I just made fried chicken today! I marinated mine overnight in 3 cups buttermilk and 1 cup of pickle juice and 1/2 cup of hot sauce. It turned out fantastic!! Yes on the air fryer recipes please.😁😁

Yes to the air fryer recipes and maybe some instant pot recipes as well. My Greek friend gave me one a copper pepper grinder many years ago. She said everyone good Greek household MUST have one. I think of her every time I use it--which is every day.
This reminds me so much of my late grandma Ruth's fried chicken. She lived in Louisiana and whenever we would visit from Dallas she would make her fried chicken it was my favorite thing she cooked. Thanks for the recipe John!

I usually bake my chicken ahead of time before frying it. I'll season the meat itself, cook it to near doneness (usually 140-150), pull it out of the oven and let it come back to room temp. When I'm ready to fry, I'll coat it and dredge it as normal and then deep fry until I get the color I want. At that point, you're not worrying about doneness, only color and crunch and I have never had an issue with the chicken being dry or overcooked.
After months of watching and watching and re watching this video--I finally made it. And….it was AWESOME !!! Thank you ! I found the perfect temp was 340 all the way. The leftovers were even better 😊
I feel exactly the same... it's as pleasant as fingernails on a chalkboard....!!! There's also a feeling of *shuddering* in the chest as you come into contact with it...!!!
Given John's immaculately designed and organized kitchen, I'm not sure why I was SHOOK by the refrigerator door matching the cabinets, but there you go.

My favorite pieces are thighs, legs, and wings. To be able to Cook my chicken out at the same time I normally cut my chicken breast in half so that I'll be the same size. I learned a really cool trick washing Thomas Joseph over at cooking conundrums. At the bottom of a Dutch oven he placed a round wire rack so that the chicken isn't resting on the bottom and won't burn. That was one of the coolest tricks because I'm always burning the chicken and my family hates that. I love how you measure the hot sauce I just throw as much as possible 😂😂

Made some today along with speckled butter beans with ham drippings, rice and brown gravy, home made biscuits with butter and jelly, some ice cold sweet tea and banana pudding for dessert!

Omg! The Shake & Bake “and I helupped” 😂 I’m 61 so, yes, I remember it well but, HOW on earth do you remember it?! You’re like 30! I can’t stand spicy hot foods but, now, I’m going to try this since YOU said it’s not spicy! I should’ve realized the buttermilk would pretty much neutralize the “heat”! I always double dredge but, I re-dip it & then dredge. Try adding smoked paprika too, amazing! Thank you for all you do to teach us old dogs new tricks! ❤❤
I put corn starch on my leather latigos & straps on my saddles. It makes it smoother & easier to tighten my cinch. Leather gets dried out and sticks without it.
I am definitely going to use this recipe! My husband will think he’s died and gone to Heaven. He loves fried chicken. I would love to see the air fryer version. I just bought another air fryer with the glass door and a rotisserie and a light. Sometimes I like to take a peek at what I’m cooking and it has turned out to be great!

That Shake N Bake commercial was from the sixties. I remember seeing it when I was a child. I would LOVE to see an air fryer version of this recipe.
Air Fry version is super awesome if you get it right, you will never go back to deep fried chicken. This air fryer chicken I do once a week.

Since last month when you put the recipe hear, I've done it at list once a week. It's sooo good, my all family loves it.
I make this too but add curry powder it's really good, after frying I put it in a 350 oven for 10 to 15 with a sprinkle of garlic powder yum

I like the feel of corn starch. It is so smooth and silky. In fact, as I am allergic to any after shower powder, I use corn starch.
