After owning a 99' GSR for 3 years and many others. MY BEST ADVICE.. #1 Use window sealant between the body and the rear taillight seals to keep water out of trunk. (9/10 Integras have this problem) #2 Replace Cam seal with a properly made aluminum cam seal with o-rings (Skunk 2, BWR ETC) #3 Remove factory rear wheel well seals from wheel well edge, clean away any rust and seal back up with paint. #4 Replace any worn motor mounts (Total of 5) worn motor mounts (especially the lower mount on the driver side) will cause hard shifting problems most commonly, but the car hates having a worn driver side lower mount more than anything, so replace it! P. S also check that shift linkage hardware and bushings are tight and bushings in good shape. #5 Replace ignition key lock if ignition becomes hard to use or if keys fall out. The ignition will eventually get bad enough that a simple bump in the road will shut car off. Extra advice: Always keep engine oil level checked. Have timing belt checked often. Buy a fully aluminum radiator or get an oem one with lifetime warranty (the top cracks alot) Check CV axles rubber boots often and replace if cracked. Replace exhaust piping if heavy rust is found. (it'll suddenly break completely off one day and it's not fun when it does) Basically.. Give it good oil and keep the level up (B18's) like their oil. Change really old and worn fluids (transmission, coolant etc) Basic maintenance and keeping an eye on the problem areas will allow these cars to run forever. Good luck guys.
In my case, not enough parts. Took a week to find a radiator for my 92 Integra, and good luck trying to find a starter motor, I just have to keep rebuilding mine. The joys of owning a somewhat /rare/ car in my state of Queensland, Australia. I've only ever seen 2 other 92 Integras since owning my own one.
5 Common Problems for the 94-01 Integra: 1: Rattling windows when they are partway down. 2: Leaking taillight gaskets. 3: Broken power antennas. 4: Bad/leaking cam seal. 5: Leaking oil pan gasket.
That rattling windows drives me nuts!! Other than that I've only had the leaking taillight gasket issue... and now that it's almost 23 years old an issue with the sunroof drain hose on the PS
Door handles breaking is one of the most common issues I've noticed with integra's. I daily drove a gsr for 10 years. Over 300k. Other then routine stuff, never had a problem. And I ran it hard, would race any time I could. Awesome cars. About to start a h22 swapped da9 project.
I have a detachable steering wheel for that reason. Even if im in a nice neighborhood i always take it with me they are just so easy to steal sadly. Im sorry about your teggy i hope you get her back or find a new one.
Maybe think about adding a kill switch, I still don’t have a car but I’m planning on getting a 2000 acura integra soon and I’m planning on adding a kill switch so I don’t get it stolen.
I used to work on these vehicles 20 years ago. Try to get in habit of shifting into 2nd gear before shifting to reverse while depressing clutch. Hope this helps.
Also don't get an automatic transmission for the integra. It doesn't always downshift at passing speed it can be a bit gutless. Sometimes I would have to downshift to make it really go especially getting on the freeway.
Adam R only owning the car a few months now and that was one of the first things I’ve noticed. Helps if you floor it when passing someone as that forces the transmission to downshift (as stated in the manual) but sometimes I’ll just kick it down to D3 or 2nd gear depending on my speed to ensure it does actually shift
the shifter “issue” is just a safety lockout. my ls does the same for reverse but you just put the car in first then go back to reverse. i’ve never seen ANY of the other issues you’ve had. the main issues integras have is normally the rear motor mount kills itself from banging gears and the 98-01 trunk releases almost ALL broke. other than that they are very well working cars that actually had no real recalls or anything.
OMGTeggy lmao i noticed that after the comment, after dealing with hondas for the past 5 years i really understood how much nicer the integra compares to the civics so these problems are really minuscule
Cheers for telling me the trick to the reverse gear problem. I'll start trying that now, usually I shift between first and trying to get into reverse a few times until it works but the clutch pumping seems a bit easier.
Most* stick shifts do that with reverse gear, and my teggy is alright with reverse lol, and u can also try shifting into 3rd and to 4th then try reverse. Usually helps me
There's a zigzag circular bushing in the shifter ball seat. It breaks up after many years of hard shifting. Messes with the alignment of the linkage. Dealer part.
Because u have to put it in the gear. U need to hear it. Its a transmission safety lock. Put it in reverse going 10mph forward see what happens. You cant!
About you "common problem" #1, those little puddles where you pointed to under the door after it rains, are normal. Lay down on the ground and look at the underside of your door, there are little rectangular shaped holes under there, those are drain holes for water. Some water is expected to get inside the door, the holes are there to let it drain out. Make sure they stay unclogged. Problem #2: I get that occasionally, but more often trying to put the car in 1st than in R. All I've had to do is put the shifter in neutral, press and release the clutch one time, then push it down again and shift, and that fixes it. #3: Failing radiators is a common problem I've heard about other people having, but my original radiator lasted 19 years/206K miles. And I only had to replace mine because the upper hose outlet cracked, probably from me tightening the hose clamp too much. And it is normal for the radiator to move a bit and have some play. #4: The distributor cap and rotor are expected to be replaced eventually, it a regular scheduled maintenance item. It's not a common problem that they eventually wear out, it's normal. #5: Interior squeaks are a common problem, particularly the hatch.
I've pretty much had almost all those problems except for the squeaking, leaking, and distributor issues. My radiator, I'm kinda wanting to put it in the area of I just pushed my little tegi a little too much that night but it started leaking coolant, and replacing the radiator sometimes it makes the hose rupture so they really should've at least gotten the hoses just in case because of how dangerous that job can be for the parts. I work at a mechanic shop and I watch the main mechanic do a lot of the jobs and since I didn't know how to work on my car, he showed me how to replace the radiator and as I stated, and my hoses were almost brand new, the hoses ruptured so it was a good thing i bought the extra hoses for my car. My distributor went bad because my dad gave it to me with the whole engine leaking oil almost and oil had gotten inside it so that's not a big issue. the reverse though, I ALWAYS have issues with that. I'll be in traffic trying to get room or make room for someone else and it just refuses to go in even with the clutch pumping trick. My boyfriend keeps telling me it's my clutch, you need to push it in more, it's because of the temporary pedals i put on the pedals that I can't push the clutch down fare enough but I've never had an issue shifting aside from when I need to go into reverse and yeah. the leaking I might have an issue with later on. Added info, my integra is at 166,872 miles. It's my daily and beater right now but I still try to take care of him. My first manual car and first car in general. Really good and reliable car, just my boyfriend hates the fact that I got it when he could've bought me a type-R for the same price but eh. I wanted my dad's RS. Can't so no to a car in need XD
Your squeak sounds like it is the rear hatch hinges. White lithium grease is recommended but don't get it on the rubber or the upper trunk seal will fail. When the doors leak it is because the door moisture barrier has failed, and trunk leaks are most often the tail light seal. Good luck with your ride.
Hey do you live in the IE? South Cali? The surroundings, housing styles look familiar. Got mine stolen broad daylight off the driveway. I had just gotten home went in the house for maybe 4-5 min came out... GONE. Recovered 12 days later. Anyway just wondering. I can totally relate to the 1st and reverse shifting all the little squeaks and the radiator (replaced mine under recall), oh and my radiator hose blew as well. On my way to the River (Lake Havasu) on a 120° day! Keep up the informative videos! Take care!👍
1st does have a syncro but never force it in gear theres no reason to downshift into 1st but youll ruin that syncro if you do for reverse you dont need to pump it just let the clutch out in neutral enough for the counter shaft to spin so the reverse gear teeth are somewhat lined up or just go from 5th to reverse with the clutch in
My father is an Acura mechanic and says that you actually need to shift correctly through all the gears in order, which includes going all the way down to first gear before going into reverse. That might help you're having problems going into reverse issue.
Alex Devora Mine does too. But that is mainly because of the drilled holes "if you have a spoiler" Make sure the holes are sealed. Use whatever like balloons to seal it up! Lol
Little late but in all manual Hondas, or almost all manuals if you shift it into 2nd gear first, then hit reverse and it slows down the countershaft and makes it easier to get into any gear, drive a 43 mb military jeep, no syncros in any gear it double clutch and go but put in clutch 2nd then hit reverse, much easier
Cool video, I have a 95 Integra LS, #1: Not a problem on my car, #2: My car does the same thing #3: It's got 160k miles on original radiator #4: Had to change mine when it had 142k #5: Yes many squeaks especially on gravel roads
its called double clutching..you had to do that in all the old cars..tbh I just naturally do it everytime I shift a gear even with a synchronized transmission
hey, when it won't go into reverse, don't pump the clutch, just put it in first then back to reverse and it will go right into reverse without trouble. If you have trouble going into first and reverse and have to pump your clutch, you have air in the system or you have a faulty master or slave cylinder.
instead of pumping the clutch for #2 putting it in 1st maybe moving a few inches then clutching to reverse always works for my 94 stock ls teggy at almost 200.000 miles, and plz tell me where u found a 40$ distrib cuz i paid way too much....
Seems like common issues with a near 20 something year old car. And they can all be taken care of. But definitely, money is the thing that's needed. I'm planning on getting either an Integra or the RSX. Gonna subscribe and check out your uploads and future ones bro.
Yeah that squeaking def. bugged me at first but then i saw a lot of other integras had the same problem. I believe its just this gen teggy though because my previous integra didn't have that problem. Nice Video BTW.
I actually did it my self for about $400 the shops are a ripoff they where going to charge me 2500 for my car at that point may as well get a paint job lol try your self it’s really not as hard as people say it is. The bumpers are probably the hardest
I have a ‘98 RS >170 Kilometers on it. Cam seal, rattling windows, leaking tail light seals, bent antenna. Yup. The colour is B90-P (Supersonic Blue Pearl) Decent vehicle for it’s vintage. All vehicles have their faults do they not?
i had a 94 RS/GSR swap......and i notice that my teggy and other i have been in......the temp guage never reaches the mid point......its always just before it or colder....
other hondas ive had were allways at the mid point..... only fluctuate when its cool weather.....civc...accord...crv.....teggy is the only Honda where it never reaches the mid point...thus burning more fuel....i stopped putin 93 octane cause teggy are gas guzzlers
Like the suspension hops? Definitely sounds like blown struts but check all your bushings on your suspension make sure none are blown. Definitely sounds like the struts tho
not sure if anyone has gotten to it but if your reverse is still like that check your transmssion fluid. both level and viscosity. thats a common sign that the trans needs to be flushed and refilled
2nd then Reverse is a typical Honda thing. I've had to do that with every single Honda Ive had. Other cars like Nissans and toyos do that too. and for first gear, it isnt necessary to put it in first until you're at a stop. Drives me nuts when ppl do that.
my 96 integra is making a clicking noise in the front wheels area it only does it when I make hard left or right turns while pressing on the gas pedal. I don't know what it is.
That noise is your outer CV joints... Its very common that the CV joint boots tear from old age. The grease that lubricates the joint will sling out from centrifugal force. Now the joint(s) are working without any lubrication and eventually you'll hear the notorious "clicking" noise under a load while making a turn.
If you catch it soon enough, you can replace just the boot and add the proper grease. Although that may be a cheaper route, a re-manufactured axle is an easier solution and is still affordable.
For first gear u have to Rev the car up. U have to Rev match for first and reverse. I own a 94 Integra rs, works every time for me. If you don't Rev match that's when it grinds.
What exactly are you rev matching? You aren't moving at any speed when you put it in reverse (I hope). Are you turning your engine off before putting it in reverse? Because the only way to match 0 mph is to have your engine at 0 rpms...
jonathan mravic I guess Rev matching was the wrong words for reverse. I meant I Rev it up while sitting still and it goes right into reverse without any issues. For first I do the same thing if it doesn't go in. But u can Rev matche first while moving idk works for me just thought I was being helpful haha
lol if you were being helpful, you could have just said, "i just blip the gas real quick and then it goes in reverse no prob" or actually given the right technique, "push in the clutch then put it in third and then reverse."
My 91 Acura Integra 2 door standard shift want start by switch so I replaced it still want start by switch but will crank if jumped from the starter or rolled off but will run about 10 minutes and will die and not crank again for about 3 hours later can you help me
I have a problem with my 1997 ls auto teggy my car will crank up but when I go to drive it won’t move and it will cut off some times if anyone sees this will yall give me your thoughts
I got a 96 ls transmission with 246k miles on it after my b16 trans blew up and miraculously the ls transmission goes into reverse as easy as it goes into first I guess I just got really lucky
OMGTeggy i started not knowing anything about it..but i dont mind getting my hands dirty...i worked at autozone but never really got down and dirty...and mechanic shop chatge you like 40 bucks....and the reverse problem you dont need to pump the clutch you just keep puting it in all the gears and the synchros shift arround so that the reverse goes in...i engine swapped my teggy and changed the trans b16a2 with a gsr trans with a tune
YES!!!!! Make sure it’s in the back though it could also be the front aswell but all you have to do is replace to the two rear control arms and bushings!
had my radiator take a dump on me to when I had first bought my 2000 Teg 3 years ago lol. but if I may add an issue that is probably the most common it would be latch failure to the rear hatch for the 3 door tegs lol I hate having to use my key to open my trunk every single time 😂😂
After owning a 99' GSR for 3 years and many others.
MY BEST ADVICE..
#1 Use window sealant between the body and the rear taillight seals to keep water out of trunk. (9/10 Integras have this problem)
#2 Replace Cam seal with a properly made aluminum cam seal with o-rings (Skunk 2, BWR ETC)
#3 Remove factory rear wheel well seals from wheel well edge, clean away any rust and seal back up with paint.
Buy a fully aluminum radiator or get an oem one with lifetime warranty (the top cracks alot)
Check CV axles rubber boots often and replace if cracked.
Replace exhaust piping if heavy rust is found. (it'll suddenly break completely off one day and it's not fun when it does)

Dick Steel thanks man for the info I will get to work
Commenting for later. I know it’s been a year but thanks 😁
Any idea why mi integra 99 ls makes a wear noise when I go from first gear to 2nd gear?
Thanks

You're supposed to put it in a forward gear before you put it in reverse. Example *clutch in* *shift to 3rd* *shift to reverse* *clutch out*.
the radiator and distributor isnt a problem they just need replacing after a while it's coming with tons of cars

Hey any ideas on where to buy rocker panels ? Been having trouble finding them for my 97
+NUMPA6 I actually have no idea man I know there's tons of after market skirts
Just had similar distributor problems
instead of pumping the clutch for #2 putting it in 1st maybe moving a few inches then clutching to reverse always works for my 94 stock ls teggy at almost 200.000 miles, and plz tell me where u found a 40$ distrib cuz i paid way too much....
Seems like common issues with a near 20 something year old car. And they can all be taken care of. But definitely, money is the thing that's needed. I'm planning on getting either an Integra or the RSX. Gonna subscribe and check out your uploads and future ones bro.
Thank you bro! I think a lot of people prefer the integra over the rsx but everyone likes the engine in the rsx. It’s up to you both badass cars
The one thing I like about the RSX though, is that K20 engine. But the B18 is also an excellent engine as well.
My 99 gsr has 140xxx and never once the radiator broke down, should I have it replace?
My #1 most hate about integra is that they never pass smog
if you do replace it, be sure to get one of oem or better quality.
My 1995 Integra's radiator lasted 19 years and 206K miles, and it only broke because of something dumb I did, not the radiator's fault.
Yeah that squeaking def. bugged me at first but then i saw a lot of other integras had the same problem. I believe its just this gen teggy though because my previous integra didn't have that problem. Nice Video BTW.
+TheTacoNinja809 yeah it is pretty annoying. Thanks bro!
Gotta lubes parts up constantly
I have the squeaking noice to not sure but it sounds like the rear
Is that a voltage blue teg? I have one but mine looks a bit lighter blue
Nevermind lol just realized you had it painted blue
Lol it’s vinyl wrapped it’s pretty close to the voltage blue though
OMGTeggy nice how much was it to get it wrapped im thinking about wrapping my 91 b13 se-r the paint is fugly
Yup.
The colour is B90-P (Supersonic Blue Pearl)
Decent vehicle for it’s vintage.
All vehicles have their faults do they not?
My suspension makes the exact same noise, any ideas on how to fix it?
Yep! Try replacing the two rear lower control arms. That’s what I did and bye bye squeaking
Use bushing lube
i had a 94 RS/GSR swap......and i notice that my teggy and other i have been in......the temp guage never reaches the mid point......its always just before it or colder....
+D Cott yeah I think there supposed to stay a little bit before the mid point though, right?
other hondas ive had were allways at the mid point..... only fluctuate when its cool weather.....civc...accord...crv.....teggy is the only Honda where it never reaches the mid point...thus burning more fuel....i stopped putin 93 octane cause teggy are gas guzzlers
I have a 96 and the rear taillight on mine squeaks due to a bolt always falling off but as soon as I tightened it up it stops
It’s really annoying and loud
what I do to solve the gear getting stuck before reverse is I put it into 1st gear then put in into reverse.
+Leonardo _DC4 I used to do that but not I just double clutch both work
yea double clutching works as well
Currently working on a ‘00 dc4, have replaced everything except the motor. Keeps having nasty bunny hop issues. Any ideas?
Like the suspension hops? Definitely sounds like blown struts but check all your bushings on your suspension make sure none are blown. Definitely sounds like the struts tho
Motor mounts if you feel it coming from the engine bay i bought all 5 new ones off eBay
not sure if anyone has gotten to it but if your reverse is still like that check your transmssion fluid. both level and viscosity. thats a common sign that the trans needs to be flushed and refilled
shift into 2nd first then reverse would help that issue
+P71CobraSS never tried that I'll start doing that from now on! Thanks!
2nd then Reverse is a typical Honda thing. I've had to do that with every single Honda Ive had. Other cars like Nissans and toyos do that too. and for first gear, it isnt necessary to put it in first until you're at a stop. Drives me nuts when ppl do that.
Cig outlet never works water getting into my car has always been my problem I need go buy weather strips but I don't want to pay $40 just for 1 door
+Alexander Aldana yeah it's kinda expensive to fox
I have the 93 model don’t have a revers problem and it has a lot like 200k
how much do you guys think a 250 hp build would cost
put it into 2nd then reverse. works every time.
my 96 integra is making a clicking noise in the front wheels area it only does it when I make hard left or right turns while pressing on the gas pedal.
Lu G omg thank you. I truly appreciate the response.
If you catch it soon enough, you can replace just the boot and add the proper grease. Although that may be a cheaper route, a re-manufactured axle is an easier solution and is still affordable.
no problem buddy.. if you have any other questions, dont hesitate to ask! Theyre easy to replace LMK if you need any guidance
For first gear u have to Rev the car up. U have to Rev match for first and reverse. I own a 94 Integra rs, works every time for me. If you don't Rev match that's when it grinds.
you cant rev match reverse....
jonathan mravic hmm works for me without grinding or making odd noises......... Idk doesn't really matter I guess
Do a rear roof spoiler / sun visor thing
+zoom Bale I like those I'll probably buy one later this week
My 91 Acura Integra 2 door standard shift want start by switch so I replaced it still want start by switch but will crank if jumped from the starter or rolled off but will run about 10 minutes and will die and not crank again for about 3 hours later can you help me
Check your alternator it could be broken and not charging the battery
I love my dc5!
I have a problem with my 1997 ls auto teggy my car will crank up but when I go to drive it won’t move and it will cut off some times if anyone sees this will yall give me your thoughts
The squeaking problem is the hooking latch on the inside of the trunk
My H23 trans does that too with reverse and going into 1st sometimes
+Prelude Dude Si yeah it's annoying but there's ways to get around it
+OMGTeggy I just double clutch or let the car roll a little bit, same thing for the big trucks I work on
I got a 96 ls transmission with 246k miles on it after my b16 trans blew up and miraculously the ls transmission goes into reverse as easy as it goes into first I guess I just got really lucky
The shop??? For a hose? That took me like 4 min to replace myself and the hose was like 5 bucks at Auto zone
+Chris Duran this is when I literally didn't know anything about this car
OMGTeggy i started not knowing anything about it..but i dont mind getting my hands dirty...i worked at autozone but never really got down and dirty...and mechanic shop chatge you like 40 bucks....and the reverse problem you dont need to pump the clutch you just keep puting it in all the gears and the synchros shift arround so that the reverse goes in...i engine swapped my teggy and changed the trans b16a2 with a gsr trans with a tune
i have the same problem with squeaking..Is there a way to fix this?
YES!!!!! Make sure it’s in the back though it could also be the front aswell but all you have to do is replace to the two rear control arms and bushings!
had my radiator take a dump on me to when I had first bought my 2000 Teg 3 years ago lol. but if I may add an issue that is probably the most common it would be latch failure to the rear hatch for the 3 door tegs lol I hate having to use my key to open my trunk every single time 😂😂
+Daniel Garcia that's true I left that one out. I hardly ever open up the trunk just because of that haha
same here lol I have my subs back there so I realistically have no trunk space
all in all I love integras and love mine flaws and all
pretty similar problems with the da9 teg too except my shit dont squeak it rattles lol
+zach s yeah I hate the squeaking
My head rests and rear seats rattle 😂. Thats the only problem i have and mines a 94
Slide into 1st, down and over to reverse. Smooth as silk. Soon it becomes habit!
you got a ls right
Yep!
my teg squeaks in the rear and I realised it was the rear bumper, check your bumper clips
Yeah I already checked that, Its definitely something dealing with the suspension but ive heard about that bumper issue as well.
my driver seats creaks a lot and it gets very annoying lol
Yeah mine does the same thing it comes from the seat belt on mine.
alvaro padilla same lol
I put it in 1st then reverse
mine squiks like hell
im about to fix it this year
+INVISIBLE SUN yeah it's really annoying
And you should never down shift to first
Ok thank god Im not the only one with a rattle-y interior 😂
great vidoc
+Ivan Caravantes Thanks! :)
skip the bullshit button >>>>> 1:13
Its the tail lights put thread locker
Alex Decora it's the tail light gaskets leaking
Integra common problem free! "Not owning one" hehe
i heard farting sounds lol
lol
you dont even gotta pump the clutch just put it into 3rd then reverse
Cuz you need to put in the clutch
When u wanna shift into reverse go into first and then go to reverse.
my neighbor got his manual gsr stolen yesterday :(
+Atrocious Desperado damn I hope that never happens to mine
just got a 96 😊😊💓👌
+Tony Farranto awesome! I love that year!
