I think the reason people like Lyn other than dodge-tanking creating an attachment fear of losing her and *ahem* aesthetic reasons, is that she comes with a 45 use effective damage killing edge.
Yeah, I like speed-based characters, so she's always been a favorite, plus I've actually had more luck with her in my games than someone like Hector (he tends to die a lot for me, while she dodges entire maps of enemies). Plus, she's the first Fire Emblem character I ever met (outside of Smash Bros), and I really enjoy her character. Sadly, their are people who only like her for 'aesthetic' reasons... 🙄
Of course she did. Honestly, he could defeat some of them by waiting instead of attacking, thus removing the risk of being hurt twice in a single turn.
I think this video perfectly summarizes the appeal and drawbacks that Lyn have as unity. Her strength, defense, hp and res are all incredible lacking unless she is blessed so you will be relying a lot on dodges due to her high skill and speed. The ManiKatti with the effective damage and high crit are an attempt to fix her flaws but without the effective damage Lyn has to always relying on luck(be dodges or crits) to kill her opponents and survive combat. But her stylish animations(specifically her crit animation) just incentive you to gamble more with her, so people that get lucky with her(as the video show) have an amazing time with her but the ones that get unlucky basically hate her to death 😅
@@jamestdfm I'd love a Promoted Unit gauntlet. :D And trying out Seth as well, considering he's one of the most broken Units you can get that is not the automatic win-button in the last chapter.
Tbf, the triple effectiveness is entirely intended too. As far as I know, JP FE7 goes by the same rules as FE8 does everywhere, with triple effectiveness for normal weapons and double for legendaries.
We all know who I'm gonna call for next. And I know I'm the only one doing it, but some things need to be done. Let's get level 20 Knight Wallace in the gauntlet!
Hector is the mascot icon and showed Lyn. Next videos will test Florina and Farina to see which of Hector's potential wives win? Though I imagine they'll both struggle with archers having effective damage (maybe give them the Delphi Shield as a prf run?)
Yes, as always, requesting Florina too! But I'd be just as happy to see Farina instead, or triple-happy to see the three swarm in for a triangle attack or something silly. (Earlier, he said a delphi shield felt unfair as it's a real drawback fliers live with, but that it would make sense to move the archers to the very end for them.)
Eliwood will likely do worst than Lyn, due to being somewhat of a middle point between Hector's absurb strength and tankiness, and Lyn's speed and dodging. So he generally ends up in 'jack of all, master of none' position. He is slightly better when promoted, but still. Hector being the mascot icon though? He's usually shoved kinda to the back, like you have to UNLOCK his story in FE7 by doing Eliwood's story first.
Have you considered trying out a promoted gauntlet? Obviously you did fighter and pirate for Ross, but I mean actual promotions. Increased stat caps and a longer stretch of enemies to get through could be fun.
Honestly, you can defeat it by simply waiting instead of attacking. If he does hurt her, use vulnerary next turn, if not, finish him off. Either way, he will be dead after 2 rounds.

I think Lyn will do good, but she won't do as well as Hector, she'll REALLY struggle against the Knight in particular, if she gets that far. She'll do better with the Mani Katti, if she gets to the knight, she'll take them down no issue with that, but with an Iron Sword... But yeah, she's squishy, relies on dodging and doubling to really do much, as opposed to Hector, who'll just tank hits to the face and hit back hard. And yeah, I don't think giving her a Steel Sword would have done too much, since it would have slowed her down, and if you slow down a unit whose main strength is speed... Giving her the Mani Katti is a different story, of course, it's the best Prf weapons in the game... one of the ones you basically start with, at least, let's just ignore that she doesn't start with it in her own story XP Kinda makes you wonder why games like FEH and Warriors make her use the Sol Katti instead. Also makes me realise how... not-average my Lyns tend to turn out. My pre-premotion Lyns usually end up hitting the speed and skill cap, and usually have more def and res (usually around 8) and less strength (around 9-10), and a bit more luck (around 18). I think it is really funny that even with the incredible luck in the second run if the Mani Katt had correct stats she would have ended at the cav leaving her in last place, placing five spots behind roy. Lyn truly is a unit of all time.
I haven't played much of this game, but it sounds like most of the issues with Lyn come from the fact the bonus damage has been reduced from x3 to x2 in the localization. (yes "strongest" includes hardmodehector, she can get comparable strength but he can _not_ get comparable speed or evasion even with the bonus to his statgrowth, he is better overall and FAR more reliably good but for highroll vs highroll highroll hectors don't actually get as broken as highroll Lynn because he can't cap speed and axes are slow so he can't abuse the stupid amount of difference a high strength stat makes anywhere _near_ as well)

Naww, fanks
Her sword is great. Also is it not standard practice to play Lyn on Hard before doing Hector since he starts on a later chapter?
You can get a free Knight's Crest out of it
Most people skip it, but the option's there if that's what you wanna do :)
Personally, I do not know how you stand on the matter but I think it could be interesting to throw some of the FE8 units up to bat that you can only get from tower like Lyon, Selena, Orson, or others.
I think it could introduce a fun perspective. Though if you are only focusing on fe6, and fe7, I wouldn't mind seeing how Raven or Karla perform
Eventually we'll do no non-vanilla/playable characters, but we'll got through a lot more of the normal units first
I'd like to see how everyone's favorite/least favorite Est unit does... How about a Nino run?
Ephraim for sure, if you're doing modded lords I'd like to see if Alm from Echoes does well.
I’m predicting 6 wins for base, 9 for promoted. Let’s see.
Edit: Was not expecting that. Mani Katti is really good.
Yeah she did well!
That's actually abiit right for her, I'm not really surprised.
She's a pretty decent unit. Not great but fair from bad.
Maybe unpromoted Rutger for the Gauntlet? Put his brokenness to the ultimate test. Maybe an iron sword run and a killing edge/Wo Dao run?
Have you thought about doing a Lord skirmish video, or would it be borin because of weapon triangle?
Maybe eventually 👀
@@BadAtFireEmblem would love to see it. Keep up the great content!
I'd like to see a Fa/Fae run, my fluffy dragon child
I wanna see Dorcas run the gauntlet next!
I honestly thought more people would suggest him cos he's such a meme
@@BadAtFireEmblem I think the meme kinda died sadly
Up next should be the one and only Lance user Ephraim. He doesn't pick fights he can't win
