    The torx bolts with the nipple are called a security tip. Available in a big bundle at harbor freight for a few dollars.

      +CT moog yeah I couldn't believe I didn't check the bolt earlier probably would have saved a lot of time. I'm just happy it runs again and I don't have to get rid of it

    I love your attitude, it worked,,and that's what count,but I know sometimes,, when stuff is 15+yo, things break,,,always try to eliminate steps,,,I only took out .5 quart or so,,,I am eager to see my results,,,thanks again for getting me off couch, min riding mower nowadays is $1k

    I still do fully comprehend the importance of the bellows. Even if I do a 50% oil exchange, there SB a significant improvement. I would rather do a bang bang exchange once a year than deal with 15yo bolts and pulling the axle. I will let you know how it goes.

      @@jeffreyhaarsager3287 I have a 42572x8a. 20HP 46series opposed (ancient engine, bought at HD in 2001). The Engine just blew. May replace it with a new 20 or 22hp OHV twin for $500 or so. A few years ago a bolt got loose in the trans and locked it up. I opened it and fixed that. A new twin engine tractor is 3 grand with tax at a big box now. May be worth to fix.

  • @Mr_Tecumseh
    @Mr_Tecumseh 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just ripped that exact tractor apart. Good engine, good Trans, good rims and tires, good deck. The tractor itelf was a big hunk of junk, hood was shot etc.
    But the parts are all good selling them now. Anyone need a good trans or 17 hp v twin, let me know.

    I know this is an old vid and all, but 47167 is just the zip code for Salem, Indiana! It is not the model number.

      That I am not sure of, but for some reason those who make most of these things love to post the city, state and zip code on their transaxles? Enjoyed your video though, thanks Buddy!

      +Paulie Detmurds yes it's my main one for grass cutting I only use my older stuff for gardening, snow moving etc not grass. The older tractors don't have the same cut quality

    I have the same Murray mower, exactly like yours. I have not got it running just yet. Could you tell me the mower model number ? The one on my mower is missing. It is located on the back or under the seat. Every time I go to get parts for it they ask, "what's your model number. " I tell them all I have is a faded out white sticker. When you raise the seat up there is a small lever. Is that what you move to release the transmission so it will roll ? It did not seem to matter which way, to left in the hook or to the right. When I pushed it over to the right it was hard but it would roll forward. But not reverse. So I took the belt off and put a socket attached to a drill. Put it on top of the pulley to the transmission. Held down the pedal to go forward. Then I spun it around it inched forward. The drill is a good bit slower than the engine but at least it moved. But it would Not go into reverse. I have not taken the transmission out yet. So I may just be over looking the model number. But i did find a sticker Peerless 2000-002A 10520096 .

    I have the same issue, do you have to poke a hole in the tape?I think its for vacuum to hold the bellows in place.

      No just remove it once it’s filled with oil and screwed down

      Thank you for the reply. I have a different trans, its a peerless tuff torque but from 97, 98. Way different setup like the fwd and rev and trying to find that 4 hole cover, I had it out and changed the oil to no avail. Its in a 2514H Massey Ferguson, know anything about these?

    nice job but a couple things: A. why not just vacuum the old oil out from the rubber plug???? B.brake cleaner around the plugs to break up the old oil/grease

    • @DKTractors
      @DKTractors  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Kevin Reilly A: If you vacuum/siphon out the old oil ok but the bellows still needs to be compressed
      B: good idea
