It's gonna happen buddy! You are going to replace some incorrect parts, you are going to spend hours chasing a fault in the wrong area, you're going to repair something and have it explode on the bench. It's all part of the process, and it's what I went through as well :-) but the lessons are invaluable!

Man,this amp is a masterpiece! Looks like taramps made an amp with the correction of all the problems encountered by an car audio amp. I mean,clip limiter,voltage clip limiter,shorted output protection,full bridge hiss canceling,lower class D switching,big a$$ igbts with a very clever output gate drivers,good power supply MOSFETs and many more! Clearly,the best sub amp ever made!

i have 4 of the big boss 3k pushing 4x 15in avatar stu-1546 d2's wired to 1 ohm each and each one on a dsp output my box has independent chambers and a split port setup so i can time align the subs to the dash or kick made for a 4db gain
That voltage/output clamp should be standard on every new Taramps amp going forward. We would see a lot less people bashing them when they fail because they didn't have proper electrical. Very few pay attention to the cardinal rule regarding amplifier power (10 amps to every 100 watts) and think they can just install a smart 3 or 5 on stock electrical that only produces 120-140 amps before hitting battery voltage.
I sold my team pie 7500 surf board Amp lol and got the big boss bass .5 for my 4-12s Xmax monsters in 6th thought I would regret it but wow was I wrong man this amp hits the lows like crazy and has way more power went from 153.6 to 157.3
Im always worried about the Diy situation, this kinda power is dangerous if its released unintentionally. For simplicity sake, this is a great product, I just picked up a smart3 myself and excited to see what its got.
My BB 8k arrived last week..Almost done with install...my SFB 13,500 I was running lasted almost a year..It will be nice know I wont have to second guess this amp..At least the Sundown didn't catch fire

Its an 8k 2ohm amp that can be wired to 1ohm and 0.5ohm due to regulation. Without the regs it would try to make 16k at 1ohm and 30k at 0.5ohm which it obviously would never do, it would be more like 13k 1ohm and 16k 0.5 due to transformer saturation
@barevids so do you think it's best to just buy a 12k amp? If you want the extra 4k watts on tap? I've been running a bass 5k at .67 for a long time and no problems at all. It just performs.
I've really want the big boss 8k for my RS platinum 18". Problem is... I only have a 180amp alt and glowe voltage series 2. Highly doubt thats enough power for this amp.

The retail on those JL amps is nonsense haha. Buy the most rated power you can for the money you have. Dynamic headroom is the most important factor in a subwoofer setup.

The power supply doesn't do anything. It does this by attenuating the input signal from the preamp to the amplifier stage. It's actively "turns the volume down" to maintain the rated amount of power if it is reached or exceeded.
@@wow1022 yes the same as hard clip does when you reach the rails of any other amplifier. It only does this when you've reached the limit and it can't make any more power.
great question!!! music does sound "better , cleaner " on constant volts /ohm outs.....the old school high output voltage class AB, does it "automatically"...rockford, and jl 1200 does it thru electronics...1-4 ohm constant power..music does SQL cleaner at higher 4- 8 ohms...but db freaks rule at low ohm....0.5 ohm, SQL CAR IS 8-16 ohms class AB, DB CAR IS 0.45 OHM😮, some big AB push 145volts AC to the speaker!!!!😳, some big db amps push 100 AMPERE TO SPEAKER!!!😳 by the way, just give 1/2 max power to any woofer!! stay above 1.0 ohm to amps, killing woofers or amps is superlame!!$$$$$

It's a completely different skill set to find faults and repair something, and evaluate how well optimised something is, to building something from scratch. It's a bit like saying to the best mechanic in your area, who could pretty much fix any problem with any car, and comment on poor design choices by manufacturer, to build his own car from scratch.

How much better will amplifiers like Audison and Helix sound? Is it worth the extra investment? The price ranges are completely different. I want to set up my first high-quality system, but the installers where I live keep saying that Taramps are terrible and that I should buy something fancy like the Ground Zero GZUA 6SQ. I'm a noob.

A lot of confusion in the comments about the low voltage limiter.. Picture this, like me, you have a 250amp alternator installed with all the extra power wires. But because my amplifier doesn't have this, if I'm pounding and come to a stop light it will kill my car engine with every bass hit. I'm not sure what the alternator puts out at idle, but definitely not full amperage.
I dont no why. But i like better to use good equipment to adjust amp in insted of having a smart amp, also not fucking with settings after adjust, ofc sometimes it will clip when you go tight up to clipping point, but not enough to make the subwoofer smell. I have a digital amp now for first time, had it 2weeks, insane how small they can be.
Friend of mine bought a smart8 after they switched to the new board, could only clamp 1600 watts out of it with 160 ah of yinlong and 350 amp alt charging at 15.7, we played with rca voltages, redid the po2er and grounds, checked ohm load (0.5) and finally maxxed the gain knob on the amplifier just to see what gives, we clamped 1693 watts and he returned it to Amazon.
@@beerwolf669 It depends what you want to buy. But there is no need to import, as we have dealers and distributors for everything that is worth buying. My first choice would be FI Audio from blade Ice. You can also consider DB audio, digital designs, B2, sundown, etc.

The soundigital evo2.1 amps have a place on the circuit board for a 6-pin connector, labeled: clip, pwr, gnd, signal, ct, bias. Do you think it would work to just solder a 6P6C port to the amp and connect the soundigital remote control to it and it'd work? it seems like the right connections are there, but I'm unsure if the pinout is the same as in the Evo4 that have the connector.
What’s your opinion on taramps DS line that is intended for mids and highs. I have a 440 ds running my jl c3 650 and they sound great. I think sound quality depends more on your main source (streaming apps, cd; usb) and the dac in your headunit. I use tidal on max.

I just bought the Big Boss 8 Bass to push two BlackBrick Brickhouse 12s. Absolutely terrific amplifier. Even better with the Taramps EQ Bass control. I really appreciate this video. It makes me feel better knowing I made a good choice.
The rca's coming from the stereo to the amp, do you only hook up one rca to the amp or do i need a splitter to hook up both rcas to the 1 rca on the amp?
Need a bigger amplifier said no normal bass head. 8k is way too much power if if you build a proper system. This should be enough for 90% bassheads. Comp guys will jump in and complain, but taramps smart bass isn't made for them. Buy it, tune it properly, and don't clip it...problem solved. Espically for the steller build quality and competitive price point.
Have you done the smart 3 bass yet? I have the smart 3 bass and my voltage drops to around 11.5v when im sending it. im wondering if it has the same low voltage protection as the big boss 8. either way I need to save up some money for lithium.
Sorry about that, I was frantically trying to find my phantom power box for my decent microphones and couldn't find it anywhere it was stressing me out so I just had to record it with my phone behind a pop shield 😂
Have you done any videos on the bassface team red amps I've been hearing they are incredible value and outperforming the taramps at many UK shows. I just want to know if there's much between them?
Then why have people been switching! I'm not that tech savy but I've heard from several people that they are getting more from the equivalent bassface models?

@barevids I know of 3 people that have switched from taramps to the new bassface as of now! I know they were originally Chinese knockoffs of taramps but I've been told the new team reds are insanely good and was just wandering what your input was as I said to you before I'm not all that tech savy when it comes to these things but was told most bassface development is now done in the uk and Italy.

13:22 - I spot some bad ass Crown amps there. I have 6 older Crowns. A D-75, 2 DC-300A Series 2, a ComTech 800, and 2 ComTech 1610s.

Have you made a video discussing class d with no load connected? Some posts ive seen blaming blown amps on not having subs connected.

I have an ascendant audio SMD 18 and I want to use this amp and run a 250A alternator with a separate battery and the big 2 other things

Remove the RCA and see if you still get interference

A lot of confusion in the comments about the low voltage limiter.. Picture this, like me, you have a 250amp alternator installed with all the extra power wires. But because my amplifier doesn't have this, if I'm pounding and come to a stop light it will kill my car engine with every bass hit. I'm not sure what the alternator puts out at idle, but definitely not full amperage.
I dont no why. But i like better to use good equipment to adjust amp in insted of having a smart amp, also not fucking with settings after adjust, ofc sometimes it will clip when you go tight up to clipping point, but not enough to make the subwoofer smell.
I have a digital amp now for first time, had it 2weeks, insane how small they can be.
Friend of mine bought a smart8 after they switched to the new board, could only clamp 1600 watts out of it with 160 ah of yinlong and 350 amp alt charging at 15.7, we played with rca voltages, redid the po2er and grounds, checked ohm load (0.5) and finally maxxed the gain knob on the amplifier just to see what gives, we clamped 1693 watts and he returned it to Amazon.

@@beerwolf669 It depends what you want to buy. But there is no need to import, as we have dealers and distributors for everything that is worth buying. My first choice would be FI Audio from blade Ice. You can also consider DB audio, digital designs, B2, sundown, etc.

The soundigital evo2.1 amps have a place on the circuit board for a 6-pin connector, labeled: clip, pwr, gnd, signal, ct, bias.
Do you think it would work to just solder a 6P6C port to the amp and connect the soundigital remote control to it and it'd work?
it seems like the right connections are there, but I'm unsure if the pinout is the same as in the Evo4 that have the connector.
What’s your opinion on taramps DS line that is intended for mids and highs. I have a 440 ds running my jl c3 650 and they sound great. I think sound quality depends more on your main source (streaming apps, cd; usb) and the dac in your headunit. I use tidal on max.

I wish more people understood the gain control, it gets abused alot LOL. So Sam what you're saying is I need to order some PICS. I've ran a few Taramps in the past, and they've all done great. This one looks like it'd do well for a beefy daily driver.

The rca's coming from the stereo to the amp, do you only hook up one rca to the amp or do i need a splitter to hook up both rcas to the 1 rca on the amp?

Need a bigger amplifier said no normal bass head. 8k is way too much power if if you build a proper system. This should be enough for 90% bassheads. Comp guys will jump in and complain, but taramps smart bass isn't made for them. Buy it, tune it properly, and don't clip it...problem solved. Espically for the steller build quality and competitive price point.

Have you done the smart 3 bass yet? I have the smart 3 bass and my voltage drops to around 11.5v when im sending it. im wondering if it has the same low voltage protection as the big boss 8. either way I need to save up some money for lithium.

Have you done any videos on the bassface team red amps I've been hearing they are incredible value and outperforming the taramps at many UK shows. I just want to know if there's much between them?
@@hammyzgod value yes, 5k for like 230gpb is insanely cheap. Outperforming taramps no, they are a poorly cloned soundigital at best.
Then why have people been switching! I'm not that tech savy but I've heard from several people that they are getting more from the equivalent bassface models?
I'm in 2 minds which way to go as I've ran taramps in the past but I've been told recently that the new team reds are far superior.

@barevids I know of 3 people that have switched from taramps to the new bassface as of now! I know they were originally Chinese knockoffs of taramps but I've been told the new team reds are insanely good and was just wandering what your input was as I said to you before I'm not all that tech savy when it comes to these things but was told most bassface development is now done in the uk and Italy.
