    The trailer is coming along. Another great video. Glad to see your back...👍👍

    I live the videos man. I drive semi trucks for a living and all I can think about is how long the back of the truck is going to last with all the weight being transferred to the truck because of how far back those trailer axles are if the trailer is always going to be pretty much at max capacity. But you are correct about easier to control and back up. I hope it works out well I started a little while ago at the first video and I'm just sitting today so I'll watch all the way through the whole build. Great work man. 🤙

    Yay new video been a long while. Just what ever your giving away give it to me it will make drawing names easy for you lol. It's always better to have longer tounge on a trailer I hate when they are short. the axles still are probably to far back tho. main part is how it gets loaded . Had a 21 foot equipment trailer at my old work and the axles were far back it worked great just placement of things was a big thing .

    you think that tab on the rear of the hoist is there to sit on top of a crossmember when it is in the rest position? ice to see you a back at it. i understand that life gets in the way sometimes. nice job on the jack mounting....that is always seems to be a problem on some trailers. i suppose those hinges may have been meant to be cut in but i think a couple 45* gussets under it will achieve the same results. see you on the next one jesse.

    • @j_moffitt
      @j_moffitt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s possible that’s what the tab was for but the top is what pivots first so it may gouge when lifting the first few inches but good idea👍🏼 thanks for the input Mr. J. C.

    • @loganpark7993
      @loganpark7993 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is definitely what the tab was for. The rear will need a support of some kind. You will for sure build something nice.

  • @gettinbentfabrication9073
    @gettinbentfabrication9073 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Make a plate to go one the out side of the hing to over lap it to the trailer with a gussets on the bottom and use each peace of angle in the inside of the hing you will be fine with them I hope that makes sense

  • @chrislangdell117
    @chrislangdell117 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I can see where the complaints about axle position and tongue length may come in. With to much Tongue weight the trailer will tow differently. Heavy weights may also excessive sway while towing. All depends on how you Tow with it I guess and what you use it for.

  • @pepperjones389
    @pepperjones389 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    It looks great man. I didn’t mean to say I thought the tongue wasn’t right. Just meant to say from the video perspective it looked really long. Either way. Love the content. Jealous of your skills. Happy January.

    Tires are fine wish mine was back that far if you are planning on putting a slab there go with mat of rebar every 2 foot with at least 6 inches of Rock

    • @j_moffitt
      @j_moffitt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      For sure, slab won’t happen right away but i want a 2 post lift so I’ll make sure it’s beefed up

    Saw some down hill welding on behind that back tire.? You should know down hill welding doesn't produce very much penetration. Looks good though brother just some helpful tips. Maybe try stick welding the vertical joints for more penetration.

    The lip on the rear of the hoist mechanism is so it can rest on a cross member and not just free float all the time

    I was thinking the axles were too far back myself but I didn't say anything because it ain't mine. If it does turnout to be too far back and a loaded trailer squats the truck too much then we'll have another video to watch. Either way I just watch and let you do what you're going to do.

    I believe your lift needs to be closer to the front and ASAP u put weight in it will hit axle, and closer to front better leverage, I’m being constructive.
    Hope it works.
    Really curious why u r using channel for dump, guessing as u stated purpose built so it will work for ur needs,
    Love these builds! Never anything but thoughts as well for best product!!!

      The axle will hit the frame before it makes contact with the lift cylinder, axle to frame is only about 3” and that’s the clearance the cylinder has in the middle

    I strongly believe it's cheaper to just purchase the dump trailer. The hoist by itself costs approximately $1600.

    • @jackclark1994
      @jackclark1994 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you're buying a trailer, it's gonna be about the same no matter who you go with. If you're building it yourself, it's always cheaper because you cut out the labor.
