    Amy Winehouse was, and still is, one of the greatest talents ever in my opinion. I think if you listen to it a few times more you’d fall in love with the song. Her album Back To Black is on of the best ever. You should listen to it from start to finish. You should also do a reaction to her song “Rehab.” RIP Amy. What a major loss.

    Wow, I'm surprised you haven't heard much of Amy. At the time of her death, her album Back to Black was the biggest selling album of the 21st century and it won her 5 Grammy's. She is particularly a huge star in the UK where she is recognised as a cultural icon and her music is still very relevant to this day.

    Definitely a 60’s vibe to this, soul/Motown with that feel given in the video. One of the best female vocalists in decades and many of today’s artists reference Amy as their inspiration.

  • @antonliverpool1

    When Mark Ronson collaborated with Amy on this album, he purchased lots of analogue 60’s equipment to give it that raw authenticity that would enhance Amy’s style.

    • @kayleighmoran
      @kayleighmoran 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Uh, I'm sure you have good intentions with your comment, but Amy wasn't "young" per se, or a jazz singer. What do you mean?

      @@kayleighmoran how is teen/early twenties not young? because that’s when she released her albums. Definitely young. Didn’t even make it to late twenties.

      @@tayahmcrae2418 think you didn't actually read or understand my comment. Or maybe you don't know what per se means. I know that she was in her twenties when she sang this. Amy was mature and had lived more than both you and me. She wasn't a youngster.

    • @amywinehoe
      @amywinehoe 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kayleighmoran She actually classified herself as a Jazz singer, and she was during her early years. Or during her first studio album “Frank” which she released in 2003, after this first album she strayed from it but at the root she was always a Jazz artist. Even if it wasn’t reflected as much during her second and last studio album “Back To Black” released in 2006. And she was actually very young! People tend to forget this, because she looked so mature. In that video she was only 22!

      @kayleighmoran 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@amywinehoe I see that you love Amy as much as me. You do not need to tell me facts about her, but I can tell you one thing, or challenge you even; her music is NOT jazz. I do not understand why this is important to you, but please go ahead and try to place her music into that realm of improvisation.

    love is a losing game ..nothing else needs be said ..its the perfect song .! she was in a 60s girl group phase when this album was recorded ... the album frank is maybe more her jazz phase mixed with hiphop....her music was dark with a sense of humor , the over dramatic ,like this she buried her heart in the video at the end ..her writing is what she is about ...so very very clever as a writer

  • @KindCountsDeb3773

    Amy combined genre's and loved the old time band singers. It does have jazz, and Tony Neen rated her with the greats like Ella, Billie Holiday, etc. Listen to her song "valerie" (live) and "Rehab" (more upbeat). Her style was so new to the generation she was in, she stood out and embraced. I'd recommend the HBO cocu film on her. The coffin was said to be her broken heart. She said she wouldn't do well with fame and she didn't. Not many supports around her, not even her Father, who seemed more interested in her fame. I'd like to hear your reaction to her singing voice, lyrics and performances. RIP to Amy. BTW: alcohol bonds with a chemical in the brain, and addictive. Herion and cigarettes do the same.

    Mark Ronson - Bruno Mars And Uptown Funk. Ronson was also a very good friend of Amy's.
    Amy Winehouse was an amazing and unique talent in the early 2000s. You may want to listen to her song Valerie.
    Amy had a troubled life. While a huge star she was married to a herion addict who was bad for her. She was always a drinker but, with her husband she really got into drugs and ended up passing away at 27.
    Like others in the 27 club (Jimi Hendrix, Robert Johnson, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, ect), the world lost another great and huge talent
    We will be much poorer for it.

Ronnie did a pretty damned good version of this... th-cam.com/video/OkDQePNMmt8/w-d-xo.html.. Ronnie was amazing.. sadly, lost her recently as well, but when I had chance to meet Ronnie briefly when she was touring in the mid-90's.. she was incredibly charming and energetic.. she didn't know me from anything/anywhere, but she just jumped up and threw her arms around my neck and agreed to pose wherever I wanted.. lol

    It was released in 2007 but it is a masterpiece that really does grow on you with repeated listens. She had a jazz/pop sound but listen to the album to really understand her. Its Phil Spector sounding over production is on purpose taking you back to songs like 'Leader of the pack' by the Shangrilas. She also recorded quite a few reggae & ska tracks that are real fun songs & a change of mood. There's a new movie biopic coming out this year about her which you really should try to see. I guarantee your opinion will totally change. Her life story is quite incredible.

    Amy Winehouse is a genre unto herself.

    Amy's music has no genre. It's so unique and so Amy

    I get your reaction. Amy is one of those artists that grow on you over time, the deeper you go into her catalog the more you'll start to feel her vibe. Hopefully you get to hear more.

    The production of her music reminds me of Phil Specter’s famous wall of sound from the 60’s. Fantastic stuff! I’m only sorry I’m just now becoming hip to it.

    Always reminded me of a Phil Spectre "Wall of Sound" vibe.

    Yes, she was mostly a jazz singer! Try listening to “You Know I’m No Good” you may quickly change your mind. Or “Valerie” she, unfortunately, is in “the 27 club” R.I.P. I am a recovering alcoholic and alcohol IS addictive. Trust me.

    Just to keep the public health information accurate, alcohol is very physiologically addictive. An addict can actually go into a potentially fatal condition if they suddenly stop drinking called delerium tremens which can include seizures etc. (nurse with experience in detox unit)

    Your interpretations are intellectual. Breathe and let her in. Weep with her. Amy is liquid feeling. You need to go there to really understand her. She is pain personified. Grief and betrayal by those she trusted with no reserves left to recover. A heartbreaking loss for all of us.
