Marc Ribot is also well known for being a guitarist for John Zorn in several of his bands, most notably Electric Masada. I love Annie Clark, and this was a wonderful interview, thank you, kind sir.
@ For me women saved music this year and Annie Clark was at the forefront. In her almost 20 years in the game she’s never made a bad album, quite the opposite actually. Homegirl is incapable of being mediocre ☺️
You are SUCH a great interviewer, my god. Your presentness and your enthusiasm is so palpable - this is exactly the kind of conversation that transcends a simple Q&A. Great stuff!
I love that Annie feels that way about sports! It's so spot on and one of the many reasons why basketball and music are 2 of my favorite things in life. Cause it's of the body and the present. Ugh! No wonder she's my favorite!
As a big fan of the Fender Bass VI I was appreciative of Ms. Clark's insistence that it is very much not a baritone, haha. (Tuned a full octave down from a guitar - same range as a 4-string bass but with 2 high strings)
Weirdly enough there is actually a lot of BassVI on The Beatles stuff usually on songs where paul plays piano, John will take over on BassVI you can hear it clearly on 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'.
Julia is such a beautiful song. Derrick have you heard the Medeski, Martin, Wood and Scofield version. Instrumental but they do something special with it

How in the hell did you score an interview with her????!
I loved this chat there was such good chemistry
I’m glad Annie mentioned Portishead when discussing “Violent Times” because that song screams them
…with a sprinkle of Garbage ☺️

The vibes of this one are just right.
That was a wonderful interview because it was an authentic conversation between two music nerds just nerding out about music. ❤
Thank you for talking about Tom Waits.
yessss, rain dogs is such a brilliant album, I feel like people dont talk about it enough

These endless interviews on tour must be exhausting but unlike so many she seems to bring sincerity and patience to each one. Just like her music.
I agree with that. I’ve watched plenty of hers and she’s always very giving.
god i love her she’s so cool
DG you're curiosity is awe inspiring !!!!!
I love clap hands so much I had the exact same reactions as her listening to the song haha
I too just heard bone machine for the first time. Sent me into a Waits frenzy

This was truly wonderful, I have sampled Annie quite a bit, not her music, always her in conversation. I may Rob something from this. 😊
this is so cool dude! huge fan of the stuff you are doing!!
Rocking the trenchcoat and sunglasses. Incognito even in the dressing room.
That was totally not long enough, but was nonetheless fantastic.
Weirdly enough there is actually a lot of BassVI on The Beatles stuff usually on songs where paul plays piano, John will take over on BassVI you can hear it clearly on 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'.
That’s a BadsIV? No way!

hell yeah
Mark Ribot was with late period Beefheart.
On an album? I don't think so.
I heard Annie gush over loving Aqua Lung by J Tull and I felt seen.
She's cooler than normal people. She wears shades indoors.
If that’s not the epitome of cool… 😂
So unpretentious
LOL, I thought sports would be one that one exercises beyond tv watching. LOL.
She acts like a normal human.
Are the sunglasses distracting when interviewing? It feels like a barrier.
