Watching this series kinda makes me wish I got into woodworking over metalworking, especially as I've gotten more and more into playing my bass.
Excellent series nonetheless, and the bass looks proper gorgeous.

It was so enjoyable seeing the journey making that bass, seeing the little things behind the scenes, seeing what can potentially happen making a bass like that, and just feeling like your a part of the journey.
I would love to see you make another bass again because this was just so fun watching, and really fun learning how make really nice bass like what you have done. I hope to see another bass in the future.

Loved this series! Project I would love to see: hand tool box/display case of some sorts! I notice you are lacking on those and have lots of your tools at random in your big red tool box (dare I say drill bits?). I am sure lots of us who follow your channel are beginning to collect hand tools, and now realize we do not have proper tool storage. How about making some nice display cases that are also good tool boxes? You need em, we need em, and they are a good way to learn some skills by good old repetitive practice! Make em smart and modular and you got us hooked! Just sayin... and thanks again, you rock!

Fabulous guitar! Bottom or lower strings are near your head, top or upper strings are tword your feet, up the neck is tword the bridge ,down the neck tword the nut. Directions on an instrument are in relation to pitch, not actual physical direction, believe it or not. God, I've got to finish my guitar build! thanks!

I just finished binge watching all the vids.
I am really curious as to what a build like this is worth (if purchased retail).
I mean, priceless of course. But I was trying to work out how many hours it took to build, parts etc. If 50 hours of work was done (guessing) at 50 bucks per hour, add in markup and parts etc. My guess is this guitar is worth around 7,000 or there abouts?
    How's my guess? ...too high/too low 🤔?

Man I've literally binge watched the whole series as I'm planning to build myself a 6 strings bass guitar as well. It is now 6 am and I should definitely go to sleep, but i regret nothing, your videos are so well done, your tools and machinery seem to be absolute top quality and your knowledge and skills are quite impressive !
That was very instructive and useful for my future build as you really showed us every bit of work you did on this, so we get a very good overall feel of what needs to be done and the amount of work it demands. Great job at making both a great instrument AND a great videos about it, as I know very well the difficulties of both these jobs ! btw are you doing all this by yourself ?
Also if you have any vague idea of how many hours you spent on the build (entire workshop time including dealing with the machines, tools, templates, gigs, etc...), I'd love to know !
Thanks a lot, amazing job, will definitely subscribe to all your things !
Keep up the good work man !

But with the series overall, I loved seeing your obstacles and the thought process as you overcame them. Congratulations on a beautiful result. I’m not a guitar player but I’ve enjoyed following along.
Two suggestions for the next project: one related, a case worthy of your guitar; or maybe something totally different, a grandfather clock.

    Hello matt!
For a man of your age, you show good maturity with your work and use of machines. Thanks for your video.
From the data you have assimilated could you let me know the following for both 5 and 6 string bass guitars, using a single truss rod with a maple or composite neck:
    1. Minimum thickness or depth at nut or 1st fret.
    2. Minimum thickness or depth of at 12th fret, or the usual specified.
You are absolved from any blunders I could commit using this info.
I am a senior citizen and want to build my own but can't find this info quickly.
This concerns playability and integrity of the neck.
Wish you the best and do it your way.
    Thanks!

wow so much work. Was it the craziest project you've ever worked on? Everyone who's following is hoping that you're really happy with it! Great job, great video. Easily beats any Bosch commercial I've seen

    Just, wow!!
Just finished watching the entire series, only stopping to get subscribed to the channel 😄👍 Only one thing missing though. What about a strap? You will need that for gigging. 🙂

Just watched this whole series and literally so in love with that bass..... not sure if you still check comments on here but if so one quick question. I'm a knife maker and so dont have lots of the bigger equipment (in particular I'm thinking about the planer thicknesser).... do you think it's possible to hand plane the long neck pieces flat? Or is it just not worth attempting??

I just binged the whole series in two days. I started getting mad about the 6th video in. I was down right looking for blood abound the 14th. I kept thinking to myself,"is he even worried about intonation?" However, two videos back when you started curving the neck and shaping the body, it came alive. I finally saw your dream. I don't mean this to sound negative because it isn't, but while it is obvious you know your way around a piece of wood, you made being a luthier look hard. These guys over at crimson guitars make it look like any one can whip out a master piece. You made it fun and awesome but I'd never try that in a million years.

Really enjoy the part you built it, but IMO when it comes to the sound it's kind of distorted and not so comfortable to my ear. BTW I'm a 6 string user and good luck with your 6 strings!

i just watched all of these non-stop. You did a fantastic job putting this together, the hiccups have really given me some lessons learned and you really convinced me on importance of hand-tooling a lot in this process. Wow! Just really grateful you did this. I intend on this being my profession later in life and will hopefully have this at the ready while I am trying to define a process. Thank you.
