Emily, you mention in your video that you will do video comparing these Elehear Alpha Pros with your prescription hearing aids. Would love to hear how these stack up.
Yes, to answer this right away: OTC aids are made for mild to moderate losses. I have a moderate to severe loss. Therefore, the Alpha’s don’t work for my right (severe ear). So I prefer my ReSound aids. That said, if I was in a pinch (like forgot to charge, or an aid went in for repair) the Alphas would help much more than having no amplification.
I currently wear the ReSound ONEs and they are a much better fit for my loss, especially my right ear (severe hearing loss). The Alpha Pros are made for people with mild to moderate loss. I experienced that as they worked well for me in my left ear (moderate loss).
Restaurant mode does work. It can feel a little plugged as the background noise is reduced but that’ll help you focus more on the conversation. Overall, I like the Orka 2 more. I’m willing to pay more so I think the Orka 2 is worth it. That said, the ELEHEAR Alpha is a good value for the money. I hope that helps.
You said "I have a moderate to severe loss and noticed the Alpha ELEHEAR aids did help me hear in my left (moderate ear). " Does that mean it did not help you in the right ear which has severe hearing loss? I have severe hearing loss starting at 1khz and profound hearing loss starting at 3khz. What hearing aid model do they have for that, if any?
Is there a way to switch out the closed domes for open ones from another brand? It’s the only thing holding me back from purchase. Thank you in advance.
I’m not sure how another brand’s domes would fit. That said, to replace the Alpha Pro domes you just securely hold the wire and receiver in one hand and pull the dome off with the other.
I appreciate this review. But.. how influenced are your comments by the fact that you are earning a commission from sales through your links? This OTC hearing aid world is very difficult to navigate. I'm sure the deregulation is supposed to help us afford the help we need... but I'm afraid it's also created a market for dishonest scoundrels. Thanks for being honest.
Great question! I feel my review is as honest as it can be balancing all the points you pointed out and others. You deserve to know they have me a free product and paid for the video to be made and posted. Considering that and other factors, ultimately, hearing devices fit everyone differently. It is up to you and people purchasing to do their research and invest in devices they feel will meet their needs. This is another reason I HIGHLY recommend going to an audiologist to better understand your hearing loss and get a professional, personal amplification recommendation.
That doesn't mean they have the same features. I would suggest that you forward a list of your Phonak's features to this company and ask them to check off or list which of your Phonak's features are included in their product.
ELEHEAR just informed me the Alpha is available for a limited time for $499! $100 less than I mentioned in the video!
I just bought a pair. I’m getting them Friday. I super exited.
Wahoo congratulations!!
Thank for your review Emily. I’m planning to purchase these and I’m looking forward to receiving them. 😊
I’m glad you enjoyed my review! I hope you enjoy the product and it’s neat features!
This sounds great for OTCs…packed with technology. And the price?? WOW! I hope this market keeps evolving. Thanks for the review.
Yes!! The price is great! I hope it will help more people get the hearing care they need.
Thank you ❤
Thanks!
Nice Emily ! These have the features I looked for when I was shopping. OMW, the cost, thats incredible too!
It really is!

What brand and model did you have before and how do these compare? Thanks

Do you get any feedback when putting them on the highest setting?
Not that I’ve noticed. I’ll try it though.
How well do they work in noisy environments. Does the restaurant mode actually work? How do you compare them to Orka 2?

Question how loang the charge last ??❤
The charge lasts up to 20 hours.
Does it stream your phone calls straight into the hearing aids?
I tested music (sounded amazing!) I need to test the call!

Correct. These OTC aids will not be a good fit for your hearing loss. They didn’t help my right (severe loss) ear hear and they weren’t built to. :/
Can you stream from television?
Supposedly I can but don’t
Do these hearing aids stream both sides of a phone conversation to Android cell phones hands-free like Costco's KS10s did?
I don’t have an Android so I’m not sure what that streaming experience is like.

What is the processing speed of those in milliseconds? Widex has the fasted processors in the market actually
32 kHz per second. What is Widex’s? Also, Widex and these Alphas (OTCs) are in different markets.
Per the specification documents on their page, 11ms.

That looks like my phonak
Crazy right?? They’re sleek!
I tried 3 different OTC hearing aids and always go back to my 7 year old Phonak for speech clarity.
