IMO: These levers are built better than the stuff that was coming out of New Haven for at least the last 35 years of that factory's life. Miroku is a very reputable manufacture that has been around for a long time. The purple colouring you see on certain parts is usually do to the type of cast the part was made from. The reaction of the blueing over time is different than milled or forged parts. Usually an indication of an investment cast part.

.45 Colt is one of those cartridges you really have to reload for. If you reload and cast your own projectiles, you can make it for pennies. It is my favorite caliber.

The pointy thing on the butt stock is cal,ed a Cresent Butt Plate.... the other feature which separates the rifle from the carbine is the forearm cap instead of a barrel band found on the carbine...nice well fitted qua,ity firearm... worth the price you paid...!!

Makes a great eastern deer rifle. 357 is no joke. Brother of mine killed a couple nice bucks with his carbine. The biggest problem I have with Miroku, is that they make one profile barrel for all calibers. That applies to Brownings as well here. If you have an 1892 for example, you get the 44 mag profile even if you have a 357. Essentially the smaller the caliber, the heavier it is.

Not sure if you covered this in your video, Miroku made a design tweak to the brass lifter to eject to the right of the operator.
If you skim to the 6:00-6:05 time stamp you’ll see the cut-away on the top right of the brass lifter, genius.

I have the same rifle. I'd recommend using Renaissance Wax to protect the finish. Works great on wood and keeps the bluing dark and free of rust

Thanks, I have the same rifle, but from Taylor and Company and tried the renaissance wax after seeing your comment-it worked great. I never knew wax on guns could be used and now I use it on all my blued guns, and notice it really brings back to life the finish on both the stock and all the blued parts.

Are you kidding? It is an excellent defensive gun. You have 10+1 capacity which is easy to top up while still in battery. It is chambered in the premier defense caliber and even shooting 38 special you get the ballistics of a 357 from a handgun.

Your groups are due to the ammo. If you know anyone that reloads ask them to build you some 357 using rifle reload data. The rifle data requires slow burning powder - which makes all the difference in the world regarding accuracy.

Wonderful detailed video. I just scored one on Gunbroker, in color case hardened! Pick it up Sunday only an hour from my house

Nice detailed review. I knew an 80 year old guy that had an original from the 1900s and every year he would take it up into the Olympic mountain range, shoot a deer and carry it out.

If it was an octagon, it would be a RARE find!

In my opinion, if it’s not an original caliber, it’s not authentic to the original rifle. Of course that means hand loading 44-40, 38-40, or 32-20. In the old days they would special order the sporting rifle with a short octagon barrel because the off the shelf carbine only came with a round barrel.

It would be good in the woods for deer hunting . As long as your shots were within 70 yards .

Coming in a year later, but doesn't the model X have a thick rubber recoil pad? Might have just a little to do with the recoil feeling reduced...

Miroku is licensed to reproduce the 1873 by design under license by Winchester Repeating Arms unlike
    A. Uberti, Italy which is NOT licensed to reproduce the 1873 Winchester.

      @cs-rj8ru ปีที่แล้ว +4

Friend you lack understanding. A "license" would only apply to the use of the name Winchester. The patents are long run out. I could make this rifle in my garage if I so desired, so long as I didn't mark them Winchester. Uberti's are actually make more correctly to the original design than Mirokus.

I've been a firearms dealer for 20 years and have been shooting and collecting guns for 50 years so I want to say to you before you start trying to tell people about the Winchester rifle you have in front of you first you need to know more about the rifle the shell lifter is brass not copper and the wood on your Winchester is black walnut come on guy learn more about your firearms before making your next video.

    Defensive gun???
Search “Costa Ludas”l ever-action as a defensive rifle, the lever-action is a very formidable defensive gun (maybe not the best) but if strategically trained in this platform yes!
Ask yourself why do people rely on revolvers and manual actions?
    Because it’s Dependable period.

Wrong, I've had both and out of the box, the Miroku is way ahead of Uberti's in fit and finish. However a good gunsmith can make the Uberti the way it should be. I have a Browning BLR in .308 and it's made by Miroku as well and is a beautiful rifle.
