I definitely think that model 31 Briggs will serve you well. I really have nothing bad to say about them. Probably my favorite single, aside from the Honda GX's.
That’s awesome that he helped you out!! I happy to see that it’s on four wheels agains!! I can’t wait to see the engine rebuild vid!! I missed your vids Todd!!
That is actually a great idea Todd. I picked up a 2002 Murray Widebody GT 21hp/46" yesterday. It has a 5 speed Peerless 820. My plan is to put that in the 88 Jacobsen Homelite LT10. I appreciate the idea. Take care.
I'm running that same 15 hp in one of my tractors with your same carb. The carb actually cleaned up how the engine ran, same as when you upgraded your old engine. Better power all across the band, better throttle response. It's a great engine, has lots of power, and its been more reliable since the carb swap
Fearless! When you designed your clutch you made the belt tension higher then it needed to be. Excessive belt tention can damage imput bearjngs over time. Made lower it slightly and your imput bearings will last alittle longer. Nice idea with the grease fitting. Keep it up man!
Someone's happy about there new shop. Great informational video. I may try the grease fitting on my 820. Stoked about the engine build. Let's get this show on the road bud.
Question what part of maine do u live in if u don’t want to say thats fine i live in oxford and i do the same stuff you do I’m thirteen and cant do that much of stuff but i still enjoy riding my tractors
Hey Todd. Love the vids and after reading some of the other comments you've been on a bit of a haiatus, hope all is well. I've looked through and can't find a 4wd conversion. I'm in the process of a design for my Craftsman for daily work at the barn (need tools before toys). I dropped a "tweeked" Kohler 25 into it and it truly is a beast and I also have a Peerless hydro available to match the one in the rear however, I'd prefer a "start to finish" plan of attack as "Crafty" will be out of service during this process and "Homy don't push no barrow 'round no-mo" (150lbs of Draft horse shit does a number on the lower back). I know there's a viable option and wouldn't mind spending a reasonable amount for the components because it is a tool and not a toy, those will come in time. If you could shed any light on this or refer me to any others in the group I would certainly appreciate that. Thanks in advance . . . John
In your opinion, will a 930 peerless hold about the sme amount of oil? BTW, I am going to convert it from grease to oil. Is that really necessary though? Thoughts?
Mine cracked on the case where it bolts onto the mower on one side. I acquired a bottom case and I’m going to swap it and just jb weld the top case crack to hold the grease in and hope the bottom part holds the whole thing together 😬
Hay todd this may sound stupid but here it gos when you have one of your custom belt tensioner with spring and swing arm how do you get slack in the belt when you push in clutch mine needs to stop spinning at the crank pulley so when clutch is pressed belt stops and has slack at the crank ???
IMO, if the input shaft pops again, you should take that cover to a local shop, have it lobbed off and mount with screws in the case a new sleeve bearing and jazz. If you make the section on top wide enough, it shouldn't have any issues with breaking the alu top. Spreading the load and all that.
That's actually not a bad idea, I'd really love to find an 820 to swap it out with... they're just tough to find in my area. That would be an interesting solution though
I locked my Murray 205 527D. It moved freely prior to reinstalling. I know you said in the video it may be tight at first. But it is so tight the engine Boggs down. What could be the problem.
Hey i have a question about using transaxle in go carts.. Looking to run a transaxle to a live axle. Inwant to run a chain from one side on transaxle to a live axle.. I know if i leave one axle dangling it will spin instead of one with sprocket attached.. So what would happen if i welded the dead axle side of transaxle to my kart frame so it dont spin? I know the side with the sprocket will spin. But im worries making my transaxle a constant " one wheel peel" to drive my live axle my ruin it? May randomly engage on wrong spider gear or cause excessiv3 h3at because it aint moving with reat of axle??? Should i just be safe and lock it if i want to run one side of axle? Hooking a sprocket on both sides of transaxle to live axle just seems dumb
Hey fearless front, question? I see alot of people questioning a pully swap on a hydrostatic diff. From my research its the pump that cant handle the pressure from the rpm increase that causes it to blow apart is my assumption. Whats your idea/knowledge about the cons with pully swapping hydros, is it possible? Cause the pressure difference would be my assumption to failure.
Hey Todd, I just pulley swapped and locked my Spicer 6 speed per your video. Locker is working nicely but now this rear end screams as I’m driving. Is this normal? I’m also leaking gear oil pretty badly out of one of the axle seals. Guess I’m gonna tear back into it this weekend and also replace gasket material around the entire case. Any suggestions?
It's totally ok to spin it by hand without oil. You're not generating any kind of heat. Now, if you forget to put oil in in use, well, that's a different problem.
I don’t know if you will reply but I have watched most of the craftsmen crawler videos and the the 2013 update video and it was next to your garage door and then 2014 update it wasn’t there what happend ?
That is DEFINITELY worth doing. It's amazing how cheap the manufacturer is, letting the axles bear directly on the case like that. Out of all the Peerless transaxles I've torn down, I've only ever actually seen axle bearings installed from the factory on 800 series and 820's. never on 900/MST.
where ya been, bro? feels great to finally see a video from you (i'm an old subscriber, but renamed my channel recently, with the intention to do similar stuff like what's on your channel)
I'm planning on running a peerless 700. Was wondering if the reverse chain would live at speeds below 25 mph. Ive learned alot from you and Doc Sprocket. Thanks guys.
I have a 11/36 1996 Murrey lawnmower that I just got its been sitting for at least 10 years and after fixing the wiring is refusing to move I have it down to the transmission so thank you your trans looks similar to mine so hopefully I get get it out and look at it. Also anyone feel free to message me if you know anything about these types of problems
Hey welcome back. Ready to see the master back on the trails. I have a question before I dive in to a situation. I have a 20 hp briggs v twin id like to atv carbrate. What size carburator would you suggest. Good luck with the muarry. Its because of you I even mud mower. Ty
I'm not exactly sure, but if it was me I would probably try to run a dual carburetor setup. I know I've seen it done before, maybe check some racing mower websites for more information.
Adding a zert is smart and a hose to outside of frame would be great ideal, they AllWAYS rust the brging and can freeze the shaft Thanks I’m doing this on next one I fix
Hey can anyone help me, so i was trying to do a pulley swap on a mst-206 and i was banging the shaft pretty hard and once i managed to get the stock pulley halfway off, I pulled up on it and the pulley came off with the input shaft still in it, how do i fix this?
Hi Todd. I was wonder if you could help me with some problems im having with my tractor! If you could or it’s possible i would like to have a conversation about my problems and see if you could help me out. Much appreciated!!
Glad to see you back, im looking forward to a sears video!
Good luck, he might update us in three months.
Wow lol somebody butthert
Delaine Maiers people have lives you know.....
So glad you're back!!! Thanks for taking the time to make this video!
I'm so glad that you are still alive! I started getting very worried
I definitely think that model 31 Briggs will serve you well. I really have nothing bad to say about them. Probably my favorite single, aside from the Honda GX's.
Soooo glad to see progress on the Murray!
Can’t wait to see it up and running again better than ever!

That aircraft grade permatex form a gasket is good stuff. Started using it on vintage outboard engine lower units. Been using it for years.

Gear oil? How much do you put in the case. I thought these took "00" grease?
The MST series takes gear oil, 14 oz
In your opinion, will a 930 peerless hold about the sme amount of oil? BTW, I am going to convert it from grease to oil. Is that really necessary though? Thoughts?
@@daw7189 grease cant handle the revs
thanks for the video, it gives me hope.....you can minimize shavings by dipping the bit in heavy grease.
Are you doing cony roaders this year
Mine cracked on the case where it bolts onto the mower on one side. I acquired a bottom case and I’m going to swap it and just jb weld the top case crack to hold the grease in and hope the bottom part holds the whole thing together 😬
I have the same gearbox on my riding mower Motec Mt B200 and I wonder how much oil should go in the gearbox. It was completely empty
I definitely want to see a video of you building the engine for the Murray !!

Sweet! Welcome back!
ive done that to some stock transmissions /deck spindles it works good, to keep the grease fitting possibly falling out, i put a dab of locktite on it
I've seen people put little tube extensions and then put the grease nipple on the end of the extension giving it more accessibility.

Awesome. Looking forward to more videos.
At least this wasn’t the 5 month gap... looking forwards to an engine build video.
You need bearings On the axle shaft!!! I bought some the other day and they worked great no more riding in the top half wearing them out

Which silicon sealer do you use when putting it back together?
How much oil does the transaxle take?

What is a trans brand with a nut holding pulley ??? Yard machine riding mower
SWEET! Can't wait
I love your videos so much that it's respired me to do the same thing
is there a drain plug on that transaxle?
Yayyyy cant wait till next video
Any updates on the Murray?
What size wheel shafts are on the original spicer

Ive got mst mods on my channel.
Add a grease fitting for the input shaft bearings, they dont get much splash lube.

Hey I broke the rear pulley on my 1972 sears ss14 how do I get it off?
Do you sill have the craftsman crawler
Yo fearless I’m actually looking to get a locker any chances to find one or make my own ?? I’m clueless
Welcome back haha
anyone else tried the grease fitting thing and how often do u grease it
Are you going to start uploading more frequently??
I'm surprised you didn't do the internal bearing upgrade on each axle.

Do a predator vtwin swap. They make aftermarket parts and it would be insane on a tractor
Do you still think about doing the peerless 820 conversion?
