I have to say, as much as love hunting and fishing vids, the conservation ones really mean a lot. This is the stuff that really matters. Great work guys.
Hunters get bad rap but I feel hunting is also a huge part of conservation as means to make certain the right amount of species have the available food as too many can place a huge stress on the food supply. Years ago, when wolfs were extinct from Yellowstone, the elk over populated and the grass lands suffer and so did the Bison and others. Plus eating what you hunt has a whole new meaning to real nutrition.
I agree. The production value is incredbile. Cal's podcast is silly and childish -- I would never expect these episodes to be so professional. I could see this being trimmed into a 3 minute video and released by National Geographic. Go Cal!
imagine trying to sign in bear language that because i dont think they can even fathom what they went through lol like .. food, ..boom.. humans arhgdfsjgfdgfdlkgkfd bearrrrr
The frontal picture of that last bear while in the cage...was breath taking. What an absolute magnificent animal. His claws looked to be 4-5 inches. Impressive
This video is so much more important than 99.5% of conservationist TH-cam vids I’ve ever seen. Even people who don’t concern themselves with the outdoors should see this. Great job! Cal and the rest of the Meateater crew are the best thing to happen to conservationists since Teddy Roosevelt.
It is amazing how we know these animals are dangerous, however we take care of them. Thanks Cal and Meat Eater for always having these amazing productions to help us see conservation at its best. Thank you again!
Just got a phone call from our son, “ Matt Pickelsimer”, in NC. He discovered the video early this AM before work. We are proud to see Jeremy Nicholson appearing on this, “Meat Eater”, “Cals Week in Review”, episode. Jeremy is a local to Fannin County, GA! We are very excited for him! Great Job Jeremy! There is video out there of someone releasing a griz from a trap and said person was on top of the trap. The bear didn’t take kindly to him being there.
@@fireguymel Have to look that one up. Saw a video of game wardens releasing a "little" calf moose that wasn't too happy. Attacked the warden, came back a 2nd time striking at him. It was hilarious. I love seeing stuff filmed so close to home. I also hate it, draws so many people into our hidden gems. With that said, what Meateater, Steve and Cal do for the sport/livelihood of hunting, is simply profound and incredible.
Doing that would be one of the highlights of most people's life. It has to be a thrill being as close as these people get to one of the greatest living things on Earth. These people do a great service to wildlife.

This was the best MeatEater video so far! I have always loved Ryan’s conservation first mindset and love the non-hunting content. Would love to see more conservation-focused videos like this in the future.
Great Job, Ole Cal. My daughters loved this, too. Kind of opened their eyes to some of the jobs available to those who dont want to spend all their work hours in an office!

I love meat eater, and this is hands down my favorite episode bar none. Hunting is fascinating to watch, being shown the active efforts we are engaged in to maintain the wild of our planet is even cooler.
Guys, this was simply wholesome, honest, and just plain good. As a fellow outdoorsman it reminded me of the connection and respect we should have for outdoors and all that belong to it. Excellent job, and thank you !
Passed through Island Park from Dubois (back road to Yellowstone) and it was one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. The mountains north, the water, the agriculture, the wildlife, all were just amazing. Great video! Cal at back of trap, bear blinking? Had to pass his head to get out? Craaazyyyyy!
My story, I trapped in 80s heyday of prices being great, hunted coons, trapping here in Northern Indiana, some I loved to do as young man, had three daughters and the oldest one asked me if we could trap coyotes, coyotes wasn’t in this part of the world in my days, with some debating with my daughter, I said yes. So I got to do something that I dearly loved with my daughters. It’s good to see this kind of conservation. Knowing that there are part of this country is still wild, give thanks to these folks that do this, plus the people who have to live with these bears.

It’s great that you guys are showing conservation in action and explaining to people that don’t know how important hunting is to a successful conservation plan
This is way more work than I thought it was lol. Also an observation I made was that the truck has a cracked windshield, which confirms my theory that all gm vehicles have shit windshields lol
So awesome- Nothing like being close to a grizzly, and unforgettable experience. I hope and "prey" we preserve them for all generations to come, through management, and hunting....
