There is no way to just take a couple of carnival songs to suggest. There are just too many masterpieces. But I will throw a couple more in there. Themata Deadman Simple Boy All I know I could go on and on.. Love the great, KARNIVOOL!
Much appreciation for giving us Australians a shot to showcase our talent. Been requesting this for ages over various reaction channels and glad you did this 👍
The mix in these Moshcam videos is actually terrible and not representative of how unreasonably massive these guys sound live. They're a phenomenal live band, tight as hell. And the sound on this one is actually better than the rest of their Moshcam stuff. So, go figure.
Hi Jim, appreciate your honesty and I was not blown away by this performance either. BUT, beeing a huge Vool fan I will ask you kindly not to give up on them. Try a couple of studio versions, like Deadman or maybe We are from their latest. I am also a big Riverside, Pineapple Thief, Porcupine Tree , Leprous, Opeth fan (to mention a few) so I recognize good music when I hear it 😊😊
Karnivool has popped up on my Pandora "Riverside" station....like Riverside, and a lot of Prog bands, I think the album versions are better for the subtleties missing in live recordings ie: cymbal work, guitar/bass harmonics, and keyboard layering. I like live recordings, but only when I'm already familiar with the song.
After having been on a Tool streak and now some Karnivool, I'd recommend a third double "oo" band called Rishloo. Choose any song on the latest three albums, they showcase their talent better than the first album. My suggestion would be the song Eidolon Alpha.
You got a very wrong first impression of Karnivool. You should give them a chance and listen to the studio version. You could try simple boy, cote, New day, shutter speed or goliath.
OOOH YEAH! Karnivool! Was hoping you'd check them out. This is one of their more straight up songs. Excellent atmosphere. In a similar vein: Birds of Tokyo - Catastrophe Different band, same singer as Karnivool. Leaning more towards a Muse like sound.
Glad you listened to it! I will say though, this version of it is a little weird. The vocals really drown everything else out. I will say their live version of Deadman is spot on. So if you revisit Karnivool you should definitely check it out if you are looking at live versions of their songs.
No, nor me - it might be my mistake as has been requested by loads of people - perhaps if I'd picked the studio version I'd have preferred it. I was a bit underwhelmed.
Jim, try ''Sky Machine'', ''Nachash'', ''A.M.War'' or ''Goliath'' (by Karnivool) for odd time signatures. Also, if you like excellent drumming you should listen Atomship - The Crash of '47, entire album iz remarkable (''Mothra'' iz fuckin' killer track)
Jim, can't believe I recently just found these guys too and they've apparently been around a long time. I get what you're saying compared to some of the great stuff you've been reviewing lately. I like the official video version of this song better than the live. Please do some more down the road. Might be tough to get to what with the Tool catalogue being what it is. :)
Hey, thanks for picking up the suggestion. Themata is the title track from their first album which is much more traditional im style. If you have another look, try deadman from their second album as suggested above - m.th-cam.com/video/WbLEYQo98t0/w-d-xo.html. Much more proggy in style, link is the album version. Keep up the good work!
I think the issue here is the live thing. The intro was better for me as it was designed to be played live. But the song itself is AMAZING if u listen to the studio version
I completely disagree. I think this version is way better than the studio version, the intro to this version is breathtaking, and I wish I was there to experience it. The studio version is great, but this version is much better by far.
Appreciate the reaction. I like Themata but I don't think it's a very good representation of them. New Day or Change pt. 2 would be more enjoyable for you.
Not the best version to start with. The album version is much better and doesn't have that long drawn out intro. This is the title track to the Themata (Tea-mAH-ta) album and is probably the best song on it. The follow up album "Sound Awake" is far superior and there are some great choices on it: Goliath, Deadman, Change part 2, All I know, New Day and please check out the album versions over the live ones, but if you MUST choose a live version, seek out the "Live at the forum" gig on youtube. Don't write them off just yet, they're a better band than this video would lead you to believe. th-cam.com/video/WbLEYQo98t0/w-d-xo.html
Please do "New Day" by Karnivool As well!!!

Themata
Deadman
Simple Boy
All I know
I could go on and on..
Love the great, KARNIVOOL!
I live in the States where not many people have even heard of Karnivool. I love them! Saw them at a small club in Michigan a few years ago. Amazing!!
Much appreciation for giving us Australians a shot to showcase our talent. Been requesting this for ages over various reaction channels and glad you did this 👍
You are becoming one of my favorite reaction channels. Keep up the good work.
Thank you! Glad you're enjoying the content! Jim 😁
You should definitely check out cote by karnivool.
Yeah, thats one of the only songs on Themata that I like.
The mix in these Moshcam videos is actually terrible and not representative of how unreasonably massive these guys sound live. They're a phenomenal live band, tight as hell.

cheers for your re-upload of karnivool music

I love what you love - this is so wonderful - especialy everything !
two best bands in the world come from Australia.... karnivool and ne obliviscaris... hands down
You can't say you know what karnivool sound like from 1 songs they have many different sounding songs
Awesome. You also have to check out Deadman(studio or live versions, theyre both very good), Aeons or Sky Machine. Thanks :)

Makes sense! If people posted a link with the request it would make this a whole lot easier!
TwinRavens this karnivool gig is old and does sound ropey, I've seen them live twice and they are a much better live band these days
Haha! Weird timestamps and broken drums? Please check the song "Scarabs" from Karnivool as well. :P

I haven’t heard them before, but it’s piqued my interest. The singer reminds me of the guy from The Mars Volta, but calmed down a bit. Thanks!
Check out Uneven Structure - Frost/Hail, will definitely blow you away!
Try the studio version.

Ooh, love this song. Love this album. First time hearing it live though, not as good as i expected : '

Wow! Lots to go at there! Thanks for the suggestions 😁

Jim you are a good bloke
Jim, please do Alpha Omega (live from Ghost City Sessions) by Karnivool. I think you would really appreciate the recording.
Check out their song Scarabs if you want to hear the weird time signatures

zed4672 It's just the quality of the mix. This song rules hard, live and otherwise.
Love Czech beer
This live version isn't that good actually, you must fix the experience by listening to the studio version, this entire album is fantastic!
amen broda!
I completely disagree. I think this version is way better than the studio version, the intro to this version is breathtaking, and I wish I was there to experience it. The studio version is great, but this version is much better by far.
Deadman by Karnivool. Live or studio 🤷🏽♂️
Dude seriously. Check out the album version. I believe you will put them higher on your scale.
Karnivool- Simple boy
hey, can you do fear of the sky by karnivool ! new sub by the way, keep it up
The drummer's wearing medical tape, not a t-shirt.
Ah, my bad! Thanks :)
This is a better version th-cam.com/video/cvOStkr9ZGo/w-d-xo.html Anything from that gig is pretty awesome.
Check out Russian Circles th-cam.com/video/ONzYMVrhTyk/w-d-xo.html
Theh-Mah-Tuh. Liked the greek letter ;)
Wooo i got a shout out 😂
Whoop!
Enjoy your beer............... ;-)
Thanks Ann, it was delicious. It's been very hot today and spent most of it gardening, so chilling with a beer doing a video or two was a just reward!
Appreciate the reaction. I like Themata but I don't think it's a very good representation of them. New Day or Change pt. 2 would be more enjoyable for you.

This is more primitive to what they have done since. Goliath is a better representation, or anything off the Sound Awake album.
Can't work out the painfully obvious fact that the drummer isn't wearing a shirt? You lost any and all credibility.
