It's so loose at the same time so unified....the highlights are defining the forms for the urban skyline.....and the shadows give the necessary platform to rest our eyes upon...to enjoy the skyline...superb....👌
Haha. When somebody is good at something they make it look easy. He is well practiced in controlling his washes and dilution of pigment to get the paint to do what he wants-not easy!
Thank you again for the AMAZING tutorial. I GREATLY APPRECIATE the fact that you don’t speed up the video to show us exactly what you are doing, which helps us learn. I see the list of colors on your description, but what specific colors did you use in this painting please?

Interesting concept for this tutorial. Are you saying the shadows are more important in painting? Granted, they do add depth and character - but only in contrast to the light.
Thanks for the question, Darnelle! First of all, the reason we are able to see anything at all in the first place is light. In watercolor, the light is present and presumed - it is the very white paper that is it utmost expression. But the only way we we can express it is by drawing our negative spaces, or shadows. So drawing shadows is basically the only thing we do in watercolor.
Muchas gracias, Patricio!

Halfway thorough the first wash and it already looks better than anything I've done in 6 months
Thanks, Jack! Don't despair - practice makes perfect! We are all on a lifelong learning path, after all :)

Grazie!
Beautiful! Can you show the reference photo or image while you paint? It would be helpful to those we’re learning. Thank you.
Dear Victoria! You can actually see the reference image for it at 0:25 :)
Thanks for sharing Michael. Do you sell your large brushes? If so, please provide details
Dear Alaudin,
Yes, I do sell them! You can purchase them here:

Your art is so beautiful. Also, a very surprising finish!! Your look alike, only much younger. 👍🙂
Haha, thanks! He is a mini-me, and also likes arts already!

Great. You’ve also made me rediscover Indigo. Can’t do without it now! Wonderful colour. By the way, that’s your son, right ? 😊
Thanks, Barbara! Glad I was helpful with that rediscovery!
Yeah, that is my son :)

Love the tutorials, one thing, could you please credit the fabulous music that you use to accompany
Hi Malcolm, don't know what the music is, I am taking it from youtube standard library to avoid copyright claims.
@@watercoloronlinemsolovyev Oh thank you Michael, yes of course never realised that. Good choice anyway.
