Saw something I meant to bring up, "if it's A-N-A-S, why does he attack twice in a row?" If Olm's last action was to turn then a null turns INTO an attack. So when he attacks twice you are seeing the N-A part of A-N-A-S. This is something I didn't understand for a long time and threw me off hard for 100s of KC.
This is a guide I needed so long ago. I still need to solo but the explanation of how his head turns is so so so helpful for duo and nobody makes duo guides lol. Lots of self learning
@@alexwhite1940 duos are like trios but you need to attack the same hands so one camps melee side and mages with skipper until mage hand is dead then both jumpnon melee hand until 3rd phase then you get melee hand low then start on mage hand. When head phase starts melee camper stays on his side and skipper runs like runner turning olm head to spread the damage taken.
The Null turns into an Auto? Or the turn acts as the null? So he'll attack 3 times total before the special? This has also been a question I haven't been able to answer for almost 1000 kc...
does olm attack twice if you turn his head during head phase? i havent paid enough attention to whether this changes when the special gets removed from his cycle.

this is an excellent guide on solo cox, great vid man. Done about 750 solo cox and this is such a good resource on learning not only the rooms but olm specifically. Only thing I would add is a good reference to know when to attack is my Olm bobbing his head up and down - you can see this at 51:19 and 51:40 for the 2 different types. As the head moves up or down, that's when you click the mage hand to mage so that you're always in cycle; for meleeing, it bobs and then attacks - that was how I learned to be in cycle properly and be prepared for attacks. great vid!

Haven’t been able to watch all of this, but am going to try to get around to it. However, of my 300 cox KC probably around 275 have been solo. Granted I was leaning how to do the raid at the same time as learning how to solo, one thing that really, really helped me was finding a baby raid and taking the absolute minimum switches to get to olm, with an invy full of stam pots and ring of endurance if possible. At first farm/Scav room, you can make all of your brews/restores/ovls to get through rooms. Once you get to olm, suicide an invy of supplies inside, grab all your stams, with a 4t mage/melee weapon, and just practice. First running pinky-pinky without taking any hits, running mage hand, and 3:1/4:1. Pick up brews as you need, and if you die, grab more brews and head back down until you run out of stams. Is there any 3:1 setup that lets Noxious Halberd be used for Olm Hand? Haven't seen anyone cover it. Not sure if that is because it is impossible, or just it being so recent.
You could use the exact same 3:1 method that is used for scythe or fang, but the dps is substantially worse than using a lance or even a fang. The 3:1 method is only worth doing if you have a scythe otherwise stick to 4:1 with 4 tic weapons.
Should also be able to do no-damage head phase right? Just kiting from side to side. Lot slower DPS but safer.. And you can camp front row right next to Olm to avoid a good amount of falling rocks.

No, you need to attack on specific ticks and turn on specific ticks or you can't get into cycle. You don't run mid for specials, that's not how the "ANUS" cycle works
Don't use fang, it is 5t weapon and you can't 4:1 with it. Rapier is better than whip and 4t, also good for Vasa. You can bring DHCB for Olm head, but that's the only place it out DPS' BOFA. DHL + Bofa is HUGE. Lance is basically BIS. Scythe only beats it in giga max by like 2% with the best of the best gameplay.
@@GnomonkeyRS if they can learn the 4:1 4 tick method well, then fang using the 5t 3:1 method (accounting for 15/16ths dps) would be an upgrade over zhasta and tent whip on 1 hammer, tent beats it with 2 hammers. The benefit is that fang is also way better than both at tekton and zhasta at vasa (meaning you save an inventory slot). It can be harder to recognize where you are in the cycle and how many ticks to stall left of center, so not ideal as a learner, but still something to keep in mind when moving beyond basic strats. All that said, I genuinely don't think it's worth for an iron to do solo chambers w/out lance unless you're doing some kinda pvm rush with advanced strats. And yeah swapping to dhcb is only really worth when you have shadow and masori, because you don't have any good alternatives for vespula, vasa, shamans, etc. Bowfa just too good.
whats that plugin that is counting the numbers over your head? im assuming thats ticks but are you using that to player flick or is there another purpose for it?
Visual Metronome. It lets me know for speedruns what tick to enter certain rooms, like Tekton for an instant anvil pull off, or crab room to have the ball spawn at a certain cycle. There is also Weapon Attack Timer which shows the tick cooldown of your weapon, I know a lot of people really like that one as well.
Why fury over torture? I was planning to grind for tort and bowfa before starting cox because sand makes it easy to get. Is the defense on fury really that good?
It's called World Scything and its very advanced and even something I have troubles with. It's like 2% better than Lance. Just get a lance and learn with that.

Bowfa just too good.
haha thx for this pulled a ancesty bottom off the solo!
Hollow-Knight music pog video
HUHH its up already, was Hedron editing as you streamed???
Yup, she was editing the first run while I was doing the 2nd. She got it up before end of stream
🤯 dream. team.
whats that plugin that is counting the numbers over your head? im assuming thats ticks but are you using that to player flick or is there another purpose for it?
Visual Metronome. It lets me know for speedruns what tick to enter certain rooms, like Tekton for an instant anvil pull off, or crab room to have the ball spawn at a certain cycle. There is also Weapon Attack Timer which shows the tick cooldown of your weapon, I know a lot of people really like that one as well.
@@GnomonkeyRS thank you!
Why fury over torture? I was planning to grind for tort and bowfa before starting cox because sand makes it easy to get. Is the defense on fury really that good?
This was budget setup, if you have torture go for it!
@ oh awesome, thanks! When you said it was intentional, I thought that there was a reason to take fury over torture even if you had both.
Fine ill finally learn solo cox
Would you consider BGS good enough or just suck it up and grind the DWH?
BGS will never land. You want hammer.
Does Mutta do mage attacks in sets of 3, or just minimum of 3? Like if you get a 4th, does that mean she's definitely doing 6?
Minimum 3
I have scythe, no DHL. Is there a 5 tick method for melee hand?
It's called World Scything and its very advanced and even something I have troubles with. It's like 2% better than Lance. Just get a lance and learn with that.
Do you think DWarhammer is needed if you have a lance?
Yes
What is that music in the background at the start of the video
It's all Hollow Knight ost
What's the plugin that shows the tile your mouse is hovering?
Tile indicators iirc

Is hammer helpful even if I have DHL?
Extremely

Inferno, toa, cox… i might actually be a decent iron after these vids 😂
Its not a real gnomonkey video without fingerguns to the screen ☝️☝️☝️
holy shit the way you describe olm head is priceless.
How are you so good at explaining things, i know you are really good at the content but still
Can bgs be used instead of dhammer
No, everything here has VERY high slash defense and defense in general. You really want a hammer.
As prolly one of the VERY few to only use the vanilla client, it shows all rooms, unknown rooms don't exist.
"to do olm properly you need a 4 tick weapon" 🤤
guide for obor please
ohm guide starts around 20:00
