Yes!! Every time Jessica tried to prompt him to say something bad he turned right around to say they were good. I just started and finished the show in 24 hours because you know... quarantine... anyway I know this comment is a week old but this show became all I cared about for a whole day and I had to respond to the fact that I NEVER in a million years would’ve imagined one of the couples I ended up rooting for in the end was Barnet and Amber. This show was a roller coaster of emotions for me and I don’t ever need to experience it again lol

just read an article of an interview with Rory and he said that the 6 couples they showed were not the only ones to get engaged but the producers didn't expect so many couples to actually propose so they picked 6 couples but like twice as much actually proposed but since the producers didn't expect it they just kinda sent the other couples on their way and that's why we don't see their story lines. I think they just picked the 6 they thought would be best for TV. ... if that sheds anymore light on why other people were barely shown.

His sexuality aside, I found how he handles conflict to be completely problematic. The deflecting, gaslighting, name calling, and insults were just beyond what any woman or man should put up with. If that's how he handles disagreements, good riddance. I failed to see his attraction to her. They were not affectionate, he just made sarcastic and not-so-nice comments about her being "the crazy one (obviously he didn't meet Jessica or Gigi), which led Diamond to leave and go sit by the pool. There was no romantic connection once they were face to face. There was a lot to unpack with his sexuality that I don't know if would have been resolved in the 30 days til their wedding date. I think Carlton needed therapy and they would have needed couples' therapy before trying the knot, but honestly, I had trouble with his behavior being more "sassier" than mine. He was catty and bitchy which I found completely unattractive.

This show is premium trash with trainwreck like Jessica who is TV Gold. In terms of people, you root for Lauren and Cameron are super cute together and I'm glad they are still married (This was filmed in late 2018). This was the #1 program on the US version of Netflix for multiple days and the show is still in the top 5 even tho it's finished now. I can't wait to watch the Reunion hopefully it's super messy (I'm expecting Amber and Jessica to argue).

The cast/entertainment outlets have also stated this after the show. I don't know if they had to pay fully for the festivities, maybe Netflix contributed a little but it definitely was not by any means fully funded by Netflix. I think that's why Jessica and Mark's venue is so nice cause Jessica is well off. Definitely sucks for those who didn't get married though.
Based on what I’ve heard Netflix gave them a budget for the wedding and wedding dresses but if they go over that budget they have to pay that money themselves 🤷🏾♀️

There’s a narrative that black people are very homophobic and women are very intolerant of gay black men. It wasn’t right, but I do comprehend Carlton’s reaction. I think he was really hurt that Diamond said she needed time to process (which is her right) instead of immediately being accepting of it. White people tend to be more accepting of fluidity (which he mentions is the most common race he’s dated) and I think he immediately got defensive because he felt hurt that she seemed uncomfortable. He should have never called her a bitch but throwing a drink in someone’s face is pretty nasty behavior too.
It’s really unfair that Diamond was accused of being bi-phobic. I understand that Carlton was trying to prove that being bisexual doesn’t make up everything he is, but it certainly is a part of who you are romantically.. and to not reveal that until after you propose and see each other in person seems a bit shady. Besides, the minute he told Diamond this, she was still comforting him and doing her best to try and calm him down. Then the moment she wanted to talk about it and how it’s affecting her, Carlton lashed out and put her down, called her names, and called her bi-phobic which is just ridiculous. It wasn’t the fact that he was bisexual that made her upset, it was the fact that he withheld that information from her and didn’t tell her sooner. I agree with you and JK. I am a straight woman and I make it clear I do NOT date bisexual men. I can be friends with LGBT, I work with them, get along with them - fine. If I had kids, I wouldn't mind if they're LGBT, but the idea of being intimate with a bisexual man is a turn off for me. I'm straight. I want a straight man. Rory got engaged on the show, but they didn’t get married. There were actually 8 engagements but they only chose to show the 5 most interesting couples.
So I read that the two other couples didn’t work out either. Actually Rory’s story got messier since the woman he proposed to later decided she wanted to break up to explore her feelings for another guy in the pods. This didn’t work out either. I really want to know what we’re the reasons other candidates didn’t match, is it that they didn’t make a connection and therefore no proposal or they did and then The physics didn’t work and they change their mind. Because 6 people ended up in long term couples on the 30 people at the beginning which is 1/5 - an very good rate of you ask me.

Okay so I know someone who worked on the show and he's told me a couple of things. 1. Plants: Even if love is blind, the people working on the show are not. There are a load of blind dates that we don't see and producers slowly weed out contestants to match people up with people whom they think would suit them based on what they've said on other dates. 2. Nick & Vanessa: There was a TONNE of their content that was cut for some reason. There was a whole game they played where the guys designed the engagement ring, hence the scenes in which they nervously talk to the girls about what kind of ring they were hoping for.
@@Naaaxy Absolutely. He hadn't seen the final edit until it aired and was really shocked with just how little of them there was, particularly given how many little mini games that they did that were all just cut.
I absolutely loved Lauren and Cameron as a couple. I also loved watching Jessica lose her damn mind. (You sooo know she's gonna get her own reality show out of this...)
What I had to think about is that "love is blind" has a German version, which states that "love makes blind" meaning you potentially overlook flaws or mistakes your partner has/makes for the sake of love. Keeping that in mind, this show makes total sense to me. The experiment itself is quite interesting, but rushing the people to get married makes it about "Can people fall in love within a month?" rather than an experiment on whether love was blind, which is a pity.
Thanks for watching this for us so that we didn’t need to. So glad I didn’t have to sit through this. Friends and everyone in the office have been raving about this and I couldn’t take more than the first 5 minutes.

I just started and finished the show in 24 hours because you know... quarantine... anyway I know this comment is a week old but this show became all I cared about for a whole day and I had to respond to the fact that I NEVER in a million years would’ve imagined one of the couples I ended up rooting for in the end was Barnet and Amber. This show was a roller coaster of emotions for me and I don’t ever need to experience it again lol

just read an article of an interview with Rory and he said that the 6 couples they showed were not the only ones to get engaged but the producers didn't expect so many couples to actually propose so they picked 6 couples but like twice as much actually proposed but since the producers didn't expect it they just kinda sent the other couples on their way and that's why we don't see their story lines. I think they just picked the 6 they thought would be best for TV. ... if that sheds anymore light on why other people were barely shown.

His sexuality aside, I found how he handles conflict to be completely problematic. The deflecting, gaslighting, name calling, and insults were just beyond what any woman or man should put up with. If that's how he handles disagreements, good riddance.
I failed to see his attraction to her. They were not affectionate, he just made sarcastic and not-so-nice comments about her being "the crazy one (obviously he didn't meet Jessica or Gigi), which led Diamond to leave and go sit by the pool. There was no romantic connection once they were face to face.
There was a lot to unpack with his sexuality that I don't know if would have been resolved in the 30 days til their wedding date. I think Carlton needed therapy and they would have needed couples' therapy before trying the knot, but honestly, I had trouble with his behavior being more "sassier" than mine. He was catty and bitchy which I found completely unattractive.
He was projecting defensiveness, but there was something off with them anyway from the moment they met in the flesh. I do think he's genuinely bisexual. But thank goodness they got out of it in Mexico and neither of them road the train all the way down aisle.

This show is premium trash with trainwreck like Jessica who is TV Gold. In terms of people, you root for Lauren and Cameron are super cute together and I'm glad they are still married (This was filmed in late 2018). This was the #1 program on the US version of Netflix for multiple days and the show is still in the top 5 even tho it's finished now. I can't wait to watch the Reunion hopefully it's super messy (I'm expecting Amber and Jessica to argue).

The cast/entertainment outlets have also stated this after the show. I don't know if they had to pay fully for the festivities, maybe Netflix contributed a little but it definitely was not by any means fully funded by Netflix. I think that's why Jessica and Mark's venue is so nice cause Jessica is well off. Definitely sucks for those who didn't get married though.

It’s really unfair that Diamond was accused of being bi-phobic. I understand that Carlton was trying to prove that being bisexual doesn’t make up everything he is, but it certainly is a part of who you are romantically.. and to not reveal that until after you propose and see each other in person seems a bit shady. Besides, the minute he told Diamond this, she was still comforting him and doing her best to try and calm him down. This show just proved to me that height is the most important thing in a male. Mark was a good guy but he was the shortest and he knew that and it made him insecure. Height is way more important than a good head of hair, fitness or face. Everybody who says something else is deluding himself.

One guy i dated was the same height as me (1.60m) and it never bothered me. Jessica wanted barnett before ever seeing him. Maybe she found barnett hot due his height, yes. She wanted Barnett, but choose mark because Barnett didn’t choose her. The age gap seems to be an excuse, overall she wasn’t to sure about her relationship with mark because she questions it through out, effectively, she said no at the Alter.
She didn’t want Mark because he was a fitness instructor. She mentioned it at least twice on how she would definitely get a prenup and in the end.

I think she just has never met someone as emotionally stable and patient as Damien. She definitely came off as emotionally immature and pushing the boundaries. People who think this show is crazy have obviously never seen for the love of ray j, rock of love, a shot at love with Tila tequila, or any of the other “dating” shows from the mid 2000’s. This was the tamest reality show I’ve ever seen in my life.

I saw nothing wrong with Mark’s behavior. It just seemed like he was putting a lot of energy into a person that didn’t deserve it. If he was with a girl who genuinely reciprocated his feelings and didn’t try to play him like a yo-yo, no one would call him clingy.
@@themelanatednomad6989 That's the problem though. It was painfully obvious she didn't reciprocate his feelings. There is a thin line between nice guy, and just flat out being someone's fool. He let himself get played. If she was sneaky about it I would almost understand, but she blatantly disrespected him habitually. Mad cause Barnett messed with her heart, while the whole time playing with his. He should've just stood up for himself. That's where I do think there is a problem with the way he acted.

So I read that the two other couples didn’t work out either. Actually Rory’s story got messier since the woman he proposed to later decided she wanted to break up to explore her feelings for another guy in the pods. This didn’t work out either.
I really want to know what we’re the reasons other candidates didn’t match, is it that they didn’t make a connection and therefore no proposal or they did and then The physics didn’t work and they change their mind. Because 6 people ended up in long term couples on the 30 people at the beginning which is 1/5 - an very good rate of you ask me.
In defense of Cameron’s terrible rap I’ve got to say that Lauren’s mum was like „so I heard u can rap?“ and asked him to perform, he didn’t randomly started to rap

Okay so I know someone who worked on the show and he's told me a couple of things.
1. Plants: Even if love is blind, the people working on the show are not. There are a load of blind dates that we don't see and producers slowly weed out contestants to match people up with people whom they think would suit them based on what they've said on other dates.
2. Nick & Vanessa: There was a TONNE of their content that was cut for some reason. There was a whole game they played where the guys designed the engagement ring, hence the scenes in which they nervously talk to the girls about what kind of ring they were hoping for.

What I had to think about is that "love is blind" has a German version, which states that "love makes blind" meaning you potentially overlook flaws or mistakes your partner has/makes for the sake of love. Keeping that in mind, this show makes total sense to me.
The experiment itself is quite interesting, but rushing the people to get married makes it about "Can people fall in love within a month?" rather than an experiment on whether love was blind, which is a pity.
