I am so fascinated by Pamela Anderson. She's the closest our generation has for Marilyn Monroe. I do wish she had been allowed to be given more acting opportunities. She doesn't get enough credit for her comic timing.
I’ve been saying this, too! She’s our Marilyn. I want her to star in a movie in an alternate timeline where Marilyn aged out of her stardom instead of passed away.
Pam‘s experience and maturity contrasting Mikey’s innocence and naiveté is palpable here, especially when Mikey talks about not working with an intimacy coordinator and how Pam has nothing to be ashamed of when looking back at her career. It was a beautiful conversation, but you can only hope Mikey reflects on Pam‘s advice and realizes that this industry can be dangerous and exploitative and leave a scar, even if you might not notice it happening in the moment. In my option, there should’ve been an intimacy coordinator no questions asked. Knowing the history of Hollywood, it should be mandatory.
can you explain what you think an intimacy coordinator does and why two consenting adults can't possibly decide for themselves they'd rather do without one?
it’s not just about the actors/director, it’s about making sure the crew is safe and taken into consideration during vulnerable or sexually explicit scenes. This industry is riddled with stories of actresses looking back on movies they made 20/30 years ago, realizing how they didn’t understand the implications of what they were doing and how pressure heavily influenced their choices concerning nudity. Pamela OF ALL PEOPLE is one who has lived to tell the tale. This was Mikey‘s first big role, she plays a sex worker, she wanted to „get it right“. An intimacy coordinator isn’t there to take away from anything, he’s there to protect and choreograph these scenes, so crew and actors feel in control. It’s fishy to me to even have put her in a position to decide against it, she shouldn’t have been put in that position. Have you seen the movie? It’s exactly the kind of movie that requires for a young woman to have someone look out for her, regardless of the „art“ or „rawness“.
@@jennistone8740 all of this for you not to actually explain what you think a coordinator actually does. nobody denies that intimacy coordinators are important and help create a safe environment. the insane thing is people like yourself claiming that she should have been FORCED to have one on set. this is an unhinged take, she's 25 years old, she's a full grown adult who can understand what displaying sexuality in a film entails and how to properly navigate this with her costar. this kind of swerf hyper infantilizing mindset is very misogynistic. if you actually listened to what she was saying you would understand that she didnt do it to "do it right", she did it to best put herself in a sex worker's shoes. it's not about the acting feeling more authentic it's her wanting the process to mirror as much as possible what a sex worker would do. sex workers don't have intimacy coordinators. this is the same reason why she was the one to entirely choreograph the lapdance scene. it's just her way to pay respect to actual sex workers and to make the role itself feel more authentic. claiming that she should have been forced not to do it this way is offensive both to her as an artist and to sex workers who do their job everyday without hired employees monitoring everything they do.

Such and exceptional and beautiful interview. One of my favourites of these so far, I love how on the other side I got a perfect idea of who their characters are, and the emotional places and process for them to become these characters. In addition I love how both Pamela and Mikey both gave each other the floor to really express their thoughts about their own roles, because I feel like I have watched a few Actors on Actors where one actor kinda takes over the other, while here I can really see that admiration for one another.
Madison is such a mature lady despite her young age. I hope she can stay even keel as she goes along in her movie career
I am proud and happy for Pamela, and I don't even know her. But I just know, KNOW, that she is an incredible person.
What an amazing conversation. One of the best Actors on Actors I’ve seen.
I absolutely love hearing actors, artists, creatives talk. Very grateful to have access to this information it really inspires me!
the one we have been waiting for ahhhhh these women!!!!
Mikey gives a magnificent, stunning, award worthy performance. And her acting in the very last scene is truly something to behold. Just put her name on the Oscar right now.
Probably the most beautiful and important Actor on Actor there has been
wow that was a beautiful conversation, my favourit so far, and i havent watch both Movies yet
Mikey Madison is brilliant actress and she deserves all the flowers she's getting nowadays.
Honestly, this video clicked by accident and I was like “here we go again, another odd pairing” however a few more moments in, I felt the depth of these two humans and I appreciate these interviews.
I've watched a few of these conversations and these two women seem to be the most natural and authentic in the way they talk to each other. Could listen to Pamela talk all day!
These actors on actors pairings have really been hitting this year! It means so much to me to see Pamela Anderson here! Been a fan for years and it’s so incredibly moving and inspecting to see her get a chance to break the mold and remind us that life isn’t as concrete as it’s made to appear sometimes. It’s great for all of us and for her herself to bear to witness to it. Surprises can happen and that’s a great thing! Loved watching these two!
Need to see her at the Oscars!
The conversation i didnt know i need.... such a great pair....
Pamela is such an inspiration!! love her!!
When Mikey talks about wearing her sexuality like a costume Pam got this. Pam you have come full circle and I am so happy you are living your true life at last. Mikey you have a amazing road ahead of you I have not seen talent like this is years.
Mikey should definitely win the oscar she was phenomenal. Seriously wow🎉
Their voices are so soft!!! Loved listening to them
The level of wholesomeness and humility between these two is wonderful
Such a beautiful conversation. I can't wait to see The Last Showgirl. But Mikey gives the performance of the year. 2 incredible women.
I love seeing Pamela back again and doing something she really loves. This is a great pairing and conversation ❤
What a wonderful pairing 😍 really sweet and gentle people. Ive loved watching Pamela in interviews over the years but she is absolutely glowing here. She is so happy 😊
Both of these films and performances were so incredible. I can’t imagine Pam not getting this Oscar tho
This was such a great pairing! Pamela Anderson is so smart, asks great questions, and really listens. Mikey Madison has a wisdom beyond her years. It was a pleasure to listen in on their conversation and I'm excited for both their current projects.
WOW.. I just love that Pamela Anderson, and she deserves all the praise and happiness in the world! She’s so sweet and such a wealth of knowledge and experience
Damn Pam is not what I expected. Shes so chill
Her netflix documentary is si good. Made by her sons ❤
we all say variety has done a great job at pairing folks for this segment but this one is uniquely special.
What a beautiful conversation between two really talented and lovely people. I absolutely loved this episode!
Pamela, Pamela, Pamela... the definition of my adolescents... and beyond. My forever crush.
the power of Pamela. also getting The Bangles “Total Eclipse” license is 100% her
Mikey Madison. I fell in love with her from once upon a time and scream! Glad to see her advance in her career!
26:34 That makes so much sense. You can feel a shared, palpable, uncomfortability in the car. Especially in how Igor is looking at Anora as she's waiting and starts to move toward him. Wow.
Two actresses who really deserved nominations for Oscar, and hopefully one of them will win 🏆 ❤
Was so excited when this dropped and it did not disappoint!!! Pamela is everything and I hope she gets more movie roles going forward
Now I have to watch Anora. Mikey Madison as herself and then in character in the movie, WOW. What a remarkable switch.
i love mikey soo much
I am so glad they paired these two together for so many reasons, but especially because Mikey is so generous and emotionally intelligent and validating and such a perfect thoughtful person for Pamela to experience this with
I loved the conversation, they were giving each other so much kindness. Thank you Variety!
such an amazing pairing!!! both so incredibly graceful and talented in everything they do
I fell in love with them.. so gorgeous effortlessly🥹 Good luck for the rest of the awards race!!!
I know next to nothing about Pamela Anderson, but she seems like such a sweetheart.
