Thanks NHRA for sharing that with us very interesting and cool to see what goes into that building chassis for our fastest

I could have watched a 2 hour long episode on just building the chassis.
The variety of stresses different points of the car handle must make designing and building the chassis a very specialised job.

Exactly, when you consider all the resources that the NHRA has , all they throw us is a few measly crumbs

I don’t know about a 2 hour long video but 15 ton 30 min would be nice. Chassis design is the most important thing in any form of racing int can be the difference of winning and losing life and death. It’s no joke designing and building a race car chassis.

As stated below, I could have watched a 30 minute video (or rather a 2-hour as said below :-) ) on this! Just like with the pro stock car stuff, you guys should have some video series that touches on this sort of stuff, from chassis to cylinder heads and all the other stuff that is done at the shop. The amount of work done outside of the track is enormous! thanks for the great video!

As a TIG welder of fuel rod handling tools for nuclear reactors back in the day, I can tell you that having top TIG technique is critical, but the experience these guys have on the fabrication side is, well there is probably only a handful of persons with these skill sets at this level of sophistication working as team in this country...

I build my own asphalt and dirt oval latemodel and sprint car chassis and yes it takes hundreds of feet of running and various sizes for any tube chassis racecar. I order all of my chromeoly tubbing from same place they do alot more expensive but the wall thickness is exactly the thickness they say it is through the whole piece unlike other cheaper manufacturers of tubbing it can vary by a 1/64 of a inch thickness and do that through out a whole race car it becomes a little weaker in a crash and it flexis more then what you want it to do ECT. It is a art form to building tube frame racecar chassis in any sport of racing.

Well I agree with that "they are not welders, they are artists"... The very science and mechanical engineering behind this, intrigues me

Wait a minute!! The reporter said he was in Indy. But DSR is definitely NOT in Indy!! Nor is Impact, Vance & Hines, JFR, ect. They're all out past Speedway. Past Clairemont. They're all out in Brownsburg. He even said DSR was in Brownsburg!!

Good question.... I’m not sure they put a dollar amount on the chassis, as it stays with the team. Add up materials and man hours and voila’... as others have said, I was disappointed at the short vid, I could watch them build that start to finish...

I would build my car way better and stronger and liter the Schumacher‘s Frame. I would never used his frame. You don’t want that shit breaking free 330 mile an hour. That what killed DR. and still building it the same way.
