I have never subscribed to anyone because it is SO annoying how most people spend the first 3 minutes asking you to subscribe and blah blah blah. I love how straight to the point this is. You are the man #1 You are officially the first person I am subscribing to
Every once and a while you come across content creators that actually provide useful entertaining and down to the point content without the mindless rambling followed by "please subscribe" "like the video" "hit the bell" "if you want more videos like these..." It's these creators that make TH-cam so great.
I love that video. Super helpful. The ending of the video cracked me up LOL Pls continue this series, I would love to see more. I am having problems with mastering and recording. ( I am pretty new at this ) But macro information was very nice. Thankss
I've casually watched push 2 tutorials for about 4 years. Recently purchased one, with still 0 understanding. This video single handedly cut the learning curve. Super duper helpful. Thank you. I might actually try to use it now!
I use TH-cam a BUNCH, but I have only about 5 subscriptions (and I rarely comment). You got mine at about 3:00 when you mentioned Shift-Scroll... not even related to your topic but a game-changer for me. I've been using Live since 2.0 ... but somehow missed that gem. Now I'm off to watch the rest of your vid. Rock on brother - full props.
Just getting into Push 2, have a unit arriving hopefully within days, fantastic tips, and also the funniest hard cut ending ive seen in a long time, ha
5:10 is what I'm doing with my Launchpad X since it does not have the fixed lenght function. Great tip! saved my life when I figured this out while crying not having a push hehe
Thanks for the tips! I'm new to Ableton and I am floored by all the cool stuff you can do with the Push 2! I agree... too many long, drawn-out videos. Some cover too much, others include TMI. Feeling your pain on the insistent caller! LOL! Turn it off or put it in DND mode. I had to disconnect my phone from the laptop because it got so annoying. Keep up the great videos! Quick and to the point.. awesome!
Just switched from a Boss RC300 to a Push2 + AbletonLive for my livelooping set up and your channel is perfect to help me get started ! Thanks for the tips and everything else in your efficient video ! :)
thanks for the video. I have a mac tip for you. Next to Siri, click the task bar thing and use two fingers to scroll and set your computer to do not disturb. Calls will then just go to your phone and not you computer.
You're legend Ian, I thought I became pretty comfortable with Push, and yet I'll be able to use all of these points to improve my workflow. I'd love to see a standalone video about how you go about playing chords on the push. Guitar is my main instrument so it was very helpful to see your flow.
Glad to hear it man. You got it. What specifically related to chords do you want to know? It's tough to gage what people want to know in terms of theory and also in terms of the Push2. Thanks again for watching.
@@IanPriven Sorry I missed your answer! I'm mostly wondering if you read the push in the way you read a guitar fretboard? I haven't been able to write chords on the push since I don't really know what I'm looking at. So I assume this is as basic as it is.
You can load the chords you want in session view and on each scene double-tap and on the bottom left-hand select trigger! Now you can control each scene that you put the chords on from your push on the pads! Now if you are playing them and not loading chords you can select the chords on your push2 to play your chords and to stay in key Switch to chromatic view it will be easier to understand since this view is similar to the guitar structure of chords keep up the amazing work and have a great day!
Great video! You can change how the pitch wheel slider reacts on the push 2 Hold shift button on the push2 and double-tap the slider, it changes the way it responds and it will respond like the keys pitch wheel (The shift key on the push2 is very very important!) I use to hate having my phone calls connected to the mac LMHO Thank you for the amazing video have a great day and keep making more!
So it's not actually affecting a single note. Though it is only moving a single note, it will not move notes that are on downbeats. Since only one note was *not* on a downbeat, that was the only one that was affected.
@@IanPriven Ohh I understand. That's actually better because it's less guesswork. Do you know if there's a way to adjust that 'swing' without the Push?
Hi Ian - when I move the Swing knob on my Push it has no effect on my kicks position, as per your example around the 16:00 mark. Is there some setting I need to enable to see this?
A BIG question: when you arm a track to record by long pressing the button, do you need then press the rec button twice? In my case when i do like this, i have to press it twice bc it just doesnt start recording after the first press :(
hello Man. do you know? - how with Push2 re-recording midi-clip (for live-performance)? for example - playing notes in midi-clip, loop On, Fixed Length is On, button Rec is On, and when i play new notes - they automatically re-recording past notes? sorry for my english)) i hope you understand my question.
Great video. Thank you. +2 level up (at least) after watching this video. Would love to see another video on advanced chords, live instrument setup. Of course please keep making original music, that's the main thing. Cheers.
Thx man! Great video: a lot of value in a short time. I heard that the Push 2's pitchbend could be improved if you modify your instrument's pitch bend parameters. I definitly want to see some tutorials to master it.
This was hilarious with that phone ringing. Great tips and nicely packaged and delivered. 😊

Subbed cause I know exactly how frustrating it is to keep having people call you while you're busy. I felt that.
I was waiting for the phone reaction thankyou for leaving that in great video i have incorporated all of these tips into my workflow!

Thanks man

Most entertaining push 2 tips video ever.

Good tips, well explained. And the video production level is excellent, too.

@@IanPrivenhey bro why do ableton exports sound muddy, but when I play them on my monitors they sound good?
Ian Priven the chord break down is game changing. Things make a lot more sense in 4ths!
Micah Weston 4ths for life

Great Vid, to the point and easy to understand. I will deffo be doing the FX rack tip
Great video with great tips! That 2nd tip for live looping is a new one for me, but it's so smart to have that ready to go.
I have a launchkey mini but a lot of these tips transferred over great! Such an underrated channel love your videos Ian

Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper useful stuff! Thank you!
Thanks for all those great tips ! :)
(I have one for you: when you are recording a video, put your phone on flight mode ;) )
that ending made me subscribe! hahaha
LOL the phone ringing at the end. Also I didnt know the swing knob on the push can affect a single midi note. Thanks!
So it's not actually affecting a single note. Though it is only moving a single note, it will not move notes that are on downbeats. Since only one note was *not* on a downbeat, that was the only one that was affected.
