What a great lesson to us all, when we complain that we don’t know what to paint or that we're not inspired! ( I say it often). Light is the secret, thank you Michael !
I could watch you work all day! Masterful brushwork and infusing LIGHT; layers of wet and dry brush, and tasty, tasty shadows! Thank you, Sir. Your kindness in sharing your Art with good humor is such a blessing!
I love this! I take photos of peeling paint, the layers and colors are amazing! It's all in how you see objects. Old weather worn doors, graffiti, interesting tree roots. Sometimes just a closeup of something is eye opening. I would have no problem hanging this on my wall.
Whoever says watercolour paintings are boring have not seen your work Sir ! You have turned something nobody hardly notices into a beautiful work of art ! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us . I truly appreciate your work . Warmest regards Lorraine 👏🤗
I can't believe you painted a garbage can. :) And it came out beautiful. I find myself seeing beauty and inspiration in the simplest things these days. I'm seeing through different eyes. I have to smile, because I owe that to your painting tutorials. I feel like painting all the time. Thank you. P.S. Thanks for the tip on expressing brick.
Es evidente que el motivo que inspira una pintura puede estar en los objetos más simples, esos que vemos a diario y no les prestamos atención. ¡Qué buen trabajo Michael!! Admiro tu soltura y cómo destacas las luces y las sombras . GRACIAS !!!!
amazing! Thank you so much for sharing of your time and amazing talent. What a beautiful truth regarding light turning everything into a beautiful picture... Thank you
When I see more of your work, I still am confused you were IN a workshop in Fabriano - where we met - and you were not given a workshop! Nice one, Michael! A question though: you sprinkle your paper, and not really taking care where (as it looks to me). How can you do negative painting with your first brushstroke, and there is no dripping in in the trashcan? (hope my question is clear)
Hi Agnes, thanks for the question! I hope I understand what you asked. I sprinkled water on the paper quite a bit. Therefore, the paint did not run. If I used more spray, the paint would spread everywhere. It's a matter of balance. Yes, I did a demo in Fabriano a few years ago!! I will definitely return there as soon as the festival reopens. I love this festival!!
I think Saunders Waterford is a great paper! I have been recently using Saunders Waterford Rough 300 gsm for my watercolors - absolutely awesome. It dries so slowly, which gives me more opportunities to create!
I can't believe how a garbage can can be so beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing your talent and skills for everyone. Really appreciated....
Thanks so much, Alice! The beauty is hiding in plain sight :) It is up to us to notice it
