    This video is criminally underviewed and underrated; The combination of engaging but helpful description *and* musicianship is ✨S✨T✨E✨L✨L✨A✨R✨!

      This. The amount of beginner-friendly yet useful information you managed to pack into this while keeping it so chill is nuts. Fastest 23 minutes of my life, and I don't even have a Push lol. idk why you randomly popped into my YT feed, maybe the almighty algorithm will make this video explode someday, who knows :) Anyways, keep up the good work, you're a great teacher and a wonderful singer! You just got a new follower on both YT & Twitch

    You just solved a major issue for me. I've been hunting for the best live looping configuration. I tried two Arturia Keystep Pros which I really like but I have a larger setup and like recording raw audio too. I tried the MPC Live 2 which is really great but still didn't have the workflow I needed. Ableton with the push controller for recording and launching clips and editing the loop points along with a Novation Launch Control XL for dedicated level mixing is the ultimate setup. Thank you again!

    Thanks Alanna! So many ways to use looper and I have been struggling with which one works best for me. One tip I just love is how you map the looper controls to the Akai! You showed me that I don't need the record button and can just use the "+" button for both record and overdub - then the 4 buttons on the Akai can include the clear button! Thanks!

    Thanks so much for this Video Alanna!!! Super helpful, easy to comprehend and entertaining to watch!
    I have learned there are like 10 things i can immediately do to speed up my workflow and its really awesome to see the details up close!!!
    1. What are the pros/cons of using the looper plugin vs having multiple vocal tracks to clip-launch ?(latency aside) and just generally more detail about the whole looper plugin set up.
    2. the sustain pedal issues in Ableton live are a nightmare. workaround explanations would be awesome, especially for live looping.
    3. might just be because i'm a major nerd when it comes to this stuff but a detailed step by step breakdown of all the tracks/sends/groups would be really fun to watch.(and learn from)

    • @AlannaMatty
      @AlannaMatty  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      2 and 3 deserve their own video BUT having less tracks (especially for vocals) is great for limiting CPU usage, but also not having to record enable each track to record single loops saves a pile of time. The only con with the plug-in is very slight compression as you add more layers, but it’s barely noticeable imo

    Awesome Vid, I love the idea of the looper on sends, can't believe I didn't think of that before, and using the LPD8. I find the long press to arm a real pain. I Have put something in options.txt to arm on select and turn of select on launch so arm is instant. I only ever record one channel at once so this works for me. But I like what you say, this is the way you vibe with it, every one is different and that's the beauty of Ableton. And also I have to say your voice, keyboard skills and song arrangement are awesome, and you teaching skills are amazing too. You have made my day and given me new inspiration and ideas.. Thank you. Obviously I had to subscribe too.

    Subscribed! And looking forward to watching more of your work. Wish you the best in your music!
    Would love your input for a total newbie. I've been day dreaming about making music for years now... But I always fail in starting. The distractions of life and work being the driving force against me trying things out seriously.
    My only "genuine"experience is playing bass guitar in highschool and that's over a decade ago (time flies hot damn). Other than that, over the last 8 years I keep buying random musical instruments just because it attracts me so much! Ukelele, harmonica, Kalimba... Ops haha.
    Nevertheless last year I started getting obsessed with the idea of learning how to make music with FL Studio / Ableton and a midi controller. So I ended up buying the Novation Launchkey mini intending to take online courses and yt lessons on how to use it for FL studio, specifically lofi and looping.. Again sadly however life hit hard and months and months flew by.
    TL:DR... Novation Launchkey mini, learning from scratch. Ableton or FL Studio? Any advice beyond choosing the software?
    Thanks for your time and effort, and sorry for the wall of text haha.

    What a godsend this video was! I am currently setting up my live looping for twitch and this was just what I needed, thank you so much.
    2 questions :
    I remember there was a way to make Ableton adjust the global bpm to the length of the first clip that’s being recorded, is there a way to s into this setup?
    Also, how does plugging in a pedal into the second jack of the push2 to trigger recording this? Any experience in doing it that way?

    • @AlannaMatty
      @AlannaMatty  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello!
      1) Yes there is a way to do this, but I haven’t played around much with it. I think it was added in a relatively recent update. I find personally that I don’t mind setting the bpm manually, I have a few songs that I’ve actually made notes of what Bpm I like so that I don’t have to tap
      2) I’ve never played with that actually! I imagine it would work similarly to triggering with another midi device though, I’d be curious to know how it goes :)
