This is excellent! The ash trays are a nice touch lol, I spent a ton of time playing the Astro city cabs when I was stationed in Okinawa. Great review and happy for you having this!!!
Nice work! I'm glad to see the cabinet was not damaged in shipping, as I know a few of the first receivers got some pretty beat-up cabinets. Given Unico's current track record on accurate shipping times, I'm assuming I won't see mine until January, but I'm still excited to get it and put it next to my Astro City. Thanks for giving us a good look at the inside of the cabinet, this will give me some time to prep my cables accordingly.
One thing I wish this had is some kind of support for Astro City/Blast City marquee art. Does your unit allow for anything to be easily swapped into the marquee space?
His so far is the only one I have seen that is cream...it hurts the asthetic and definitely my OCD. Lol. I am assuming it's the stickers on the sides as it looks white on the front... but awesome video!
Hi Ness, what does the switch on the main board labeled "JAMMA EXT" do? Is this to switch between using a JAMMA board for the picture/buttons and EXT if for using the USB encoders (GB2040CE) for the buttons with an HDMI/VGA source? The button is featured at time stamp "9:24".
Hey sry, just getting to this comment. From some early testing anything Jamma board related I had the switch turned to Jamma position. When I tried testing a buddies CPS2 thats when I switched it to the EXT position with Jamma EXT wire plugged in. I haven't tested anything with HDMI/VGA just yet.
Nice brother I can see the Afro Samurai poster through the glass on your arcade machine awesome you almost made me scared to get one of these things cuz I was like hopefully it ain't difficult to put together 🤦🏾😂🕹🎮😀👍🏾
Good video helped me trying to troubleshoot but still no luck with Audio even if I just try to go through the HDMI using a switch with a 3.5mm connected to the monitor.

Great video and extremely helpful walking us through the cable connections, like you I've put together Arcade1Up cabinets and I have a little experience with JAMMA setups as I used to own a Supergun years ago. I just ordered the Nova Blast and live in the UK, and don't know of anyone who's got one here yet. The Unico-USA support team they said it would come with different types of AC Plug power cable for different countries, including UK. Did your one come with different AC Plug power cables? Also I noticed you had to supply your own 3.5mm audio jack to connect the internal amp to the JAMMA converter board. From the videos I've seen from Neocvera it should come with an 3.5mm cable in the box?
Thanks! Mine didn’t come with different power plugs. I also didn’t get an audio jack. I had few laying around so I ended up using one of those. I have a follow up video coming with some additional finds with connections etc.
@ Thank you for your reply, that doesn’t fill me with confidence that it will show up with a UK power cable. I suspect they don’t have variations for the different regions so it will only come with a North America power cable. I’m looking forward to your next video on the Nova Blast 💥
Great Pickup, I'll probably lose my patience putting that together. I would definitely get Shock Troopers and Neo Drift Out out on MVS,, If I had that This video was ON THE GREEN !!!👍
1. I now have a new golf game I have to play on my Polycade so thanks lol 2. Is the 26in Unico monitor better than normal LCD screens for arcade titles? I use Mame and a 4k monitor with filters but still miss the crt pureness
1. 🤣 it’s my go to arcade golf game. 2. There are some improvements. Not too sure if it will compare with the current monitor you have. Yeah it’s so hard to find a solid replacement for the CRT quality.
Man after my own heart, first thing will be Turf Masters for me too. I can’t wait for mine to arrive as I ordered day 1 for Australia so that was January 21. Still not here but hopeful it will be before my order reaches its birthday.
I know that feeling, waiting for a new arcade cabinet! Hopefully it won't be too much longer and in time for your birthday! I know that will be a great present to have.

I purchased their phoenix 25” lcd arcade monitor a few weeks ago to replace my CRT monitor in my 4 slot big red Neo Geo arcade machine. The picture quality looked nothing like what you got on yours. I know unico uses the same monitor on those candy cabs they sell. It was washed out, over bright and the pixels were awful. I returned it right away. Not sure if I did something wrong but I spent hours fooling around with the picture settings to no avail. Glad it worked out for you!
I’m sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with the monitor. I’m not sure if it’s a different model or a new batch. I hope you’re able to find a replacement monitor and able to get back to gaming.
The 25 you got may still have had the old controller video board in it. I got one to replace the monitor in my two slot NEO GEO and ran into the same thing. There was a fix for it, but they ultimately ended having to replace the video board with a new one. It looks so much better now, though I did have adjust the color pots to get things dialed in correctly. Its a shame Unico doesn't slow down a bit to ensure a better experience for their customers.

I’ve playing on this machine the last few days. A lot of the major connections are done for you. Outside of the ones I mentioned in the video once you have those plugged in you will be good to go. The stools are 16”x 17” and pretty comfortable. If you do decide to go with a different stool roughly around the same size I’d recommend one with back support if you are able to find one. Especially if you plan on having long play times.

It seems to handle them fine from what I’ve used but I haven’t run into any issues to report yet.
