As a 2005 baby I think the cut off is 2006. I still remember playing outside and not having a phone and I went thru that awkward/ugly phase. I fear the children in middle school rn who look 18 and never went thru that phase 💀
literally agree like ima 2008 baby and the new freshman's and younger look so old. I went thru the awkward/emo phase and these kids coded skipped it
Same I'm also an '05 baby and we would play outside with all the neighborhood kids my brother and I have so many scars on our knees from falling outside on our bikes and shi I can also relate to that weird awkward phase in middle school 😅

As an 08.. I aint gonna lie, I can tell from just my school that majority of the kids are actually hopeless. There's like 30% of people's whose brains aren't rotted. I also realized that most of the kids who Do have hope for the future, have an older sibling born 2000-2003. My brother was born in 2001 and when him and I were younger I don't have a clue when we actually stayed inside. The summers were always us at the park, or outside playing on the driveway. When my brother got into high school, 8 years ago, I went to summer camp every year (until covid hit). Now that I'm in high school, I BARELY ever see kids outside. The streets are so quiet and kids from 2010 and on have no lives; they act so "mature" for their ages. They act like they're 18 and can do wtv they want like swear, and wear the "least" amount of clothes.
Im an 08 as well and this is soooo true. I mean you can see kids all driving to places to hang out but no one is ever outside anymore and they act like they're grown in a sense. When we were little everyone was outside and playing together and if you werent you were either shielded, weird, or in trouble.
God damn this episode was soooo nostalgic 😂
I'll be honest, I used to pretend that my backpack was a monster and I was taming it by feeding it my books...but that stopped before highschool.

I think the kids from 2000-2006 got to play outside I would play and be out until my parents would come out and look for me. And I am scared my kids will not experience going outside and running around with the other kids in the neighborhood.
LOL Cynthia you are not alone! It was always field trips for me too. I'm pretty sure it's anxiety it happens to me even now that I've grown up.

As someone born in 2008, I genuinely try to be better than my peers when it comes to technology addiction and the iPad kid generation. I voluntarily took a week-long break from my phone and noticed a significant improvement in my attention span and attitude. I think the main problem with this generation is the desensitization surrounding the internet and the lines getting blurred between real and fake in the media.
as a 2007 baby i think the cut off is around like 2005, but younger with that with older siblings/ cousins makes a huge difference since we follow in the older siblings/cousins footsteps and wanna be jst like them as a kid

I think having siblings have a some type of toll on how the generations now and later act because personally as a 2010 baby I feel like my siblings from other generations keep me in line and they dont let me do weird shit. 😭 I’ve also been told that im mature for my age and as a baby I also remember playing outside, with my siblings and other childhood friends but I also had a phone since 4th grade… but I was still outside!

i really relate to sean when he said “whenever someone else was sick i was like i don’t wanna be here i used to get scared when others threw up” i have emetophobia so it’s really really bad when others do it. it’s nice to hear someone talk abt it tho! i feel like everyone just doesn’t pay attention to how bad it can really get. it’s nice to see i relate to someone or at least at some point idk if he’s still afraid. i’m afraid as helllll like i’ll literally have a panic attack if it’s just mentioned that someone’s stomach hurts 😭

Whatever anyone says in the comments, Generation alpha ends 2009/10. For context, I am a 2004 baby, I used to baby sit a lot of Generation Alpha kids and they are WEIRD even before they touched social media. Last year I used to tutor at my old middle school and I've never been more shocked on how those kids acted, especially on the academic level. Out of the six group of kids I've tutored, two classes in each grade, only one class weren't behind and loved reading. To be fair though, we can only blame the parents for how that generation came out. I am thankful my family didn't let me touch technology until high school.
edit: My little brother is graduating high school this spring, I swear, the class of '24 (in my district) might be the last group of normal attitude, great education level, outside having kids.
