Back by popular demand! I know you folks enjoy my HOI 4 playthroughs and many of you have asked for a Germany campaign. Just bear with me as I find my way around the UI again as its been a few months since my last Hearts of Iron game :D Oh and also remember I don't try to powerplay or meta-game these campaigns - I want my HOI 4 games to have a true WW2 feel and flavour to them :D
@@MarkGFLGamingReally helps im 13 and now that there’s a 70% sale. I just bought it for the first time. I’m rewatching your videos after a while to learn the game more.
This one is going to be a roller coaster ride of triumphs and errors, successes and struggles, with a host of the same actual issues that plagued Germany for real. No spoilers of course, but wait and see how it goes with the various problems I run into :D
Took me a while to get into this game (I play Stellaris more than HOI4) but it is so much fun and addictive. I usually have historical AI settings for other countries but I play my country non-historically i.e. Britain going fascist, France going communist, German civil war in 1936 or Spain joining the Axis in 1941 to name a few.
Hey, know im probably super late, though I recently bought the game and with the help of a friend who already plays I'm starting my "career"😂 After watching some tutorials I'm glad to have found some good playtrough! Thanks specially for explaining your thoughts and the decisions really helps out new people like me.
You're welcome! Hope you enjoy the series. I think it's important for me to talk through my thought process as it does help explain a pretty complex game. Also I am sometimes wrong with my thinking and then the viewers can point it out and teach me something :D
Haha I got my ass kicked when I first started playing too! Hopefully this playthrough will give you some good ideas of how to manage the germans. If you need a good tutorial series, I recommend Quill18's playlist here th-cam.com/video/q_uCwrt-LkA/w-d-xo.html
I tried to get into the game. I used this video series as a walkthrough. When I found out they changed the UI I ragequit. I guess I'll have to make do with the viewer's experience.
I think I'm going to record a new series in the not-too-distant future where I play through the stock game again, to show how it looks and works in 2024 without any of the expansions. That might be useful as a walkthrough?
I use OBS to record the whole stream and then either a second copy of OBS or Nvidia Shadowplay to record just the game footage, depending on the game I'm recording.
@@MarkGFLGaming Cheers mate! I use OBS myself- it's v good, but I don't think it can edit (ie clip the "ends" off the video, should I wish to share the video, I'm currently having trouble finding free software for that). This playthrough is really useful for learning HOI4, I've subscribed on the strength of it- it's really good quality with no faffing about!
@@johnny2f55 Try AVI Demux - its a simple but excellent tool for snipping segments of video out without having to re-render the entire file. I used it for most of these HOI videos.
They were the wrong size and not organised how I want them. As they had no accumulated experience there was nothing to lose from disbanding them and later rebuilding them with the correct size and in the right places. The planes and manpower go back into your pools when you disband aircraft and are available to use again.
Not a noob question all, quite a sensible one :) I do that at the start of all my games so the planes go back into the reserve pool and I can then build them into the size of groups where I need them. You get the manpower back too so it doesn't waste anything, and they are always untrained at the beginning of the game anyway.
@@MarkGFLGaming Yeah that make sense, I'm fairly new and it makes it much cleaner and more organised so you know exactly what you've set and have full control over what you're making
No not with all, I think I had Man The Guns, On To Victory and Hidden Tiger at the time of this series. I've picked up La Resistance and No Step Back since playing this too.
Hey Mark! Would you consider doing a new playthrough for HoI4 with the new DLC coming out, based around the Scandinavian countries? Although it isn't paticularly big, Finland does play an interesting role in WW2.
I don't currently have any plans to pick up the next expansion as I have a ton of games to play over the next couple of months. Starting with Jagged Alliance 3 (as it happens I was introduced to the JA games by my Finnish friend who came to college here) then immediately afterwards Baldurs Gate 3 and Starfield. I think they will keep me busy for months! I might try to quickly fit a China campaign in HOI though if I can.
@@MarkGFLGaming thanks for letting me know, Starfield does look interesting but I'm going to let you guys guinea pig it for me before I look to purchase ;)
@@saipanhpa6719 Honestly I'd just play the stock game for now, the DLC's do bring changes in but not always for the better, depending on taste. The expanded focus trees for different countries are usually nice additions, but they come with new game mechanics - like La Resistance, which adds spies to the game which I could honestly live without. When you get tired of the stock game, then start thinking about the expansions (or wait for a sale and them grab some).
