    That colour is gorgeous!! Thinking of getting a blue one as my first 'big' bike. Checking it out next couple of days.

    I just bought the same bike a 2002 600 katana here in the United States. It's plenty fast for a first "sports" bike and Im having a ton of fun with it.

    Frank Sidebottom does bikes😂😂😂 is your helmet papiermache?? 😂😂
    Great review,much better all round choice than a gsf/bandit.
    Your specs were from the pre facelift model,98 on has 78bhp as it is the same specs as the bandit!
    No bad thing cheap as chips and a better choice for the home mechanic as the clearance are spanner and screw driver!👍🏻

    I had the previous gen bike which imo was a much better looking bike and not as heavy … for its time it was one of the lesser powered 600’s on the road as both Kawasaki zzr 600 and Honda cbr600 had a few more ponies, but it was cheaper and possibly more bullet proof than the aforementioned… the oil cooled engine was used in the bandit. Would crack 130 at a push but also carry 2 people and luggage comfortably…. A great all rounder… brakes were a bit wooden, but sorted with braided hoses, and you could swap the head from the 750 to give more compression

      I always thought the previous gen looked better too mate, I don't know much about them and how they perform so thank you so much for the info mate.
      Ride Safe and thank you for the comment it means a lot.

    They get an unfair press, probably not the best bike ever.or best looking, but the bad press is undeserved

    I have the 1991 model. Would you advise radials or cross ply tires? It's nowhere to be found what the OEM tires were. Thank you!

      @@Smiles_per_gallon01 The BT46 I assume?

      @Smiles_per_gallon01  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @woodyamsterdam i think i use bt23 on my bmw k1200rs but not sure which ones are on the gsxf. I'll have a look next time I'm over at my father inlaws as it's his bike.

    • @woodyamsterdam
      @woodyamsterdam หลายเดือนก่อน

      Eventually I found out that the OEM tires were Dunlop cross ply, so I went for the Brigestone BT46 in the original factory size. It handles so much better now than with the lower aspect ratio Battleax S22 that the previous owner had fitted. It’s like riding on rails and it corners much more agile in every day use. The previous owner used this bike exclusively for an occasional track day a few times a year and for that purpose the S22’s were a good choice, but for every day use the BT46 is the better choice for me.
      Cheers!

    I've had two of the old type GSX600f and they were pretty quick bikes, if butt ugly. The older ones were a bit more sporty and had 86 BHP, which would get them up to around 140 mph and they were able to keep up with most 600s on the road until around the mid 90s.
    I used to ride around with a mate, who had the 600 Bandit, and he was always surprised at how the bikes had the same engine, but mine was a lot quicker than his 😛

      The gsf is rated at 77bhp 1000rpm higher up and yours has 84bhp if it had been de baffled with the K+N air filter in a modded air box and stage one Dyno jet kit it should be 4-6 bhp more but possibly more lower and mid range, they're quite torquey units and those mods will give near 750 torque which makes it a good choice for a cheap tourer.
      Best mod for a road legal pipe is putting the GSXR pipe on it weighs 11kgs or 5% lighter on the bikes overall weight and allows gases to exit quicker being smaller,if you can find a cheap one well worth it!

      @@stevep9739 The newer ones were a lot less powerful than the older ones.
      Here's what the bike guides at the time said about it (the 1987 versions)
      "The Suzuki GSX600F is a mid-range sports touring bike and is powered by an air / oil cooled 599 cc inline four engine which puts out 86 bhp at 10,500 rpm and maximum torque at 9,500".
      I've had two of them, and they were a lot more powerful and faster than the 600 Bandits that my mates were riding at the same time, I've ridden lots of Bandits 🙂

      @Rayvz46 yes mate i tend to not ride too fast these days because i had a horrific bike crash in 2017 that left me in hospital for 2 month. Really bad

    • @woodyamsterdam
      @woodyamsterdam 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That is not entirely true because from 1990 onward Suzuki made the carbs bigger (I think it was from 39 to 43 mm) and that made de bike pick up a lot quicker around 4500-5000 rpm. I keep it within that rev range and it works for me.

      @@Smiles_per_gallon01 ok was wondering because I told a friend that I was looking at one and he said no because it’s a very heavy bike for a first bike. I just feel that I would be more comfortable on something like a short touring as opposed to a sport bike.

    • @Smiles_per_gallon01
      @Smiles_per_gallon01  ปีที่แล้ว

      @ronniecason9807 it's more a sports Tourer rather than sports bike, well bit in-between should i say. Its a very comfortable sports bike if thats how to portrait it. Great bike for beginners but yes little heavy. Very cheap to buy

      Yes your friend is right you would expect to pay £1000 to £1500.
      The one in the vlog is a v reg with 20k on clock and i think he paid about £1000.
