as im playing. You are the best bro
Great video keep it up, your videos have such great quality, honestly I'm not thinking about going pro or anything, I'm actually pretty casual, but I genuinely enjoy watching your videos. Great channel dude!
This was a great video, reviewing works a ton, but definitely going to put my ego aside and get an outside perspective more often. And I also tend to set goals that are long term, and that are win focused, instead of focusing on the details that make the difference between winning and losing. These videos give me a better insight on how I should practice and where to be mentally
My biggest take away is probably the mindset. I had a much more stable mindset when I first started playing LoL 2 or 3 years ago but I feel like i've let it deteriorate and my sense of ego has gotten too big. I'm going to work on repetition as well but mostly im going to see what else I can do by looking at replays again
Love this channel and totally agree with the coaches here. Here's a controversial hot take: want to get better? Get Outside! Fresh air, and exercise are an important part of a healthy lifestyle required for gaming at elite levels. If you're going to take time to to debrief the last round and talk it out, why not do it outside while you walk? Any thoughts?
2:10 i agree that in fps games with only mechanics you can reach the top 5% however in games like league the concept of mechanics is not relevant as the decision making you can reach diamond with 1/10 mechanics using ez champ and 10/10 macro and decision making. Just wanted to clarify that cause the hardstuck bronzes and silver think that mechanics is the first thing to learn which is why they think they deserve more.
You think so? No mechanics and gold at least? I'm not being like ironic, I'm asking for real. I'm pretty bad at league, so if game sense is what I should focus on instead of mechanics then I'll do that.
1:1 ratio playing/reviewing isn't bad for new/amateur players? Unlike professional players, they need mostly experience to mature mechanics and build in-game knowledge.
I understand where you're coming from, but to be honest, I'll tell this one thing from my experience- while being in the game and competing, it's quite hard to also be self-aware/observant of what could've been done better. It's way easier for me to spot mistakes, better alternatives and such when reviewing a video of myself. Just 2 days ago I was playing lots of games of Valorant. I did my best, tried to focus, play smartly and so on, but when I watched my VOD, I felt like I was watching a complete noob. Reviewing myself is like taking all of the resources from performing to a higher level of understanding and knowing what should've been done and seeing it from 3rd person perspective.
Hey, I noticed you said (15:10) that 'along with reviewing, you would need to seek external advice from high level players and coaches', but, does this correlate to watching coaches on youtube reviewing games of others and not your gameplay of some other top tier player (and not 1:1)?
To everyone who actively follows the advice given from this channel, how long does it take until improvements are noticeable? What type of habits are being made? Cause I just recently found this channel and I really want to get better at the games I play

I do write down notes ect but don’t feel like I’m improving than I feel stress and annoyed like I do all this for what just to get shit on and shit on and shit on and I hate when I do good one day than bad next day it’s confusing af
my tip for everyone who doesn't want to play rank cause hes scared: Make a routine, its easy just serch a random work schedule webside and make your own schedule on which you know you can do. I got so much better so fast after doing this :)
My biggest problem is not having a reason for a play/ not being aware of the reason I make the play (in case it's subconscious). And therefore I can't modify my future plays as I can't review based of my reasoning, (I made this play because of X, but I should of made this because of Y) can't be done. When I play chess however, I think like I should be in game (although too slow for FPS games). And have improved incredibly fast compared to action games, for the reason above. Not sure how to fix this problem... Any ideas?

Is it just me or does the format of the video make it look like a scam video
Great video, but please cut the fluff, I can’t be the only one bored out of my mind watching a 17 minute video with 10 or less minutes of content
Coaches are dumb just ask people and sources you trust and analyze stuff yourself and practice a lot. Lone wolf works just fine, all depends what kind of person you are. If you wanna get into official competitions then look up the regulations there.
