@@jhonkylerosales4158 the most disturbing part is not the music produced by Yoasobi but your comment with capitals in every first alphabet on every words
What I love about the ending is that the “I love you” isn’t necessarily directed to a lover of sorts, but to her children. It gives more personal feelings from Ai rather than a simple love song.
Saw the MV for this song=cried Saw the first ep=cried and devastated Finally read what the lyrics said=destroyed Love Oshi No Ko, cried too much to this series today 😭❤
Saw the trailer - weird babies, not watching Saw spoilers on yt - hell yeah Saw ep 1 - devastated and traumatized by its art Couldn’t help but binge read the manga - I want MORE
The first verse and the chorus are ruby and aqua 's perspective The second verse is the stalker' s perspective And the last verse is Ai's perspective Really smart and suitable lyrics Edit : 1k likes O___O mom.. I'm famous.
The lyrics actually reference a short story that Aka Akasaka wrote specifically for this song. The story is called 45510 (spoiler to episode 2 or 3: it was Ai's phone password) and it is about an ex-member of B-komachi who finds an old interview of Ai that a fan reuploaded online. The first verse references how she skillfully dodged most questions in the interview, creating an aura of mystery to protect her private life while mixing some truth into it (for example, dodging the question about her type of man by saying she did not know what it was like to love). The second verse is about the rest of the group's jealousy against her. Despite this, deep down even her fellow idol who watches the interview could not help seeing her as the ideal idol, which is referenced in the chorus. The last verse, is the only part that does not come from 45510 and it is indeed Ai's perspective, most of it directly quotes chapters 8 and 9, which are Ai's flashback and her death.

I love how this song is so much than just some crazy beat and voices. It tells us about Ai's secrets that she keeps hiding and her lies. Everyone asks ger questions regarding love and else, but her answer is always that she isn't interested, but in actual reality she does not realise what love actually is. We also get a taste of backbiting by other b kamochi stars that are jealous of Ai's fame.
Oh, and o forgot that this song also tells us that Ai herself admitted that she lies when she says, "I Love You". That is fake, but for her real form of love. She also tells that she wants to be actually loved.
This is a new breakthrough in the anime industry, the visuals and music are very good and the harmony is really beyond expectations. I love Oshi no Ko ❤
It a start of a new era, where the context are well fed before the journey of the series unlike the typical formula of old anime where they'll throw random logics or flings in the anime and throw the context on how things come about at the end. Here its all thrown in but with still a bit of mystery where u can't rlly predict what's gonna happen next.
I just love this song lmao From how it portrays idols as simply as manipulators (unlike in other depictions where they were portrays as "victims), how they feed off and fed their fans with lies, how the fans reacts and worshipped them to such degree. And as the cherry on top, i love how the song is sang sarcasticaly as well, as if they 'mocked' us with "yeah this environment is incredibly toxic and dangerous, but fuck it anyway lmao"
seriously, i never thought this idol shit was real, well not that i care any ways, but still, idol worshiping? that's the first time i have heard of such a thing
@@Obliviousovertimer17 I have this habit, whenever I think “no way someone like that exists”, I always end thinking “nah the world is big, someone must surely have done that”, whatever it’s in the past or present they exist. Also since the world is connected trough technology, be it from comments, divulged stories or news, I know lots of horrendous stuff happens out there. The idol industry really is tough, news about harassed stars are all over the place, and deranged fans exist
Knowing how the story plays out this lyrics are so so so smart and witty. Word play is on point as well as how the song progresses it begins uncover little by little. It truly does feel like something that Ai would say it is just perfect!
This brings me back to the old days of anime where characters would have image songs sung by the VA that talked about their emotions/personality. Basicslly painting an 'image' of that character. This is a perfect image song of Ai.
the lyrics are genius. the first part of the song is from the pov of a fan, then pov of the fellow idols or stars in the entertainment industry then the last part is ai hoshino’s pov…. and i like the fact that they sneakily added aqua and ruby and called ai called herself maria in the song, maria being the latinised form of mary, a mother.
Fuck. Just, I don't even have words to describe how well this songs fits AI and the very first arc of the series. And those final lines... You can feel the love that went into this series but specially into this song.
@@frostsmaker8966 There's lots of custom made songs specifically done for a series especially if its music related. And the budget aint joking for that. Gundam WFM OP was also custom made , as for love is war I don't know but it fits so well XD. But yeah it's not common for non music related series to have that.
I was about to say, this 3:33 song wrapped up an hour and a half of anime. If you watch the first episode and listen and understand this song, it feels like you've rewatched the pilot its sooo good.
I simply just adore this song for its essence of modern music, highlighting its relevance to the present, weighing down the reality of the entertainment industry whilst deftly telling the tale of a girl who stands in it accompanied by the thoughts of those around her and her own's. Everything starts off with a percussion, demanding the viewer: "Look at me. I am the performer. I am the star." alongside a rap that perfectly summarizes our subject at hand. A shining star that everyone wants to know everything about, down to her every flaw, ended with what she truly is. A perfect human being built upon lies labeled as an idol. Then comes the short choir, signifying the tone of her reality. Analyzing its surface, some might interpret it as "heavenly," "majestic," or "radiant." But the perceptive will interpret it as "dark," "cold," and "hellish." Similar to how people are separated on how they perceive the entertainment industry. Using it as a bridge, the song continues off with asking the idol's preferences then slipping in her mastery to dodge questions with the same choir in the background concluded by asking what and who is her partner in an insistent tone. Which she responds by saying such concepts like "loving someone" is foreign to her, which she goes by once more again in her daily life and serves as the introduction to our idol's beliefs. The chorus comes, and she is at the center of the spotlight. She is the icon, she is the legend, and she is the moment. The paragon of perfection, one which will never be seen ever again. The rebirth of the star whose smile shines so bright everyone who gazes upon it falls for it and draws attention to it. Even if her image is a lie, her love stays perfect. The next verse shows a clear change of tune, the distorted singing of the lyrics just reeks of negativity. Hatred, disdain, disgust, repulsion, and envy. The lyrics clearly stating that these words are her peers', words seen from their abhorred eyes that easily see her imperfection but could do nothing but accept the reality that she is better than them. The next chorus comes, and this time it depicts her perceived character. One of unparalleled strength, one without flaw, and one of being absolutely unique. This image of her in their minds, is true love. Now, the idol's thoughts are laid bare. Her true secret, her most precious ones, and her lies are her best forms of love. And the only love she'd ever known. The sentimental tone of the piano arrives which highlights her loneliness, which then slowly returns to being upbeat, accepting herself, and continues living daily hoping she'd truly know what it means to love someone someday. At last, the ending of her tale comes, she finally understands the true meaning of love, one without lie, one without deception, and one without facade. Our idol finally managed to say "I love you" from the bottom of her heart. As the curtains close, a happy beat accompanied by cheers is heard, but is ultimately ended with the same choirs heard from earlier with chants of looming dread, almost saying as if this story has not reached its end yet. *_"You're my savior, my true savior, my saving grace."_*
@@blueberrueI no this is late but personally think it's both, neither fan nor idol can truly love each other. Actual pure love because it's transactional, in the fans eyes as long as she is "mine" and for her as long as their eyes on "me" kinda thing. She demands your attention and you demand hers.
Also the "I am Maria" is described Ai perfectly; Mary means star of the sea good interpretation of Ai's character bcs she is a star, the most popular idol and an actress. I mean look at her eyes litterally has sea of stars. It associated as "beloved" and "wished for child".
@@Subash2447 maybe autotune made her voice sounds different to suit the anime. because some part is really sounds as her actual voice in other song (lower tone rap part)
After reading the meaning of the song, I immediately fell in love with this opening. The song gives us a happy and cheerful vibes when hearing it, but if you look deeply into the lyrics it's actually quite dark. Similar to how we look at idols and thought "omg being an idol is so great, they're always happy and smiling, I'm so jealous" When in reality being an idol is not as easy as you think. The cheerful lyrics mix with dark lyrics conveyed that beautifully. In the middle of the song, suddenly the melody becomes darker and the voice sound twisted as they sing a more "obvious" Dark lyrics. That part bring me chills. In the end of the song we got to hear Ai's last words before she died. "Aah I finally say it, this time it's definitely not a lie, I love you" This song is perfect, the cheerful theme, the melody, the way the singer sang it, boi this op had become my number 1 best anime op
Fun fact: Ai Hoshino’s first name- Ai, also means love in Japanese. so the verse in 2:04 “That’s what makes a real Ai” Can also mean thats what makes a real love” 😮
It actually depends on how you write it. I feel like since it sounds like that same other word, it's like the singer says indeed "This is the true love", but the lyrics say otherwise, as "This is the true Ai". It's like a phonetic illusion, a lie. Which is quite a genius work for a character like Ai who always lies to share her love.

** Spoiler People been saying this song is about how idols decieve their fans, But far from truth, this song screams how AI HOSHINO see IDOLS. She doesn't understand love but she knows she is longing for love in her life. She created a perfect idol persona in order to make the fans feel loved. But she knows all of it is a lie because she herself doesn't know what love is. Starving herself to death, training everyday, and pretend to smile just to create the perfect bright idol just to be loved by fans. Hoping one day she understand what love is. Good to know before her death she finally realized what it feels to love something.
It goes soooo freaking well 🥺 when the song is specifically made for the person.. I could see flashes of her life back story in all the lyrics.. Hoshino Ai will be missed forever ❤️

the last few lines were enough to make me bawl my eyes out. i just finished the first ep of the anime (4/13/23) and when she said that, i started crying aha. but it's really good so far! can't wait for more episodes (the next one is estimated to air 1 day before my birthday so i'll consider it an early birthday present! :> )
I just watched the first episode last night, and I can tell you the same. I cried nonstop for hours (eventually crying myself to sleep) after seeing THAT scene 😢. Anyways, I’m all caught up now. Can’t wait for episode 4 next week
fun fact: there is a part in the song's lyrics where it says honmono no Ai can mean "true Ai" and also "true love" and it makes sense cause the "true Ai"(the name) is what Ai is describing as what she should be while "true Ai/Love"(the word) is about her whole schpiel with lying and how she can't show true love. :)

Man, I'm just so glad Yaosobi is finally having a big break because of this anime , I've been a fan since 2 years after listening to Beastars and listening to their playlists till this day.
"Maria" is synonymous with the so-called Virgin Mary. The non-religious Japanese perception of Mary is closest to that of Catholics. I think it has a strong meaning of a mother who gave birth to the Son of God. Ruby, on the other hand, says (perhaps jokingly) in the story, "Ai was conceived as a virgin." The use of the word "Maria" was probably influenced by Ruby's statement. *I'm using a translation tool, so there may be some problems with the wording.
i thought it was just another nice yoasobi song, but when i read "I've never been loved by anyone, i've never loved anyone" made me cry because i know how ai struggle to know what love is
The anime made me cry in the first episode. The lyrics truly break my heart , especially the end . This song definitely shows an emphasis on how Ai was truly a cheerful carefree character. She had the character the epitome of a bright star . It's sad that I won't be able to see her in the future episodes of the anime .
The song and the anime of oshi no ko has a meaning on not just the dark side of idol entertainment but also another message on internet culture as a whole I know that the series tackles the dark reality of idol entertainment industry and majority of the entertainment industry But I like that it also tackles the horror and mental issues of Internet culture + online communities and how it effects on actors/ actresses mentality. Plus, how internet culture has become more toxic with reactionaries youtubers and people posting their opinion without understanding their own actions effect others (cancel culture, Twitter, etc.) It never takes sides and I like that it shows both the horrors and problems with both side

As the fans and idol industry doesn't like idols to have and sort of personal life of their own
Which is sad as we all want to have a personal life of our own
But the the so called "Pure and Innocent" look that idols are required by the fans and the industry sorts of robs them of having a family of them their, especially if they ever want a boyfriend or a husband at all
I ununderstand where this comes from
These idol are kind of the main thing that gives of that the girls in this industry will be this "Pure and Innocent" girl forever
Forgetting that they are as human as we are and they have a desire to build their own family that have personal relationships with their husband or boyfriend
Or even entertaining the idea of having any children of their own
Which is sad in my opinion
But changing this perspective of these fans and the industry players is nearly impossible though as they are only allowed to be the character that are allowed by their managers and colleagues that will keep these idols this way so that fans will think that their so called Oshsi is forever like this
Which just purely fantasy that has been brought into reality by the companies as they want to milk the fans of their money and to stock home into a culture that can be toxic in the first place
And issues like not having a personal family at despite these idols being in their teenage years
It really stops them from growing as a person and makes them a symbol of their company to make a profit instead of giving idols the salary they truly deserve as they are the ones that allows these idol companies to exist in the first place I might add😅

I just love that part especially how it starts with "this is my own style of love(Ai)"...
Then shows how each characters are related to her...
What I love about the ending is that the “I love you” isn’t necessarily directed to a lover of sorts, but to her children. It gives more personal feelings from Ai rather than a simple love song.
But what hurts the most a lot that line is: She actually really meant it this time 😢
yeah in the last breath of her life she finally found the true meaning of love 😭😭😭

The first verse and the chorus are ruby and aqua 's perspective
The second verse is the stalker' s perspective
And the last verse is Ai's perspective
Really smart and suitable lyrics
Edit : 1k likes O___O
mom.. I'm famous.
Second verse is closer to her colleagues' POV i think
The last verse, is the only part that does not come from 45510 and it is indeed Ai's perspective, most of it directly quotes chapters 8 and 9, which are Ai's flashback and her death.
the part about being side characters for ai is other b-komachi members perspective and the part about being unable to forgive ai is the stalker
So first verse is the people close to ai perspectives
Second is the most of the world
Then ai herself
yea but I feel like from 1:19 to 1;30 her formal group mates or to 1:39 but I feel like blue is stalker though are bc It was even said in beginning that Ai was more liked and popular then her team mates but I'm not saying they had something with murder(but there is a chance)are her formal group matesher formal group mates or to 1:39 but I feel like blue is stalker though are bc It was even said in beginning that Ai was more
THE VOCALS OF THIS SONG ARE MAGICAL
The Japs already made some breakthroughs in the Jap anime industry lol
2:24 "Singing, dancing, and spinning, I am Maria" that line goes way too hard

From how it portrays idols as simply as manipulators (unlike in other depictions where they were portrays as "victims), how they feed off and fed their fans with lies, how the fans reacts and worshipped them to such degree.

Genius songwriting by Yoasobi.
Yes finally the full version is out! I've been obsessing over this song for weeks 😂😂 THANK YOU
This brings me back to the old days of anime where characters would have image songs sung by the VA that talked about their emotions/personality.

Yoasobi never stops making songs that are equally delightful and terrifying at the same time.
Right? So good yet so dark at the same time
I simply just adore this song for its essence of modern music, highlighting its relevance to the present, weighing down the reality of the entertainment industry whilst deftly telling the tale of a girl who stands in it accompanied by the thoughts of those around her and her own's.
Holy you cooked with this one. Actual poetry.
Can i ask smth?? "Buildiya career on a lie that says "i love you" does that line mean the fans saying i love you or the idol saying i love you?
I LOVE YOU FRFR❤
@@blueberrueI no this is late but personally think it's both, neither fan nor idol can truly love each other. Actual pure love because it's transactional, in the fans eyes as long as she is "mine" and for her as long as their eyes on "me" kinda thing. She demands your attention and you demand hers.
This song summarizes the entire entertainment industry and feelings idols have. It's...something else...it hits you.
I notice in 0:16 say "You're my savior" represents the fans sees Ai as Goddess in there eyes.
Also the "I am Maria" is described Ai perfectly; Mary means star of the sea good interpretation of Ai's character bcs she is a star, the most popular idol and an actress. I mean look at her eyes litterally has sea of stars. It associated as "beloved" and "wished for child".

"Aah I finally say it, this time it's definitely not a lie, I love you"
This song is perfect, the cheerful theme, the melody, the way the singer sang it, boi this op had become my number 1 best anime op
Fun fact: Ai Hoshino’s first name- Ai, also means love in Japanese. so the verse in 2:04 “That’s what makes a real Ai” Can also mean thats what makes a real love” 😮
It also means "misery" when written with different kanji.
哀
It actually depends on how you write it. I feel like since it sounds like that same other word, it's like the singer says indeed "This is the true love", but the lyrics say otherwise, as "This is the true Ai". It's like a phonetic illusion, a lie. Which is quite a genius work for a character like Ai who always lies to share her love.
Her name hoshino also means my star (hoshi - star) (no - my) so her full name would mean love is my star (hoshi no ai)
@@bwabwa "no" actually means "of"
"my" would be "watashi no" or something more along those lines
hoshi no ai would be "love of a star"
This hit me right in the feels. Even got her final words in the lyrics.

People been saying this song is about how idols decieve their fans,
But far from truth, this song screams how AI HOSHINO see IDOLS.

ちゃんと愛したいから
今日も嘘をつくの
この言葉がいつか本当になる日を願って
それでもまだ 君と君にだけは言えずにいたけど
やっと言えた これは絶対嘘じゃない
愛してる
"Maria" is synonymous with the so-called Virgin Mary.
The non-religious Japanese perception of Mary is closest to that of Catholics.
I think it has a strong meaning of a mother who gave birth to the Son of God.
Ruby, on the other hand, says (perhaps jokingly) in the story, "Ai was conceived as a virgin."
The use of the word "Maria" was probably influenced by Ruby's statement.
*I'm using a translation tool, so there may be some problems with the wording.
This made me cry after ep 1. Can't imagine how manga readers felt when they heard it 😭
i thought it was just another nice yoasobi song, but when i read "I've never been loved by anyone, i've never loved anyone" made me cry because i know how ai struggle to know what love is
You know, every chapter is just PAIN
As a manga reader this song destroyed me :')
Love how the manga and novel re-contextualizes this song. Some parts fit Nino, and the rest is Ai.
❤YOASOBI‼️❤
Ai channn😢😢😢😢😢
the lyrics is genious!
The anime made me cry in the first episode. The lyrics truly break my heart , especially the end .
This song definitely shows an emphasis on how Ai was truly a cheerful carefree character. She had the character the epitome of a bright star . It's sad that I won't be able to see her in the future episodes of the anime .
"Finally I can say it"
"This is definitely not a lie"
"Aishiteru"
*dies
Literally her final words 😭😭
Masterpiece 🤌 すごい🎉
The song and the anime of oshi no ko has a meaning on not just the dark side of idol entertainment but also another message on internet culture as a whole
I know that the series tackles the dark reality of idol entertainment industry and majority of the entertainment industry
But I like that it also tackles the horror and mental issues of Internet culture + online communities and how it effects on actors/ actresses mentality. Plus, how internet culture has become more toxic with reactionaries youtubers and people posting their opinion without understanding their own actions effect others (cancel culture, Twitter, etc.)
It never takes sides and I like that it shows both the horrors and problems with both side
after watch the first 80 minutes of episode 1, this song really hit it
