Good tips! I will vote for an automatic stop tonearm in one instance, on our bedroom turntable we have a cheaper old model that auto stops so we dont have to get out of bed and can go to sleep listening to one side. Otherwise, agree, lift the tonearm is not a hassle.
I have a Onkyo TX-DS898 7.1 but i use him like 2.1 channel in pure audio or Direct. Yes i connect my sub in cascade to have the sub in Direct mode. This onkyo in 2.1 are a very positive reputation. In 2001 this receiver are sold 1600 USD but i pay 60$ for that 1 year ago. I know you don't encourage to buy av receiver from this era but you are false for certain brands. I have a collections of 25 receiver, vintage, modern, some Harman Kardon from the 80's 2 channel , sony, Yamaha but the best receiver for pure quality audio that i have are the Onkyo TX-DS898. The sound are amazing Audiophile quality. I have old Mirage m390is loudspeakers connected to the receiver . Mirage make so good speakers but now the brand don't exist anymore.
i disagree to use car analogy to hifi, you see people use cars as status symbol but hifi is for your own personal enjoyment (you are not showing off to your friends and others). Plus hi end equipment doesn't equal to hifi, many hi end system sounds shrill
Many good cars are terrible to drive, especially American cars. But he misspoke when he explained his analogy, he shouldn’t of said hifi is like owning a car, it would of been more accurate to say “you can conceptualise owning hi fi by comparing it to 3 kinds of car owners” Rather than “owning hifi is like owning a car …” which is totally inaccurate, for many many many different reasons, but unfortunately most people don’t think too deeply about these things before saying them, it’s just superficial analysis and repeating it in front of your mrs, who’s only half listening anyway 😂
@@Vgallo the amt you paid for car is portportional to the performance output, but not so with hifi. It doesn't sound good it doesn't sound good, music is an art you can drive it with lots of power or drive it with tiny little power like tube amps. If you can't hear the difference between cables and interconnects might as well not be in hifi
This got philosophical quickly.
you must be new 😆
"who are you and what hifi represents your inner child" 😅
Love it! Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou
Derrick, I appreciate sharing a bit of technical insight as well as your attitude, while clearly putting the focus on HAPPINESS :) Hug!
My personal recommendation are kef 104/2 best speakers I’ve heard plentiful and so many videos of you need to work on them
Wish your long form content got the same love that your tik tok stuff does. Great stuff thank u
This was extremely helpful. Thank you.
“Buying the biggest engine with the most horse power.” Shows a picture of an electric car with no engine 😂. Great analogy though!
