  • You simply must see this hunt to believe it! A brutal climb in was rewarded when an entire flock of turkeys come to the call across vertical, rugged terrain. An incredible day in the spring mountains! #PinhotiProject #TurkeyHunting #Hunting

    This exchange of turkey talk is exactly why reading the birds is so important. Everyone says "you call too much" but that hen there shows you sometimes there's no such thing... Great video and series Dave

    Thanks for being the real deal Dave. Your reverence and appreciation for these birds is a breath of fresh air with all the trophy hunting, media hyped competition in the hunting world where if you don't have blind and 3 four wheelers you're not doing it right. I'm a traditionalist back against a tree kind of turkey hunter and I like you savor the moment after a kill or even after a good hunt. Should be part of hunter safety courses. And oh yeah my heart was pounding when he gobbled behind that boulder!! Great video can't wait for fresh ones!

    Dave I'm starting to amass quite a list of quotes/one liners from your collection of after the hunt smoke side chats. Today there's two that made me chuckle a bit. "If I'd a smoked this at the bottom I probably wouldna made it up here, but luckily we're on top so I can smoke it and roll down" & "You don't short change no turkey" 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

    Incredible hunt, Dave. Nothing subpar about the gun barrel video. Had a similar hunt this year at noon time. Had the whole flock on the creek bank. Hens and gobbler flew back and forth over the creek twice trying to find us in the canes on the bank. 4 jakes gobbling like mad at an airplane doing stunts over us. lol. My son was going to have to shoot left handed so he just let him go. We toyed with them a while longer. Your videos take me back to the enjoyment of April. I sure like watching REAL turkey hunting. Thanks again for doing it right.

    You are blessed, our eastern turkeys here in east Texas have died out almost entirely between the hogs and timber harvesting there's no hope. There are pockets left scattered across the Piney Woods but very few, most counties have shut the seasons down completely. I'm Forced to travel out to hunt them. It's sickening compared to what we use to have. Use to there where turkeys everywhere I would call in numerous turkeys listen to them gobble on the river from my back door hadn't heard one gobble in 2 years here.
    Edited this to add that your hunts are the best out there real hunting on public land thank you for the videos.

    Great hunt, love your persistence once you get on a bird. Never give up on him. I've always been told that you can over call a bird. All birds are different. I've over called at times and under called. Depends on how he's reacting depends on my calling style. Great job

    Awsome hunt. Never predict the coarse a turkey will come to u. Track his gobbling and if he does not then just get ready cause no telling where he will show up.

  • @Scott-Witter
    @Scott-Witter 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    When they returned I was a little surprised to see the Gobbler leading the charge, usually those dang jakes come first then you have 4 sets of eyes and hard to get on the gobbler when he finally shows. I suspect from the video that those boulders had a role role in the death of this bird. Dave, no need to apologize for the video, you are a hunter not a cinema-photographer. Glad ya got-em.

    • @pinhotiproject
      @pinhotiproject  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great hunt! Sure is nice watching all your hunts in the off season. You are not only a champion caller but also a champion turkey hunter (two very different skills)!!!!! I think all of your TH-cam fans need to put together a drive to buy you a nice big old four wheeler...lol. Never say never......you are very young now but there may be a day when you might have to use a four wheeler. I'm almost old enough to be considering an electric wheelchair to hunt turkeys.......enjoy it while you're young. I've been chasing turkeys for over 60 years. I hope you get to enjoy it as much and as long as I have. Congratulations on both feats!!!

    • @pinhotiproject
      @pinhotiproject  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You're right! I hope I'm still at it in another 30 or 40 years. I can't promise my attitude will change on four wheelers though. If folks would use them responsibly it would be a different story, I can't find a place where they use them responsibly.

    • @patspangler2351
      @patspangler2351 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pinhotiproject Yeah, I've had more than my fair share of turkeys chased off by four-wheeler users.

    • @ShawnNichols79
      @ShawnNichols79 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dave I use a 4 wheeler when I take my dad with me because he can’t get up these Jackson County Alabama mountains anymore but when I do, I turn the 4 wheeler of and only use the headlights for vision. It’s really rough on the breaks and I have to replace them every 2 years but it’s worth it
