That is the most frustrating thing about Merriams that makes them the hardest turkey to hunt but boy can it be fun/frustrating. They gobble their heads off to make you think you're still in the game but if you ain't in front of them, you're not. And with the terrain they cover and how quick they traverse it, it is so incredibly difficult to get in front of them suckers. Took me 3 different seasons to get mine in Nebraska and 2 years to get my black hills of SD Merriams being right on top of birds day after day for x3 weeks each one of those trips. And it's so hard to predict where they wanna go cuz they'll change it up on you day to day. Heading from Michigan to Colorado and Wyoming after em this year and boy do I need to start my cardio training for that trip.

Three more weeks till I head "home" to SC from WY to chase turkeys and catch fish. Y'all make this cold, crawling, pre-spring period pass faster, so thanks for the vids. That said, this vid took some time off my life while I cringed and crawled under the coffee table with that muzzle pointing at your buds face as he smacked down on the barrel...I know it was unloaded, but it still gave me the heebie-jeebies. Looking forward to bumping into you one day out here in Wyoming.

I refrain from sharing information any more specific than the state. But the truth is, I’ve hunted from corner to corner of the country and had experiences like these. No where I wouldn’t visit again.
Thanks for replying to me. I understand. One more question . .. have you ever had any bear encounters in the states they have populations. Or any other dangerous animals , mountain lions, wolverines, badgers , wolves etc?? Maybe doing a episode suggested by a turkey hunter of 30 yrs from El Paso, Tx showing footage or sharing your thoughts in one of your videos. Keep up the great hunts n stay safe ..YA HEAR.
@@damianiwannaski4876 Sure. I've encountered bears, mountain lions, panthers in Florida. . . lots of fun stuff. Never a wolf. Found their tracks and heard them, but never lucky enough to lay eyes on one.

@@Wookie1122, no sir, gun safety is up to all of us, especially a public figure. I've called out hunting buddies, and they've called me out over the years for poor gun handling. Lots of young hunters look up to this guy. He needs to do better.

As for kids, they should be old enuf or smart enuf to watch this mans vids while following proper gun safety they have been taught by the parent.
If not their probably not old or smart enuf to have a smartphone or be on TH-cam in the first place. Either way, it’s a parenting problem. Not something that can be fixed in the comments of a really good Turkey vid I just wanted to chill and enjoy after another long day at work. SMH 😂
