These are half our fleet now and I have to say I’m not a fan and I’m glad the PSI got discontinued in these buses. These suck on hills specifically fully loaded. I always make the joke that I tell the kids to all lean forward when going uphill because the bus just laughs at you when you press the accelerator.
We have 16 gas buses total, the rest are diesel. The only thing I like about the gas buses is how quiet they are to drive. Most of our diesel buses are older and pre-date all the emissions and computerized crap. We only have 12 new diesels, which is what I normally drive.
@@0312Productions our oldest route bus is a 2000 or 2001 Thomas fs-65. We have a lot of ‘02 Internationals still on route. Several 90’s buses (mostly Bluebird’s) as spares still.
@@0312Productions I have some videos of one of the ‘02 Internationals that I drive last week for a spare that will be coming soon. We only bought used buses for a long time, so we had a very diverse older fleet. Our newest buses we had purchased until Covid was 2007 Thomas fs-65’s and 2007 IC CE’s. We started buying new CE’s during Covid with grant money, so about half our fleet now is 2021-2023 CE’s, half gas half diesel.
I like how it sounds. With headphones on I can hear the rear differential humming. It does sound good. Looks like it has the same rear gear as the 2017 ic CE with the Cummins isb I rode to school in my freshman sophomore and senior year by looking at the shifts and hearing the axle hum.

@@busdriverlucas Wow! Sounds like a nice fleet. I’ll be waiting on those videos of the ‘02 Internationals lol.

I didn't know gas powered buses still exist! 😮
IC doesn’t offer them anymore. Blue Bird does though, they use The Ford 7.3L Godzilla engine for gas and propane.
@@Josb_Bluebird2143 Wow!
I love it when it makes that loud noise
I didn't even know IC still offered manual doors as an option

@@ericdircksI’m the same person as the above comment but why are you copying my comment?
sounds different with a gas motor
Yep, very quiet compared to the diesels
@@Xcrispy1249 no, it’s got an Allison automatic
@@busdriverlucas oh makes since
@@busdriverlucaswhat do you prefer gas, diesel or electric?
@ diesel all the way! I can tolerate gas, but don’t give me any electric crap
I’m not used to ice sounds cause the bus I ride is a icre
Nice engine fan ❤
The nostalgia
Is the loud noise just the engine fan
I am watching from Elmira NY I didn't see the bus driver pick anybody up
A manual door... on a 2022? Didn't think they'd still offer them.
They still do.
@BusDriver71 do all the buses that are in the school district you drive for. Do they all have manual doors?
44-55 have manual doors and all of our buses older than that have manual doors, but 56-71 all have electric doors.
@@busdriverlucasok
Bus 71 to Hobbsfamily no they do not
Is that bus manual
He can manually shifts it if he wants with the 1,2,4 my driver used to do that
No, because IC CE Busses don't make manuals
Does this have standard suspension or air ride suspension?
Standard. Our 2007 Thomas fs-65’s are our only buses with air-ride
@@busdriverlucas : ok
@@busdriverlucashow did it ride? Apparently as leaf springs age the ride quality will slowly decrease.
Is this diesel, propane or gasoline?
Gasoline
@@busdriverlucasI thought it was either propane or gasoline because sometimes those new propanes have a engine fan
@@Unknownuserr0002They all have engine fans. IC likes using air powered fan clutches.
