    Hi. Thanks for the video. I have two suggestions to improve the install. First, I suggest using spring clamps made specifically for clamping hoses in place rather than using zip ties. Second, with just a tiny bit of filing on the top edge of the seat support brackets and those can be reinstalled with the aux tank. Theses seat supports help carry the weight of the rider rather than having the tank support the rider.

    Best video made on this excellent product (with superbly clear camera shots BTW) by anyone including the manufacturers who bloody well ought to be paying you a royalty mate. If only you didn't talk so bloody much it would be perfect, please try to keep your gob shut next time. Apart from that, one of your esteemed countrymen has discovered (in a rare moment of sobriety) that you can make this tank work by simply connecting it to the breather pipe on the main tank. Obviously this does not allow you the option of choosing when the auxiliary tank is deployed but for those like myself, who are prepared to swap that aspect for prioritising the reduction of top end weight first, it saves a great deal of time better spent at the pub.

      @@tequilagrub Keep up the good work mate!

    • @Britishshooter
      @Britishshooter 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tequilagrub Another good reason to connect it as you did is that you can put another 'T' piece coming out of the tank and fit it with a fast release connection so you can add a 5.5 litre side tank from Rallye Raid in the UK. With the extra top tank the range in miles will extend to 250 miles plus(or 400Kms), with the side tank also fitted that will be well over 300 miles (500Kms). Actually if you think about it there is nothing in this weight class that can achieve that range. The 690 rules as far as a serious adventure bike in my book. Used one on the extended 7,500 mile TAT in the USA.

    • @Britishshooter
      @Britishshooter 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tequilagrub My Rallye Raid side tank came with a fast disconnect (push button to disconnect type) and it was 100% leak proof when the tank was off the bike. And the tank also came with a tap so you could remove it full of fuel. Only problem I encountered was the bio fuel in the USA hardened up the O ring in the tap causing a leak (which in turn caused a scary afternoon lost in a gigantic forrest running on vapour!). My advice is to order a few extra O rings with the tank as the actual type and size is difficult to find in 'petrol proof' construction. I swapped out lots of ordinary ones from New Holland tractor dealers who were the only guys with that size in the USA but they leaked due to not being "petrol proof". All you need is another T unit just outside of the main tank bottom and then put a short length from that T to a disconnect to allow you the choice of using the side tank or not. Thats what I am going to do myself anyway. I would not recommend Rallye Raid pannier frames though, they are too heavy.

    So, no more airbox. Just an air filter open to the elements under the seat.
    This is why an 890R dirties it's own air filter just riding along a dusty road, dust swirls up under the seat off the rear tire, and is why KTM has the OEM snorkle breathing towards front of bike on 690.
    I dunno, this kit is 600.00? I will carry a fuel bag or bottle and use when needed.
    Great video though! Very clearly done.

    Hi, i just fitted to my 2010 690 but far more painful than yours. I did all kinds of placing and testing but he fuel cap touches the seat bracket , there is no bolt to hold the stopcock, I routed the ful pipe on the inside of the frame near the rear shock, seems to be out of the way and strong cable ties. I don't want it exposed. I don't have the T piece in my bag, so it confused the hell out of me, plus the 10mm pink pipe needs to be bigger to go better on one of the other vents. I think the system seems to fit as lot easier for the newer 690's. BTW, I originally also routed through the OEM air vent (Siphon method) but then decided against it as the fuel cap is difficult to get off each time... why did you need to do a 15min reset?

    The 690/701 might be my next bike, in maybe one or two years. For sure I will be looking at a way to increase range. Two concerns about the Rade tank: 1) is the bike getting louder with this open airbox? 2) will KTM still honor warranty claims for any engine damages with such a modification? Looks like a good reason for them to refuse any claims! Good video, thanks!

    • @eddiebones20
      @eddiebones20 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Personally, I'm saying F that warranty. They're always trying to find a loophole to not honor it. Make the bike yours regardless of the factory nannies.

    • @Duken4evr29
      @Duken4evr29 ปีที่แล้ว

      The original airbox is large, which is good, but it has a long snorkel on it to minimize intake noise. The main reason I don't do this mod is the intake honk is insane.

      Duncan Bexon after I installed tank I noticed a significant gap between the seat and frame on the right side around the tank. Was wondering if you had similar issues. Maybe there is something still in the way and the tank can sit lower. I tried installing rear bracket in both orientations with same results.

      Duncan Bexon I added the plastic brackets back in and they fit great and addresses the gap and offers better support then just the tank. I sent photos before and after to rade garage showing them the difference. Works great with stock and seat concepts seat. All good.
