do you NEED to use a switch or network to use this? = Id in theory like to buy 2 of these Sonnet 25G Twin, and connect 1 to my pc, and connect the other to my Mac Studio and have 1 ethernet cable direct (for music mixing using audiogridder; my pc is my mixing computer and my plugins to be run on my 'server' which is my Mac Studio running a pluginserver app). Just wondering if this works without a switch or network hub. Thanks for the video )
Other than avoiding the necessity of having an available PCI slot, is there an advantage to this solution over connecting to a Thunderbolt card directly? How would you recommend making a choice between this approach vs. a Thunderbolt to Thunderbolt connection? Thanks!
One of the biggest disadvantages of Thunderbolt to Thunderbolt is cable length, generally you will be limited to be sitting within 2-3 metres of the NAS for this. This Sonnettech device really takes away that limitation without sacrificing performance.
Great video!
