  • Ferodo DS2500 are finally on! A quick DIY video for people who would like to change their pads. Definitely a nice upgrade from stock pads and considering how long they will last, it's worth to spend a little bit more.
    They give more confidence during spirited driving so another modification which make my car just a bit better!
    Check our wgmotorparts.co.uk/ which had these pads cheaper then anyone else.

    👍 I put EBC Red stuff on my M135i, very happy with them .

      I was thinking about ebc but after trying Ferodo it was no brainer

    It seems the ferodos are the popular choice for pads, think mine will be due soon been on 30k miles. Good informative video 👍

      Ryan Ward thanks. I think they are great alternative. It’s a nice upgrade. The only downside I forgot to mention is that they produce more dust so wheels need to be cleaned but more often.

      @@MDrives A small price to pay for better breaking haha!

      @@MDrives If you take the wheels off, clean both sides fully and either use a good polish or even ceramic coating it really helps too.

    Watched the video again ❤️ as I’m looking for replacement pads for my 140, what’s your opinion of them now and also do they make a noise when cold.

    • @MDrives
      @MDrives  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are really good and definitely better than stock. One of them made a squeaking noise at very low speed for the first month but I heard it maybe 20 times in total so very rarely. Then it stopped completely after a month or so.

    Hey ! Thank you very much for the video, I agree with the feel of the brake. Good brake, they are not fading away on track, but the initial bite is indeed too low + the feel of the pedal is bad... Anyway, I have one quick question : how do you deal with the sensor and the re-initialisation of the idrive warning ? Can you re-initialize the idrive warning about replacing the pads without changing the sensor ? Best wishes ! Cheers.

    • @MDrives
      @MDrives  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can simply reset it in your idrive.

    Hi, good review 👍.
    My personal usage is only road and never track. I'm thinking to upgrade for better than the currently installed Ebc yellowstuff. I brake not often but when I brake I need that it brakes hard.
    So based on my usage, I really need a strong bite especially when the brakes are still cold. Do you think that ds2500 would be suitable for me?
    Many thanks 👍

      Ds2500 have great bite but might not be the best for the first few minutes.

      @@MDrives OK thank you for your answer 👍. I'm thinking about the situation where I'm driving in the highway without hitting the brakes for a long period of time. But, if for some reason, an emergency situation requires braking hard wheras the brakes are cold, that would be a problem.

    How did you update I drive the new brakes

      Just search it on TH-cam. You can reset it yourself.

    Do you not have to swop over pad weights from old pads

    • @MDrives
      @MDrives  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      andrew branford No. They work absolutely fine without them. Most of the cars don’t use pad weights.

    • @Magic_Vince
      @Magic_Vince 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      but you could swop them over to the Ferodo pad?

    • @Sirodjw
      @Sirodjw 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Magic_Vince I'm in the process of fitting ds2500's to mine too...my brake guy was surprised they didn't come with those weights pre installed. They look to me like they are pressed on,so I don't think you can swap them over to new pads. He seems to think they were there for noise / harmonics reasons and didn't think it would be an issue. Likewise, I asked if the stainless brembo shims should be swapped over but he didn't think so...they look to be adhered to the oem pads, in addition to the backing the new ones have.

    My breaks are really good on stock pads and feeling. I do think the wear on the pads were somthing to do with the feel!

    The pins go out from the front... Punch from the back. You made it much much harder for yourself. Tip for others watching.
