      It is also a great example of why CRT is doomed. When a Malcolm Nance is a champion of it then by definition it is finished.

    • @danporath536
      @danporath536 3 ปีที่แล้ว +389

      This wasn’t “debate”, it is infotainment for audience capture and retention. A debate would be two to three hours with a moderator, a proponent of CRT and an opponent. It would start with coming to a mutual agreement on definitions. It won’t happen because proponents of CRT would never agree to this.

Even Maher had to call him out for lying that CRT is history and that Ben called CRT bullshit. I would as well, actually. However, Ben has been given the exact same advantage in other debates. It depends on the makeup of the crowd. I debate apologetics on a regular basis and I rarely enjoy debating in front of the congregation. Mob mentality always kicks in at some point and it can be difficult to get a single word out. Even when I’m debating apologetics in front of a crowd that generally supports my own arguments, the moment I catch the crowd rallying against my opponent, I try to immediately shut it down because it can truly make the debate one sided and I don’t believe any progress is made from that point onward. Nance should’ve had the courage to confront the audience and allow Ben his time. Of course, it’s difficult for me to feel completely sorry for Ben, because he’s guilty of allowing the same type of behavior.

      Uhh…. Republicans don’t actually define CRT as such. Im not sure where you are getting your info. The problem is becoming that CRT influenced subjects are being required in public schools, so states are banning any interpretation of history that puts pressure on students today because of their race. Personally i think its a horrible solution, but it is sensible since the state shouldn’t be mandating controversial interpretations of history. Scalp Act of 1749 - this guy is going back almost 275 years, so far that it can't even be called American history, since it was before the United States was founded.
    Also, he seems to think the racism of that day will surprise his audience. Maybe he didn't pay attention in school and had just learned about all that, but most of us have known about it forever.
    The Chinese Exclusion Act of the 1840's - still going back 180 years, and again, everyone who paid even a little bit of attention in school knows this stuff happened, and there's nothing talking about it now can achieve. Chinese people do very well in the U.S., so they're not trying to get free victim points for shit that happened before they were born.
    Malcom was being such a smug assole here. I know what he's doing. He tries to contrast himself against Ben's (justified) anger by acting cool and smiling and laughing at Ben's replies, trying to make himself look like the more confident person and "bigger man," which he hopes will convince people that he's right. He's implicitly saying "Look at how relaxed I am about this, I'm this chill because I don't even care what people like Ben think." It's a social play. He does not debate, he tries to win people over. That's the key indicator of a morally compromised person. I don't agree with Ben about a lot, but he was much the victor here.

      I'm a right winger, but while the left is insane, the right is stupid, and most asshats do in fact get it wrong.
      Ben gives a good, real definition of CRT here. It is monstrous, and what's beautiful is that the CRT goblin publicly endorses it shamelessly.
      He says out loud that under CRT, the existence of a disparity, by itself, is evidence that said disparity is caused by discrimination. This is transparently retarded. Newton saw an apple move from a tree to the ground; saying that the existence of the movement is evidence that a force called gravity caused the apple to fall is as logical as saying that the existence of the movement is evidence that aliens caused the apple to fall; better evidence is needed and this is a dogshit epistemic standard.
      CRT scholars never actually do the research to show that this is the case. They'll just point to something like an income gap, and point to all sorts of statistics on outcome differences, but never give proper evidence that discrimination is to blame because they're operating on a perverted version of critical theory which has descended into relativism.
