  • The French Air Navigation Service Provider (DSNA) presents « The final approach to an airport using ILS ». This short film mixes live action and animation clips to introduce the Instrument Landing System, a ground-based instrument approach system that provides precision guidance to an aircraft approaching and landing on a runaway, enabling planes to land safely and under all meteorological conditions. This system is amongst one of the most frequently used worldwide during the approach to landing phase.

what about outer, middle and inner markers?

    Why gp must 3 degrees??

The animation is misleading. The degree markings in the localizer and glide-slope indicator are set to the degree of the runway approach, it is not always indicated with 0deg at the top of the instrument. If the runway were on a 133deg course then 133 would be at the top of the instrument.
Also, ILS are not usually used in good weather because they require more a/c separation -- when visual conditions exist, then a visual approach can handle many more aircraft.
Also the Glide slope isn't enough to land. You must be trained and the equipment exist to allow landings in poor visibility:

bad graphics, on the map there isnt even a clear indication of the runway and the final part with the planes viewed from front is meaningless with that superimposed blue line that's not even static; now I know the poor quality, it's a french video, go figure
